OK, first let me say I did NOT vote for Obama. Now as to Rahm Emanuel, because he is Jewish, surely Obama won't support the Middle East countries that are against Israel will he? It doesn't make sense that Obama would hire such a devout Jew and then go against Israel. What am I missing here?

Indeed.

I, for one, will refuse to do any community service for any country, state, county, or city that elects someone who mandates community service. Throw me in jail if they must. I ain't doin it.

That's what it's going to take. This is involuntary servitude and it's unconstitutional.

Just say "NO" to involuntary servitude.

From what I have read, he's Jewish, but I think they said he is not a devout Jew.

But it would make sense that it's expected Israel might trust him more by O appointing Rahm C of S.

We all knew his agenda and that's why so many of us would not vote for him. The problem is..most of the ones that DID vote for him knew his agenda too.
I think our homeland will become our prison that the 'wardens' will rule with an iron fist.

Which makes me wonder if I should take my three little boys and GET OUT now, while I can. If it was just me and my husband, that's one thing; but with one disabled (blind) child, who also has other special-needs, another child with learning disabilities, and a third with health issues, I'm scared to death of what the "Obama" view of human worth will decide to do with them, eventually. Hitler liquidated all the "undesirables" who couldn't be "Producers" as "Leeches upon Society"---iow, he killed all the disabled people. Between that, and wanting my little boys to have a chance to grow up free and live free---part of me just wants to leave it all and run screaming up to Canada while I can, and get lost somewhere in a cabin next to the wilderness.

Barack Obama's new Chief of Staff sounds like quite a charming fellow. And by "quite a charming fellow," I mean a ruthless and bloodthirsty bastard:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...-Rahm-Emanuel-Barack-Obamas-new-enforcer.html

If you go to the Telegraph site, and read the whole of that article, you will find that it states that Rahm Emanuel is a VERY DEVOUT JEW---which is odd, given his bloodthirsty-ness (knife into the table; "dead! dead! dead!")

But--then again---maybe it's not so odd.

Someone above mentioned that Rahm's name means "thunder", and Barack means "lightning".

Add in another one: "Emanuel" means "God with us".

Not wanting to turn this into a religious discussion, but putting 2 and 2 together from other TB posts over the past couple of days:

I NEVER gave any serious thought to Obama being Anti-Christ, until I read some stuff on here. Then I thought, but he can't be--he isn't Jewish! But then I remembered something I read in a prophecy book--it ISN'T the AntiChrist who has to be Jewish, but the False Prophet who "prophesies" to his people Israel that AntiChrist is the one to be worshipped.

And if they DON'T worship him?

"He causeth all who shall not worship the Beast to be KILLED."

hmmmmmmmm........Read the WHOLE article. Read about how FIERCE this guy is, in pursuing those who even try to oppose the one he is working for. Then check out what Revelation says about the False Prophet.

This is getting more interesting by the minute.

I'm not qualified to comment on any religious aspects or the depth of his devotion. His father was active in the IDF and Rahm himself went over for a while in the early 90's. IIRC he worked on truck maintenance however, not as a combat soldier.

The Times article is just one of many about his temperament, and he is as far from outside the Washington Establishment as you can get.

Like Biden, his choice just further illustrates the disconnect between Obama's oratory and his actions.

Just another political hack, albeit a bit more skilled at disguising it...

From a previous post of mine on this choice:
http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3107323&postcount=7

Ah, can't you just smell the hope and change in the air?

From Obama's speech last night:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS...ma.transcript/

"In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.

Those are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.

And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."

And here's Rahm Emanuel:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/chi-ra...0,926311.story

"I'll tell you this," Emanuel shouted out to his staff. "The Republicans may have the 72-hour program. But they have not seen the 22-month program!

"Since my kids are gone, I can say it: They can go ---- themselves!"

Yeah, there's some New Politics right there. It makes me all warm and fuzzy...

Of course, it goes without saying that Barack Obama has the right to a chief of staff who will protect the new President's interests. But the deed of choosing Rahm Emanuel for chief of staff doesn't even remotely match the words spoken by Obama on Election Night.

