Has No Life - Lives on TB
I would love to hear your thoughts and problem solving ideas.

My daughters medical school is closing Friday. Staying where she is is not practical. She doesn’t have resources there and is a student. She will be driving home, hopefully.

She will pack a cooler for food and water and she will wear gloves to get gas. Minimizing her exposure. Still problem solving bathroom. She is meticulous about her environment so I am less worried about her picking the virus up along the way. She being in med school and me being a nurse she has years of “wash your hands and don’t touch your face” drilled into her.

I am worried about state shut downs and her getting stuck along the way. I read that people trying to get home would be allowed to if a stay home order was given. Recently friends in the medical field have received letters from their health organizations that they are to keep in their cars. The letter we believe it is to allow access to medical campuses.

She will not go through any major cities. Mainly she will go across Nebraska and into Colorado.

So I would love to hear from you. How would you handle bathroom? Would you worry she could get stuck along the way?

Anything we should be thinking of to get her here safely would be appreciated.

Thank you.

How to handle public restrooms?

Disinfecting wipes, mask, gloves, assuming the woods aren't available. Carry TP in case the woods are available.

Extra water, if possible. Carrying extra water helped me a couple times with overheating radiators. Never hurts to have more than enough water, food, TP. ;)

Maybe a letter from the Administration of her school on letterhead stating she has been sent home would help just in case lockdowns / checkpoints are implemented?

Good luck to your daughter and whole family.

Instead of farmers markets, roadside stands. Put out fliers as to days and hours.
In normal times, great idea. These days... maybe no so much. The "honor system" depends on people having honor... and even those who are normally honest may not have much compunction on cleaning off a roadside stand. If they don't have the cash, or are worried they'll need it for something else, they'll just justify it in their head that "they grow the stuff! (Like it happens without effort or cost)... they have plenty more!"

Rondaben is okay. He's home with his family now, but the 14 days are not officially up. He hasn't gotten a result back. I'm not sure why he isn't posting, but he IS okay.

Thank you SO much, DustyOpal! (And thanks for the pronoun; now I'll know to speak of him as a "he"; I didn't know to go with the "Ronda" --female, or the "Ben" - male---portion of the name. I keep mis-reading it too as "Roundaben" as in "Round the Bend"!)

Walmart is offering employees a bonus of $300 for full timers and $150 for part timers who keep working at Walmart as scheduled. They are also advancing the quarterly performance bonus to move cash into the employee's hands.

Overall nice effort for them in my opinion. All I have been hearing is the large number of layoffs as companies lose income.

Also, it is being reported that in our local Walmart, quite a few of the employees are now staying home and not going to work even though Walmart is encouraging using PPE and putting aside normal uniform standards for the duration of this virus.

I am guessing people will figure if they can't get evicted or need to pay for utilities and are getting cash from the government, why work.

This is most likely happening across the country , due to still using CDC test criteria.

