Saw a guy on Fox this morning who was complaining that he had a dog, cat and parrot still in the Keys and he needed to get to them.

Said it was "just so wrong, so wrong".......

Wondered just what HE was planning to do about it......maybe charter a boat and go save them. And why, when he evacuated, didn't he take them too?

Somebody was going to have to "do SOMETHING"....wringing hands. Some people don't have a clue.

F'ing snowflake pussy.

I would be careful about using that sequence of words Curmudgeon.

I have heard it so much around here lately I do believe it has a copyright.

Missed that.

I agree, he should have taken them with him. Not left them alone to deal with Irma. And NOW he is wanting someone to help him save his pets? Jerk.

Yes, ma'am. I just told my husband "Looks like God just gave us that tree removal permit."

LOL! I'm firmly convinced God has a sense of humor (although I'm also sure at times it's a bit warped!)...

And it's often... interesting... how he answers prayers. Praying that you can get back to your lives soon...

After watching a few video's some sone lyrucs came to mind:

better keep movin' and don't stand still
If the 'skeeters don't get him then the 'gaters will

I also say we need to help the poor pet owner out. Need to get a boat, some food for the critters if they are still alive and give him a ride. Halways across tie a cement block to his ankle and make him swim the rest of the way.

Yes, ma'am. I just told my husband "Looks like God just gave us that tree removal permit."

My mom had 2 trees fall, both into the street. She was going to call a tree removal company. The village came by and said they would have someone out within a week.

Richard Branson's son warns of "civil unrest" in the British Virgin Islands

-advises anyone heading there on a boat to "have security on board" - seems prisoners have escaped and armed themselves with machetes and guns. Police being flown in from Britain to restore order...

Hope those police officers are properly armed! Maybe they should have sent the marines instead?

I'm wanting to do a donation drive in my town you send some things down to Florida, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to which organizations need what. I just have a general idea of Florida. Does anyone have connections to know where might be a good place to send things? I'd prefer groups that might otherwise get overlooked.
I'm thinking brand new undies, toiletries, things like that.

The islands in that area have a very thin veneer of civility. I try to keep my head on a swivel at all times down there. There are the very wealthy and the very poor living in proximity. The "Yutes" seem rather hostile during good times. Can't imagine how they are behaving in the present crisis. Had an encounter with the young locals and the town sheriff on our last visit to St. Martin. He didn't even carry a sidearm. Guess he was just going to reason with the yutes.

Me first attitude, no thought for anyone or anything but himself when the tough times come, and then expecting everyone else to do his bidding NOW. Leftist demands that the gummint fix his self created problems, I think the jerk needs to be jailed and charged with animal abuse.

Save the pets, and drown the owner.

Just sayin....
I imagine the pets are likely dead, tie them around his neck and make him carry them with him for a month. If he's ever caught with live animals again he needs to be put in prison where they are not available to him, just like pedophiles.

Just got notice; "FedEx Freight has suspended service to 429 cities in Alabama, which was the least affected of the four states hit by Hurricane Irma. Florida,
the most affected, has 3,319 cities with suspended FedEx Freight service."

I'd suspect UPS and USPS similar for shipping anything, thus it would take somebody driving stuff down and waiting in long lines for gas like everybody else.

I'd be more inclined to raise $ for either local charity there you discover to be good or Samaritans Purse, Salvation Army or similar that will let you direct your
funds to their efforts there. They are good about getting out into the weeds and helping those most in need, at last that's what we've seen here from Harvey.

Red Cross, not so much, per experiences with them detailed here http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/show...ession-begs-people-not-to-donate-to-Red-Cross...

Cat is probably still alive, and most probably ate the bird if it wasn't in a cage. The dog, don't know, but do know cats can survive some pretty extreme situations.

Yes, the cat is probably PO'd to the max, but fine. They can climb high and stuff themselves into tiny spaces. Don't know about the dog, either, but the bird is probably dead.

I don't know why he wouldn't have travel carriers for the animals and an evacuation plan . . . then again, some people are just buttheads.

Send money to the cause and let them use it as needed. Better than sending things they probably don't immediately need. I am sure all you listed is already covered. Salvation Army, NOT the Red Cross or Samaritan's purse or similar. A fund drive doesn't require people to shop to get things, just stuff a five or ten or whatever into a box with a slit on top. Then send a money order to whatever foundation you choose.

Good idea just money will be needed more right now. Gas, food, water, etc immediate need.

Dennis, I can't think of anything much worth looting out of a Dollar General store once the food and batteries are gone. Maybe they were just cruising around hoping to spot something that appealed to them.

And by the way, thanks for not criticizing the poor sentence construction in my last post.

I thought Moon Pies and RC Colas were some of the original soul foods.

(I know. Not nice.)

You have offended me mightily!

That is stereotypical "white boy" food and I am a white boy (aged).

You may have the mighty (PC) Curmudgeon pay you a visit... a nocturnal visit.

(But... I forgive you)