Get used to that kind of discrepancy between words and deeds. No amount of oratorical eloquence can cover it up. Barack Obama is not the Messiah. Rather, he's just another politician. A typical Chicago ward-heeler.

Unfortunately, when TSHTF from whatever damage Mr. Obama implements upon our country, the ones who voted for him will be wailing and moaning that WE didn't tell them what he was really like, or it was Bush's fault.

I talked to a guy in Cabo who was working at Costco selling pots, he was from Los Angeles. I tried to tell him about Mr. Obama's lack of credentials to run for the office of US president. He blew that off with "oh, that's just propaganda, a bunch of Bushites out to get him". When I brought up the lawsuit in PA, he said the guy suing for Mr. Obama's credentials was a hack, and couldn't even pass the bar. He had an excuse for every negative action of Mr. Obama, he's just an innocent who's righteous character is being destroyed by evil Republicans. When it came to President Bush, or McCain or Ron Paul, all he could spew was the same carp the MSM forced into his brain, like THAT source was the pinnacle of truth. When I told him negative things I knew about President Bush and McCain, he JUMPED on that and asked me to email him the information!! Partial and fair feller he was, lol. He'd take any negative info on any conservative he could get, but no negative words on his messiah. Yowza. And THEY yap that WE should have an open mind.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. Them thar blind folk just got us in a heap of trouble.

And that Rahm, wow. Sounds like his tantrums make McCain's look like childsplay. When I think about the butchery that goes on in African countries, it makes me wonder if that could happen here.

I'm sure many of you have good kids and I can see why you would resent the community service being forced on them.

Otoh, there are many, many inner-city kids that are so out of control that their parents can do (or wil do) nothing to curtail their activities; half of the adults are scared to death of them. I saw a middleschool kid pull a handgun out of the stormsewer where he had stashed it while in school. He saw me watching, spit at me and walked on down the street.

So, if there is any kind of a plan to turn these little retches from robbing, drug dealing and murdering, then it's at least worth consideration, imo. It would be nice to see them doing something for the community instead of to the community.

Boys and girls, can we say "Executive order."

http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3105984&postcount=9

This is moving faster than any could have imagined.

It is time for good people to organize their neighbors and like minded parents together. The goal would be to create a do nothing not-for-profit volunteer organization. The ultimate idea would be to protect the local middle to upper class kids from being sent into ruthless ghetto cesspools in order to "clean up da hood." The front organization can make up BS, do nothing service but make it appear real: Real letter heads, business cards, etc.. Spend a day cleaning up a park and such. No one is going to complain about "free" labor, even if it sucks. Basically the kid would spend four or five hours with their parents cleaning a park and that would be their 50 hours. It may have to come to this.

What's in a name?

His name

Chief of Staff

Rahm (high, supreme, lofty) Israel Emanuel (God is with us)

Baraka

The concept of the Ka and the Ba is an ancient one which is not so easy to understand for our western minds. The ancient Egyptians regarded the human being as made up of five different elements; the Ba, the Ka, the Akh, the Name and the Shadow.

Hussein (handsome one)

Obama? (see below)

Ra (pronounced Rah) and sometimes as, , is an ancient Egyptian sun god.

Ra shared many of his symbols with other solar deities, in particular Horus, usually depicted as a falcon. In artwork Ra primarily is depicted as a man wearing a pharaoh's crown (a sign of his leadership of the deities) and the wadjet sun disk above his head. Often he had a falcon's head, as does Horus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra

MY NOTE> This is why I question "Sun_day worship. Sun_day is not the Sabbath.

I had this in my email notes but did not have a link so just posting for your discretion.

Meaning of What Does Name Barack (Baraka) Hussein Obama Mean

The meaning of Hussein is “blessed” in arabic, but what of the names Baraka (Barack) and Obama? The O in Obama means male or man, and ba means soul, and ma probably derives from ma/mother, the goddess of the sea (from which the term marine, and the african nation’s name Mauretania derive), so Obama seems to mean man’s soul from the sea (from where life was said to have come by some of the ancients).