Melinda Lilly is with Madi Ellis and 4 others.
22 hrs
I am posting this to bring awareness. You will see a story on KXII tonight at 6 and 10.
Madi became ill on Tuesday night. Bought her over the counter medicine. However, she got worse and was running fever. Mykel came home on Thursday to take her to Tmc Er in Sherman. They told him that she needed to go to TMC Denison. She was tested for flu and strep which were both negative. Then chest xrys. She was told by the er dr that he was pretty positive she had the Coronavirus 19 but they had no tests. The paperwork given said to call the CDC or health department.
No numbers given on release papers. So I called the Grayson County Health Department mutiple times. No one answered. So then called individual extensions that would pertain to this. Many had full mailboxes and I left messages on others. No call back.
So then I called the CDC number I found on their website. I spoke with Nicole. Told her of the situation. She gave me the number to the Texas State Health Department, 512 776 7111.
I called that number told lady of situation and she transferred me to 211. That gentleman got all the information and told me unfortunately he couldnt help but gave me another number for a line directed for this virus.
That lady told me that Since the er didnt give a script. Just release papers and quarantine note , she would definitely need to be checked out again. That would be better to go toward Dallas since more tests available. She also said to visit cdc.gov (which I did to make the first calls)
Also Google 211 Texas and do clinc searches. Put zip code in and see if could find clinic
That is how Madi ended up at Parkland. They were very kind to her. The dr told her he is postive that she had the virus but would only test if she was admitted. She was not. Also advised If she got worse to return. The RN spoke to Madi's mom, Kari and told her all of this infomation.
Now I am not trying to cause mass hysteria or placing blame on hosptial that I trust and use frequently. I have personal relationships with some of the great employees there at TMC.
However, that is 2 hospitals that she has seen. In both places they said they are postive she has but wont test.
This morning I called Red River Er to confirm that they have test. They do. Christy talked to ER dr there and explained the situation. He said that she has it and to take it serious. That if she started having problems breathing when walking across the room then to bring immediately.
The concern is that how are accurate numbers being reported for Grayson County when this is happening and no test being done.
I have seen mutiple people that have had this happen to not just locally but nationally. I cant account on them being 100% true but I can for Madi.
Here is another reason it's very concerning. Madi is a hostess at a local restaurant, Logan's in Sherman. She has been in contact with many of people this week. She has greeted and given guest the menus, silverware etc.
Anyone that has come into contact with Madi since Sunday or Monday needs to self quarantine immediately. This is very serious.
We do not know who or where she was exposed. No one we know has been sick or said anything.
Mykel can not return to work until she test negative or being on quarantine for 14 days.
I am working. I have an amazing job that I am able to work at home from. I am not sick but am prone to catch everything. However, if I start feeling bad Dr Cooper said to call and they will get me a script.
My house is on quarantine. We have enough food for about a week. We may need someone to help us out until we can find out for sure what she has.
Please do not leave any nasty comments or joke. They will not be tolerated.
This is a very serious matter. I have seen all the stuff posted. It's fun and games until it is someone you love and you are at risk as well.
I agree, my son in law had the same experience in Colorado!

the economy is already in shambles whether we are feeling the effects yet or not. If they would shut EVERYTHING down except medical for 30 days we could get a handle on this and lessen the overall pain and recovery time. Like pulling a bandaid, just do it.

Tell her to leave today. Waiting until Friday at least doubles the chances of meeting someone infected, plus more controls will go up on travel, and less supplies and gas may be available.
We are no longer in normal times, when you have to leave when the school says. LEAVE NOW!

2nd thing of importance in our area. I have a picture of Sams below. It is the food section and it is all but empty. EMPTY!

This is telling me that even though we have had a rush on food, and that people are now staying home, (sams had minimal people in the store) that we are seeing re-supply problems.

I am beginning to believe the gap we were all worried about is just about here. How big of a gap is unknown. But is the largest food company in the world can not resupply, we have serious problems....

Also everything and I mean everything was limited to one and only one per person.....

Well......... it's a start.

Yesterday, I posted that Food Lion (chain down South?) has said they are going to disburse $10 million to their employees for putting up with all this crap. Winner !!

Great! At least some companies are trying to help. I am guessing the Walmart number is going to be much more than 10 million, but each to their own and to the best of their abilities.

Hillary Clinton Appeared On Talk Show Before Host Tested Positive For COVID-19

Hillary Clinton appeared on the “Watch What Happens Live” show just two weeks before host Andy Cohen tested positive for COVID-19.

Cohen on Friday wrote in a post on Instagram that he had tested positive for the virus.
“After a few days of self-quarantine, and not feeling great, I have tested positive for Coronavirus,” he wrote. “As much as I felt like I could push through whatever I was feeling to do #WWHL from home, we’re putting a pin in that for now so I can focus on getting better. I want to thank all the medical professionals who are working tirelessly for all of us, and urge everybody to stay home and take care of themselves.”

Clinton, 72, and Cohen, 51, taped a show on March 4, with the program airing on Bravo the next day. She was there to promote the new “Hillary” documentary series that is now streaming on Hulu.
At one point, Clinton did a “shotski” — a shot of liquor taken off of a ski — with Cohen and Dorinda Medley, a former star of “The Real Housewives of New York City.”

