Pelosi warns House Democrats not ready to sign on to stimulus bill
From CNN's Ted Barrett, Kristin Wilson and Lauren Fox

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sounded an ominous warning Sunday that she may not support an emerging coronavirus economic stimulus bill that had been on a fast track through the Congress this weekend.
“From my standpoint, we’re apart,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol when asked if she expected a deal today.
Pelosi spoke as she arrived at a critical meeting of the top four congressional leaders and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to finalize the bill, which has been the subject of intense negotiations on the Senate side for days.

The Senate did consider input from Pelosi and House committees who worked through Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to provide it.

On Saturday, Schumer signaled he might accept the bill. But on Sunday morning, Democratic sources said they had uncovered numerous problems with provisions dealing with aid to workers and loan assistance to businesses.

What could happen next: If Pelosi doesn’t support the bill, Senate Democrats could stall action on the bill by blocking a procedural motion set for a vote Sunday afternoon.

The House Speaker also could change it when the bill goes to the House if it passes the Senate Monday, as Senate Republicans and the White House want.

That could slow getting out the much-needed aid to workers and businesses. Pressure would mount — from Wall Street to Main Street — on Pelosi and House Democrats if they don’t act quickly.

I would love to hear your thoughts and problem solving ideas.

My daughters medical school is closing Friday. Staying where she is is not practical. She doesn’t have resources there and is a student. She will be driving home, hopefully.

She will pack a cooler for food and water and she will wear gloves to get gas. Minimizing her exposure. Still problem solving bathroom. She is meticulous about her environment so I am less worried about her picking the virus up along the way. She being in med school and me being a nurse she has years of “wash your hands and don’t touch your face” drilled into her.

I am worried about state shut downs and her getting stuck along the way. I read that people trying to get home would be allowed to if a stay home order was given. Recently friends in the medical field have received letters from their health organizations that they are to keep in their cars. The letter we believe it is to allow access to medical campuses.

She will not go through any major cities. Mainly she will go across Nebraska and into Colorado.

So I would love to hear from you. How would you handle bathroom? Would you worry she could get stuck along the way?

Anything we should be thinking of to get her here safely would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It's like an 8 hour drive?
If it were me, I'd not stop. Minimal fluids and food, and just not. If I HAD to, I think I'd find a side road and a bush.

360 new deaths in Lombardy

The death toll in the northern region of Lombardy, which has borne the brunt of Italy’s virus outbreak, has risen by around 360 in a day to more than 3,450, a source has told Reuters.

The number of cases in the region, which includes Italy’s financial capital Milan, has increased by around 2,590 to more than 28,370. However, a number of results were still awaiting confirmation and it was not clear if they would be added later.

Sunday’s figures represented an improvement on Saturday, when the death toll in the region rose by 546 and new cases increased by 3,251. The national death toll is due to be released later on Sunday. The tally stood at 4,825 on Saturday - the highest in the world.

On the west coast of Florida all beaches are closed. Makes sense, the spring breakers ruined that for us. Now they are closing the boat ramps as well. Too many people congregating at the sand bars I guess. Now people are being shamed for even leaving their house. It is currently 85 and sunny outside. Seems to me like sunshine and fresh air would be a good idea for most people. Too bad some in our society can't follow basic distancing guidelines so they shut it down for everyone. Would be a nice day to go to the beach and make some vitamin D.

Post #35,900: "Prone ventilation is ventilation that is delivered with the patient lying in the prone position. Prone ventilation may be used for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) mostly as a strategy to improve oxygenation when more traditional modes of ventilation fail (eg, lung protective ventilation). "

Someone else, maybe TP, mentioned a type of massage while in this position to assist getting the fluids moving?

Nearly 1 in 10 of Italy's infected are healthcare workers
From CNN’s Livia Borghese, Valentina Di Donato, Nicola Ruotolo and John Fiegener in Rome.

A medical worker tends to a patient in a hospital in Lombardy.

A medical worker tends to a patient in a hospital in Lombardy.

A total of 4,826 healthcare workers in Italy have been infected by the novel coronavirus, according to the latest information Sunday from Italy’s National Health Institute (ISS).

That means some 9% of those infected nationwide by Covid-19 are healthcare workers.

Italy’s National Federation of Surgeons and Dentists is publishing a record of doctors who have contracted and died of Covid-19 since the start of the outbreak. It lists 18 doctors who have passed away since March 11; of those, 15 are from Lombardy, the hardest-hit region and the epicenter of Italy’s outbreak.