The first name Baraka (the real african name) means soul double of the sun, with ba, the ancient egyptian for word for soul, and ra for the sun, and ka meaning soul double, so stringing it all together, I suppose B. Hussein’s full name means “blessed double of the soul of the sun from the sea mother,” and therewith, we see that his name is quite interesting, suggesting he is the offspring of the father sun and mother (ma) sea, a good name for a darwinian evolutionist for sure, who believe that some swamp goo got zapped for life to have formed, for which, of course, there is absolutely no evidence.

It’s interesting to note that the ancient hebrew name Barak means thunder, indicating that the Hebrews and Egyptians diverged on the name, as the a, in ka, is left off in the hebrew, Barak, not including any meaning that ka applies, a soul double of a cosmic force, which lends itself the the ancient Hebrews’ knowledge that humans were created by God, not by lightning or a sun burst causing swamp goo to morph into creatures.

And for some very compelling evidence corroborating the rendering of true history, recorded in Genesis, read through the excellent

another note/name

Baal (Phoenician)

Son of El (god of thunder and lightning), Baal was the sun god of the Canaanites and Phoenicians, whose worship spread to the ancient Jews. In the Bible, Baal is also known as Beelzebub.

Nimrod

Nimrod became known as Baal, meaning LORD, and was worshipped by the Babylonians as the sun in the sky

You don't know much about inner city ghetto life do you?

This service is required to graduate high school. Most of these kind of humans could careless about high school graduation. Even if they did care, they would do the service and likely sell drugs while building a house for the homeless. The idea that hammering some 2x4s, moving roofing shingles, cleaning bed pans, etc. will change someone is laughable at best.

Here's some more information on Emanuel (from a notedly left-leaning source, AlterNet). Interestingly, their position is that Emanuel is too conservative for the position in which he has been placed. Now that's a scary thought.

Notice that Emanuel is a member of something called the "New Democrat Coalition." I guess the word "neolibs" might not be too far off base after all. I thought it was just more name-calling. :)

=======================================
http://www.alternet.org/election08/...base_with_rahm_emanuel_selection/?page=entire

Is Obama Screwing His Base with Rahm Emanuel Selection?
Obama has asked conservative Clinton vet Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff -- it's not a good sign for progressives.

I had really wanted to celebrate Barack Obama's remarkable victory for a day or so before becoming cynical again. I really did.

And yet, less than 24 hours after the first polls closed, the president-elect chose as his chief of staff -- perhaps the most powerful single position in any administration -- Rahm Emanuel, one of the most conservative Democratic members of Congress.

The chief of staff essentially acts as the president's gatekeeper, determining with whom he has access for advice and analysis. Obama is known as a good listener who has been open to hearing from and considering the perspectives of those on the Left as well as those with a more centrist to conservative perspective. How much access he will actually have as president to more progressive voices, however, is now seriously in question.

Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel is a member of the so-called New Democrat Coalition (NDC), of group of center-right pro-business Congressional Democrats affiliated with the Democratic Leadership Conference, which is dedicated to moving the Democratic Party away from its more liberal and progressive base. Numbering only 58 members out of 236 Democrats in the current House of Representatives, the NDC has worked closely with its Republican colleagues in pushing through and passing such legislation as those providing President Bush with "fast-track" trade authority in order to bypass efforts by labor, environmentalists and other public interest groups to promote fairer trade policy.

Emanuel began his political career as a senior adviser and chief fundraiser for the successful 1989 Chicago mayoral campaign of Richard M. Daley to seize back City Hall from reformists who had challenged the corrupt political machine of this father, Richard J. Daley. Emanuel later became a senior adviser to Bill Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998, serving as Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and then Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy, and was credited with playing a major role in shifting the Clinton administration's foreign and domestic policy agenda to the right. Emanuel was the single most important official involved in pushing through the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the bill ending Aid for Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), and Clinton's draconian crime bill, among other legislation.

Leaving the administration in 1998, Emanuel worked as an investment banker in Chicago, where he amassed an $18 million fortune in less than three years prior to being elected to Congress.

