Rahm Emanuel's Universe

Jim Lindgren reads from the manifesto of Rahm Emanuel, Obama's reported new chief of staff, and finds a man who wants, among other things, "universal college access," to cut gasoline use in half, and "universal retirement savings." But far more creepy is the centerpiece of what Emanuel simply calls "The Plan:" universal citizen service.

From Emanuel's book:

John Kennedy was right: A nation is defined not by what it does for its citizens but by what it asks of them. If your leaders aren't challenging you to do your part, they aren't doing theirs. We need a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us by establishing for the first time an ethic of universal citizen service. All Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 should be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic civil defense training and community service. This is not a draft, nor is it military. Young people will be trained not as soldiers, but simply as citizens who understand their responsibilities in the event of a natural disaster, an epidemic or a terrorist attack. Universal citizen service will bring Americans of every background together to make America safer and more united in common purpose.

Obama's service plan is just as troubling. He wants to mandate 50 hours of community service per year for middle and high school students. And he's offering a $4,000 federal-funded tuition credit in exchange for 100 hours per year from college students. For most students, the latter will become a mandatory part of getting a degree, as colleges will merely raise their tuition to compensate for the vouchers.

So who gets to decide what constitutes "community service"? Who gets to decide which causes and organizations will be credit-worthy, and which ones won't?

Something tells me that you'd be more likely to get one of Obama's vouchers by going door to door for one of ACORN's living wage campaigns than, say, volunteering for a libertarian nonprofit organization that advocates against things like government-mandated community service.

" united in common purpose"

Just the opposite of what we were intended to be: a nation of diverse INDIVIDUALS working separately to acheive a common goal.

We all knew his agenda and that's why so many of us would not vote for him. The problem is..most of the ones that DID vote for him knew his agenda too.
I think our homeland will become our prison that the 'wardens' will rule with an iron fist.

Ah, the new tone in Washington bringing change to politics. Yep, picking a long time DC insider, that has major contempt for anyone that dissents from the chosen one’s policies. Yep, there’s a uniter!

Ugh, I just mentioned this to my coworkers (1 Obama supporter, 1 Ron Paul supporter - or so he says), and they're both all for the mandating of 50 hours of community service per year to middle school and high school students.

WTF is this country coming to?

It certainly sounds like the Ron Paul supporter doesn't understand Ron Paul's views.

Indeed.

I, for one, will refuse to do any community service for any country, state, county, or city that elects someone who mandates community service. Throw me in jail if they must. I ain't doin it.

I was just pondering last night how long it will be before we see the Obama Youth wearing camo, black t-shirts, and black berets on 'patrol' in pairs in our neighborhoods. It cannot be allowed to happen here.

Less than 12 hours after winning the Democratic nomination Obama spoke before AIPAC. Rahm Emmanual is Obama's payback to AIPAC for their support.

But no matter, here is an interesting artice on Rahm:

Obama’s First Appointment Is Son Of Zionist Terrorist

Rahm Emanuel’s father was member of militant terror group that bombed hotels, massacred villagers - Obama pick is keen supporter of lobbying group aimed at creating militarized youth brigades

President elect Barack Obama’s first appointment, Rahm Emanuel, who is set to become chief-of-staff, is the son of a member of the Zionist terrorist group Irgun, which was responsible for bombing hotels, marketplaces as well as the infamous Deir Yassin massacre, in which hundreds of Palestinian villagers were slaughtered.

Revelations about Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers, a Weather Underground domestic terrorist, which dogged him during the final weeks of the campaign trail, pale in significance to his selection of Emanuel, whose father, Benjamin M. Emanuel, was an Irgun member.

Irgun has been labeled a terrorist organization by both The New York Times newspaper and by the Anglo-American Committee of Enquiry.

Irgun was closely affiliated with the widely feared hardcore terrorist Stern Gang, an organization that carried out assassinations, train bombings and bombed police stations in an attempt to pave the way for unrestricted immigration of Jews into Palestine. Irgun operated in Palestine between 1931 and 1948.

Following the ideology of right-wing Revisionist Zionism, Irgun’s doctrine was that, “Every Jew had the right to enter Palestine; only active retaliation would deter the Arabs and the British; only Jewish armed force would ensure the Jewish state”.

This manifested itself by way of terror attacks such as the July 1946 bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which killed 91 people. In 2006, Israelis including former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former members of Irgun, attended a 60th anniversary celebration of the bombing organized by the Menachem Begin Centre.

Buses and marketplaces were also a target for Irgun, who were widely chastised for favoring attacks against civilian targets.