It is unclear if each of the doctors listed was directly battling the coronavirus outbreak and treating the infected.

Among those doctors who have died is Marcello Natali, 57, who died on March 18, according to the federation website.

Natali, as reported by local media, had been a vocal critic of the initial Italian government response to the outbreak, and also sounded the alarm on the dearth of medical supplies.

Also among the doctors who have died is Francesco Foltrani, 67, who died on March 19. The federation says Foltrani had in-person contact with a local retirement home where many of the elderly residents were known to have contracted coronavirus.

By the numbers: There are approximately 53,578 confirmed coronavirus cases in Italy, according to the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center.

i have used bottle rockets in the past to talk to my neighbors. can setup something with porch lights like a colored bulb or on during the day. if you can see the house but too far to see a paper in the window, you could shut your curtain in your window so it becomes a flag.

Pelosi says no deal yet on stimulus bill, House Democrats will introduce their own
From CNN's Ted Barrett, Kristin Wilson and Lauren Fox

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi departed the a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office and said there is no deal yet on the coronavirus economic stimulus bill, adding that the House will introduce its own bill — something that could significantly draw out the process to finalize the legislation.

Some context: The massive emergency aid package being negotiated on Capitol Hill has grown to roughly $2 trillion as bicameral, bipartisan leaders come together Sunday to try and clinch a final agreement, according to two people directly involved in the talks.

The United States just surpassed 30,000 cases:

View attachment 188100

I check that site a lot too. Very informative. I see about half the cases are in NY, CA, WA, and NJ. And of course most of the new cases are mild ones being found with all the increased testing. Many rural counties in the country have no confirmed cases and those that do usually have only one or two and those numbers have not been increasing hardly at all. I would think that is because rural areas have less close contact among people than congested areas and rural people are more prone to take precautions when things like flu are going around.

New York reports 114 coronavirus-related deaths
From CNN's Sheena Jones and Melanie Schuman

New York has 15,168 confirmed Covid-19 cases across the state, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said during a press conference Sunday morning.

So far, 114 people have died in New York from the disease, Cuomo added.

At least 61,401 people have been tested for the coronavirus across the state.

Best Buy just sent an email saying that no customers are allowed in stores.
Here is the relevant part:

Beginning Sunday, March 22, we will offer contactless curbside service at all locations across the country where state or local laws allow. Rather than ask you to come into our stores, any items you order on BestBuy.com or the Best Buy app will be delivered to your car curbside. If, for any reason, you didn't order the product in advance and the product is in stock in the store, one of our employees will be more than happy to go get it in the store and sell it to you while you remain in your car. This service also extends to returns and exchanges, the period for which has been extended on most products so that you have more time. Only employees will be allowed in the store, but we are determined to serve you as fully as we can. Unfortunately, we are temporarily unable to continue our product trade-in and recycling services.

This is most likely happening across the country , due to still using CDC test criteria.

Melinda Lilly is with Madi Ellis and 4 others.