As head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee since 2004, Emanuel has promoted pro-war and pro-business center-right candidates against anti-war and pro-labor candidates in the primaries, pouring millions of dollars of donations from Democrats across the country into the campaigns of his favored conservative minions to defeat more progressive challengers.

Emanuel was a major supporter of the Iraq War resolution that authorized the invasion of Iraq. Indeed, he was the only one of nine Democratic members of Congress from Illinois who backed granting Bush this unprecedented authority to invade a country on the far side of the world that was no threat to the United States at the time. Even more disturbingly, when asked by Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" whether he would have voted to authorize the invasion "knowing that there are no weapons of mass destruction," Emanuel answered that he indeed would have done so, effectively acknowledging that his support for the war was not about national security, but about oil and empire. Not surprisingly, he has also voted with the Republicans in support of unconditional funding to continue the Iraq War and has consistently opposed efforts by other Democrats to set a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. occupation forces from that country and related Congressional efforts to end the war.

At a time of record budget deficits, Emanuel has been a passionate supporter of increased spending for the Pentagon and has resisted efforts by fellow Democrats to trim excesses in the Bush administration's bloated military budget. For example, he has repeatedly voted against amendments to cut funding for Bush's dangerously destabilizing missile defense and even voted against an amendment to identify unnecessary Pentagon spending by examining the need, relevance and cost of Cold War weapons systems designed to fight the former Soviet Union.

A major hawk regarding Iran, Emanuel has also voted against Democratic efforts to prevent the Bush administration from launching military action against that country and has joined the administration in exaggerated claims about Iran's alleged nuclear threat. He is not opposed to nuclear proliferation if it involves U.S. allies, however. Emanuel has consistently voted against a series of Democratic amendments that would have strengthened safeguards in the Bush administration's nuclear cooperation agreement with India to prevent U.S. assistance from supporting India's nuclear weapons program.

Emanuel is also a prominent hawk regarding Israel, attacking the Bush administration from the right for criticizing Israel's assassination policies and other human rights abuses. He was also a prominent supporter of Israel's 2006 attacks on Lebanon, even challenging the credibility of Amnesty International and other human rights groups that reported Israeli violations of international humanitarian law. Emanuel's father had emigrated from Israel in the 1950s, where he had been a member of the terrorist group Irgun, which had been responsible for a series of terrorist attacks against Palestinian and British civilians in mandatory Palestine during the 1940s. Emanuel himself served in a civilian capacity as a volunteer for the Israeli army in the early 1990s.

It is unclear how serious of a blow Obama's selection of Emanuel is to those who hoped that Obama might actually steer the country in a more progressive direction. It's easy to see it as nothing less than a slap in the face of the progressive anti-war elements of the party to whom Obama owes his election, particularly following his selection of Sen. Joe Biden as vice president.

However, this does not necessarily mean that Obama as president will pursue nothing better than a Clintonesque center-right agenda. Someone with Obama's intelligence, knowledge and leadership qualities need not be unduly restricted by the influence of his chief of staff as less able presidents have. At the same time, this shocking appointment of Emanuel is illustrative of the need for the progressive base that brought him to power to not celebrate too long and to refocus our energies into pushing hard to ensure that the change Obama promised is something we really can believe in.

Last night on Hannity , I heard this Emanual (nicknamed Rahmbo) sent a dead fish through the mail to someone who p'ed him off. As I was looking for a link, I ran across this info below.

Clinton made him his political director in the new administration but internal tensions led to his comeuppance a year later at the hands of Hillary Rodham Clinton, when he was demoted to a policy adviser.

Ever the loyalist, he learned better how to get along, while retaining his aggressive ways. A finger-jabber who's been known to pinch men in the arm and leave a bruise, Emanuel took up residence in a closet-sized office. That didn't diminish his mega-sized ego and thirst for the fight.

One day shortly after the demotion, he summoned a reporter to his office, shut the door and berated him. Each sentence was laced with profanity. His face was tomato-red. He wagged his finger in the reporter's face and yelled.