207 people are talking about this

Cohen’s celebrity friends wrote words of encouragement on his Instagram post.
“Rest up. Love you with all my heart,” musician John Mayer wrote, while actress Sarah Jessica Parker posted three heart emojis.
“Sending you love and healing, Andy. Get better so quickly!!!!!” actress Busy Philipps said. TV host Kelly Ripa wrote: “Oh nooooooo Andy. I’m so sorry i love you,” and included some heart emojis, too.
Cohen is one of several celebrities to contract COVID-19, including Colton Underwood, Daniel Dae Kim, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Kristofer Hivju. He had planned to continue doing his show, only from home, but has canceled those plans now that he has contracted COVID-19.
The Sun, a British tabloid, said that Cohen is feeling “terrified” after testing positive for the coronavirus.
A source close to the Bravo presenter, 51, exclusively told The Sun that he’s “stressing out” about his shock diagnosis and is “scared” his loved ones could get the virus too.
An insider said: “Of course he is scared. He is terrified, actually. Initially he was not going to get tested and, in fact, he tried to get tested and was refused the first time.
“So the people who say that celebrities have it better and that it’s so much easier for them to get it are not entirely correct. Not in his case at least.”
The source went on: “But he wanted to wait because that is what the CDC recommended. After his cold did not get better and his symptoms got worse he was able to get tested.
“He is scared, yes, as are those around him.”
Clinton’s health problems are well known. In September 2016, Clinton developed pneumonia. She was seen leaving a 9/11 commemoration ceremony in New York, appearing unsteady on her feet. Her campaign at first said Clinton had become overheated at the event, but later announced she had been diagnosed with pneumonia two days earlier.

All these self appointed "Entertainers" stunk the joint up while they were able and now think their shows are necessary? So they're doing them from home? How about you just STFU for a while and give us a rest from your spouting insults and pessimism? I am hoping the Beast catches Chinese Flu from this guy. Oh please!

Pelosi says no deal yet on stimulus bill, House Democrats will introduce their own
From CNN's Ted Barrett, Kristin Wilson and Lauren Fox

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi departed the a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office and said there is no deal yet on the coronavirus economic stimulus bill, adding that the House will introduce its own bill — something that could significantly draw out the process to finalize the legislation.

Some context: The massive emergency aid package being negotiated on Capitol Hill has grown to roughly $2 trillion as bicameral, bipartisan leaders come together Sunday to try and clinch a final agreement, according to two people directly involved in the talks.

I know this doesn't effect a lot of folks, but it does effect some, and others not effected might want to pay attention since this is a city with a pop. of about 40,000 which grows to about 100,000 during business hours.

Just accessed the news site and here is what it says concerning the lockdown.

Tupelo now under stay-at-home order to prevent coronavirus spread

Tupelo+sign.jpg

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton imposed a stay-at-home order that went into effect early Sunday to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The city released executive orders Saturday night imposing some of the strictest measures in Mississippi so far to combat the virus. They are:

  • a stay-at-home order that would only allow travel to and from essential businesses as well as travel for self or family care
  • mandatory compliance of federal and state coronavirus guidelines that will be enforced
  • stopping utility disconnections, evictions and foreclosures as allowed by law
  • closing nonessential businesses

At the moment, this would last until 11:59 p.m. on March 28.

Shelton explained the way an executive order works is that it takes effect immediately and the City Council votes later on to approve or change it. According to the mayor, that council vote will happen next week.

As for what qualifies as an essential or nonessential business:

Essential

medical and health care clinics and facilities

grocery stores

hardware stores

pharmacies

daycares

businesses in the supply chain for essential businesses—such as medical, food supply, etc.

banks

gas stations

veterinary clinics

professional services serving essential businesses just listed

Nonessential

theatres

gyms

recreational facilities

barbers and beauty salons

massage, nail and day spas

shopping malls

sporting and concert venues

retail stores

The city said exemptions will be provided for any business that can comply with federal and state guidelines and "not be open to the general public other than by curbside, carryout, delivery, telework from home or similar means and any business may seek exemption by separate order of Mayor or majority of Tupelo City Council."

Going to be hard to enforce this.

I hope the much later time for this briefing means they got some dang rest. They need it. Hopefully our heathcare workers get some respite too. They damn sure need it.

Post #35,900: "Prone ventilation is ventilation that is delivered with the patient lying in the prone position. Prone ventilation may be used for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) mostly as a strategy to improve oxygenation when more traditional modes of ventilation fail (eg, lung protective ventilation). "

Someone else, maybe TP, mentioned a type of massage while in this position to assist getting the fluids moving?
Actually my FIL had a couple of pretty girls beat on his back with their fists. He said it worked