The widely condemned Deir Yassin massacre, which occurred in April 1948, involved Irgun working in consort with the Stern Gang and going house to house slaughtering Palestinian villagers. Eyewitness accounts of spies working for mainstream Jewish authorities, such as Meir Pa’il, reported Irgun members running around shooting civilians “full of lust for murder”.

“I saw the horrors that the fighters had created. I saw bodies of women and children, who were murdered in their houses in cold blood by gunfire, with no signs of battle and not as the result of blowing up the houses,” said eyewitness Eliahu Arbel.

“[One body was] a woman who must have been eight months pregnant,” noted Jacques de Reynier, a French-Swiss Representative of the International Red Cross, “He hit in the stomach, with powder burns on her dress indicating she’d been shot point-blank.”.

The son of a man who helped carry out this slaughter has now been selected by Obama to be his chief-of-staff. Cries of “sins of the father” lose their gusto when one considers the fact that, after the 1996 re-election of Bill Clinton, Rahm Emanuel “Was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! … Dead! … Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.” Sounds like a nice guy.

Rahm Emanuel is also an enthusiastic supporter of the United States Public Service Academy Act, a lobbying group founded in 2006 in order to promote the foundation of an American public service academy modeled on the military academies - a youth corps whose students would be trained in “civilian internship in the armed forces”.

This rings the alarm bells when we recall Obama’s pledge to create a “civilian national security force” that is “just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the U.S. military.

A creepy You Tube video of a brown-shirt style Obama youth brigade chanting and marching military style emerged last month, raising fears about where the messianic cult-like status of Obama’s image could eventually lead.

Oh no! Less than 12 hours after pledging his undying love of Israel to AIPAC once before, Obama was backtracking and telling the Palestinians he was all in favor of carving up Jerusalem!
Please, Mr. Obama, stop 'loving' Israel so much!

I'm against mandatory community service (ever notice it isn't called "volunteer work" anymore?) and think Obama is wrong on this.

Obama wasn't the only person to have such a plank in his platform, though. McCain did too, and so did John Edwards.

Community Service as a condition of graduation started back in the 1980s. People tout it because it's "good for the kids.":rolleyes::rolleyes:

My state had a bill in the legislature a few years ago that would have required this. Fortunately it failed. Some states already have it.

This is moving faster than any could have imagined.

He wouldn't even have to do that, Rangel's pet national service legistlation is all ready to go in the bill mill. That way they're all in on it.

As I've stated before, it's one thing to go back to the 1790 Militia Act, it's another thing to make the militia do "community service".

Those Americans and foreigners who thought it would be great to have the U.S. get a new administration focused on "change". However they have all forgotten what that has often entailed internally and with regards to foreign affairs.

I'm glad I'm too old for service. 48. Exhausted from a lifetime of non-stop service. Too old to be drafted into anything. Thank God!

Oh dear God, we are so in need of protection from him (OB), for the next four years, but my biggest worry is for the children of the United States. How long before (if it isn't already in the plan) our children will have to be indoctrinated before they can "do their service"?

So it'll just be taken a step further with regard to openly enforcing indoctrination right? And when you say the children have been indoctrinated for years, can you give some examples? Thanks!

What I meant by that is that they are 18 years old (for the most part) and all they can spout is Obama's name - and they're all so proud they voted for him! So, the indoctrination must have begun a long time ago.

Perhaps you're right. I wonder how much more in depth this new indoctrination will be. It's something I truly hope the parents are able to find out.

Barack Obama's new Chief of Staff sounds like quite a charming fellow. And by "quite a charming fellow," I mean a ruthless and bloodthirsty bastard:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...-Rahm-Emanuel-Barack-Obamas-new-enforcer.html

"One story, more than any other, sums up the intensity, loyalty and, at times, downright nastiness upon which Mr Emanuel's reputation is built.

At a dinner to celebrate President Clinton's first election victory, Mr Emanuel began to name those who he believed had earned his enmity. As he listed the names of those he saw as traitors, he grabbed a steak knife, stood up and began plunging the knife into the table and shouting "Dead! Dead! Dead!" after each name.

"When he was done, the table looked like a lunar landscape," one witness recalled. "It was like something out of The Godfather. But that's Rahm for you."

Nor was this an isolated incident – one pollster who fell out with Mr Emanuel received a rotting fish in the post as a warning not to cross him again...."

Hope. Change. The kind of stuff you see in movies about the Mafia. Yeah. We've got nothing to worry about.