After several minutes, he suddenly stopped and shot out of his seat to fling open the door. Bowing with a wide, showy sweep of his hand _ an exaggerated smile plastered on his face _ Emanuel said loud enough for the women in the outer office to hear, "And, dear sir, the horse you road in on."

Obama has asked conservative Clinton vet Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff -- it's not a good sign for progressives.

This is why Obamanation is a one trick donkey. Unless unemployment is at zero and everyone in this country is rich, he will not get re-elected. The poor, inner city welfare blacks that voted for the first time in their lives think he is going to bring them brand new homes, state-of-the-art schooling that will finally educate their kids (they don't understand the home life is destroying their kids), more food voucher money, more direct welfare subsidies, more social security disability payouts, etc. etc.. When he doesn't do this and when they look around at their neighborhood and still see it looks like a ghetto, they will immediately attack him. His "people" have already raised a stink because they did a handful of hours of work for him and yet didn't get paid as much as they thought. This is the "me, myself, and I" socialist. It defines the vast majority of Obamanation supporters. The problem is that they all only want government intervention for their pet problem/issue: Healthcare, inner city crime, welfare, childcare, schooling, gun control, jobs, unions, environment, etc.. These folks would never want full on socialism because they love their freedom too much in the other aspects of their lives. Then you have the true progressives. They demand full on socialism in every aspect of life: No private businesses, strict environmental standards, forced relocation of people based on logistics, forced diversity integration, etc. etc..

The man has not even been sworn in as president and we already have die-hard progressives and greedy campaign workers pissed off at him. We have Iran and Venezuela wanting to be friends. We have Putin seeing Obama as a pushover and wanting to get back into power so he can make Russia the world dominate country. We have Israel wondering if our country will now have their back. This is going to be a hilarious four years. :lkick::lkick::lkick::lkick:

This plan would backfire. People like my wife who have to work while going to school will simply not be able to graduate. Rich kids have the time, but the rest of us don't.

Also, this is a socialist attack on private earnings. Mandatory community service takes workers out of the economy at the behest of the government. This idea needs to be killed.

Another Former Clinton Staffer Faces Election Polls
Tuesday, March 19, 2002

WASHINGTON — Former Clinton aide Rahm Emanuel is in a dead-heat race for the Democratic nod in Tuesday's 5th Congressional District primary in Illinois.

A veteran of the "war room" - where Clinton staffers discussed strategy and spin control - Emanuel, 42, faces primary challenges from former state Rep. Nancy Kaszak and another Clinton ally, Peter Dagher.

The latest poll by Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV shows one in four voters still undecided, and Emanuel winning 35 percent to Kaszak's 33 percent.

"I feel very good about our chances," said Emanuel, a Chicago native who has been accused of being a millionaire carpetbagger by Kaszak. "I feel very good about the response I'm getting from voters in the district."

"It's a surprisingly divisive race," said Wayne Steger, a political science professor at DePaul University. "Rahm had a substantial money advantage early on and looked like he was going to walk away with it. But Nancy Kaszak has really come on strong."

To bolster his chances in Tuesday's primary, Emanuel, now a Chicago-based investment banker, has thrown in $450,000 of his own cash. As of this week, he and Kaszak, 51, will have spent $3 million. Emanuel, has spent $1.2 million, and has had heavy backing from Mayor Richard M. Daley.

Kaszak, however, has her own big backers, and has received an additional $500,000 in television attack ads from Emily's List, a pro-choice national Democratic women's group that has thrown its weight behind Kaszak.

The race has gotten as ugly as it has become expensive. One of Kaszak's strongest supporters in the Polish community erroneously said Emanuel held dual citizenship in Israel and served in the Israeli military.

Emanuel, who is Jewish and grew up the son of a doctor in Israel, has accused Kaszak of being soft on crime, prompting her to characterize the claim as sexist. She insists he is out of touch with the blue collar North Side, and pounds him on his role in supporting the North American Free Trade Agreement, which she said has been a drain on union jobs.

Much of Chicago's North Side is comprised of working class, Polish, Ukrainian, and Italian neighborhoods. The district, which is overwhelmingly Democratic, also includes the affluent Lakeside community.

Both Emanuel and Dagher have hardly mentioned their ex-boss, former President Bill Clinton, though Emanuel has openly embraced Clinton's legacy and touts his work in the White House.

Emanuel was a dogged fundraiser for Clinton and worked mostly on health insurance, welfare reform and strengthening gun laws. Under the Clinton administration, he worked at the Transportation Department and the Democratic National Committee, before becoming a senior adviser to the president.

Emanuel and Dagher are among a field of former Clinton administration veterans running in the 2002 elections. Erskine Bowles, former chief of staff, is running in the Democratic Senate primary in North Carolina; former Attorney General Janet Reno is seeking to oust Florida Republican Gov. Jeb Bush; and former Labor Secretary Robert Reich is looking to unseat Gov. Jane Swift in Massachusetts.

According to some of my Jewish acquaintances [I lived in an Orthodox neighborhood in Denver for 3 years and made friends there], there are Jews who are acutely aware of their heritage and their ties to Israel and there are those who could care less. According to them, almost all of the liberal Jews are the second persuasion.

ETA: Although Rahm's father is an Israeli scientist, his mother is not, and is in fact of the more radical school of thought. It was Rahm Emmanual that forced Rabin to shake hands with Yasser Arabrat on the White House lawn with Clintoon, do you remember that 'photo op?'

The Promised Land?

Obama, Emanuel and Israel

By JOHN V. WHITBECK

November 07, 2008 "Counterpunch" -- -- In the first major appointment of his administration, President-elect Barack Obama has named as his chief of staff Congressman Rahm Emanuel, an Israeli citizen and Israeli army veteran whose father, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, was a member of Menachem Begin's Irgun forces during the Nakba and named his son after "a Lehi combatant who was killed" -- i.e., a member of Yitzhak Shamir's terrorist Stern Gang, responsible for, in addition to other atrocities against Palestinians, the more famous bombing of the King David Hotel and assassination of the UN peace envoy Count Folke Bernadotte.

In rapid response to this news, the editorial in the next day's Arab News (Jeddah) was entitled "Don't pin much hope on Obama -- Emanuel is his chief of staff and that sends a message". This editorial referred to the Irgun as a "terror organization" (a judgment call) and concluded: "Far from challenging Israel, the new team may turn out to be as pro-Israel as the one it is replacing."......

A further contemptuous message is widely rumored to be forthcoming -- the naming as "Special Envoy for Middle East Peace" of Dennis Ross, the notorious Israel-Firster who, throughout the 12 years of the Bush the First and Clinton administrations, ensured that American policy toward the Palestinians did not deviate one millimeter from Israeli policy and that no progress toward peace could be made and who has since headed the AIPAC spin-off "think tank", the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Indeed it would be unconstitutional, and I hope people on both sides will stand up if Obama pushes for this to happen.

It would be quite ironic if the first black president re-instituted a form of slavery.

Obama is not black, He is Bi-Racial.
And his mother isnt from Kansas, She was a defiant 'runaway' from her mother and Hawaii and everything upper middle class.
His African fathers people history was slave traders. They caught and sold the slaves to the white folks

Obama wont be another John Kennedy.
The next four years wont be Camelot. They will be a nightmare.
Michelle O isnt a Jacki O

Obama presidency and his Chicago machine will be the first clone of Jimmy Carter with his Georgia Mafia and their record of failed politics, inflation, stagflation, and nuclear meltdowns.

Rahm Emanuel is also an Orthodox Jew who keeps the Sabbath and attends synagogue.

My guess would have to be that you are correct Sharon.

Thanks Hawkeye, as my husband loves to quote his favorite author and I quite often hear "trust your fellow man but keep your hand on your 45", I think I'll borrow that with regard to Obama.

Both DH and I will do our best to try and give this new President a chance and pray he'll find a way to bring this country out of it's self-created mess, but we have our doubts.

However, for us, the most important thing is that we, as a country, NOT turn against Israel.