I am posting this to bring awareness. You will see a story on KXII tonight at 6 and 10.
Madi became ill on Tuesday night. Bought her over the counter medicine. However, she got worse and was running fever. Mykel came home on Thursday to take her to Tmc Er in Sherman. They told him that she needed to go to TMC Denison. She was tested for flu and strep which were both negative. Then chest xrys. She was told by the er dr that he was pretty positive she had the Coronavirus 19 but they had no tests. The paperwork given said to call the CDC or health department.
No numbers given on release papers. So I called the Grayson County Health Department mutiple times. No one answered. So then called individual extensions that would pertain to this. Many had full mailboxes and I left messages on others. No call back.
So then I called the CDC number I found on their website. I spoke with Nicole. Told her of the situation. She gave me the number to the Texas State Health Department, 512 776 7111.
I called that number told lady of situation and she transferred me to 211. That gentleman got all the information and told me unfortunately he couldnt help but gave me another number for a line directed for this virus.
That lady told me that Since the er didnt give a script. Just release papers and quarantine note , she would definitely need to be checked out again. That would be better to go toward Dallas since more tests available. She also said to visit cdc.gov (which I did to make the first calls)
Also Google 211 Texas and do clinc searches. Put zip code in and see if could find clinic
That is how Madi ended up at Parkland. They were very kind to her. The dr told her he is postive that she had the virus but would only test if she was admitted. She was not. Also advised If she got worse to return. The RN spoke to Madi's mom, Kari and told her all of this infomation.
Now I am not trying to cause mass hysteria or placing blame on hosptial that I trust and use frequently. I have personal relationships with some of the great employees there at TMC.
However, that is 2 hospitals that she has seen. In both places they said they are postive she has but wont test.
This morning I called Red River Er to confirm that they have test. They do. Christy talked to ER dr there and explained the situation. He said that she has it and to take it serious. That if she started having problems breathing when walking across the room then to bring immediately.
The concern is that how are accurate numbers being reported for Grayson County when this is happening and no test being done.
I have seen mutiple people that have had this happen to not just locally but nationally. I cant account on them being 100% true but I can for Madi.
Here is another reason it's very concerning. Madi is a hostess at a local restaurant, Logan's in Sherman. She has been in contact with many of people this week. She has greeted and given guest the menus, silverware etc.
Anyone that has come into contact with Madi since Sunday or Monday needs to self quarantine immediately. This is very serious.
We do not know who or where she was exposed. No one we know has been sick or said anything.
Mykel can not return to work until she test negative or being on quarantine for 14 days.
I am working. I have an amazing job that I am able to work at home from. I am not sick but am prone to catch everything. However, if I start feeling bad Dr Cooper said to call and they will get me a script.
My house is on quarantine. We have enough food for about a week. We may need someone to help us out until we can find out for sure what she has.
Please do not leave any nasty comments or joke. They will not be tolerated.
This is a very serious matter. I have seen all the stuff posted. It's fun and games until it is someone you love and you are at risk as well.

Pelosi must not have seen enough millions being funneled to her family. Time to draw up something new to hide personal kickbacks, favors to high contributors, and of course slush funds to give free money to critical Corona fighting measures like abortions.

I am sure we will see all the libs here who were all so outraged only at the Republican stock dumpers come out to demand the politics even from their side be put aside for a freakin minute to get support to the people who need it now.

Or could it be there are some in the Demo party wish to create as much pain and suffering as possible to help inflate the issue they think will win the next election???

Kind of like the Progressive activists who were cheering Corona deaths as killing old people who stood in the way of climate change income redistribution schemes.

I know this doesn't effect a lot of folks, but it does effect some, and others not effected might want to pay attention since this is a city with a pop. of about 40,000 which grows to about 100,000 during business hours.

Just accessed the news site and here is what it says concerning the lockdown.

Tupelo now under stay-at-home order to prevent coronavirus spread

www.wtva.com
1 min read
Tupelo+sign.jpg

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton imposed a stay-at-home order that went into effect early Sunday to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The city released executive orders Saturday night imposing some of the strictest measures in Mississippi so far to combat the virus. They are:

  • a stay-at-home order that would only allow travel to and from essential businesses as well as travel for self or family care
  • mandatory compliance of federal and state coronavirus guidelines that will be enforced
  • stopping utility disconnections, evictions and foreclosures as allowed by law
  • closing nonessential businesses

At the moment, this would last until 11:59 p.m. on March 28.

Shelton explained the way an executive order works is that it takes effect immediately and the City Council votes later on to approve or change it. According to the mayor, that council vote will happen next week.

As for what qualifies as an essential or nonessential business:

Essential

medical and health care clinics and facilities

grocery stores

hardware stores

pharmacies

daycares

businesses in the supply chain for essential businesses—such as medical, food supply, etc.

banks

gas stations

veterinary clinics

professional services serving essential businesses just listed

Nonessential

theatres

gyms

recreational facilities

barbers and beauty salons

massage, nail and day spas

shopping malls

sporting and concert venues

retail stores

The city said exemptions will be provided for any business that can comply with federal and state guidelines and "not be open to the general public other than by curbside, carryout, delivery, telework from home or similar means and any business may seek exemption by separate order of Mayor or majority of Tupelo City Council."

Cary should have used "Adult Children" when referring to our "children". They work in Tupelo, and are in the process of finding out how the shutdown will affect their work. Will they be working at home or not. DS is an engineer for a large telecommunications firm, and DIL works in the business dept. of a large back in the fraud dept. I'm thinking DIL will still go to work, but don't know yet about DS.

This is one of the major concerns I have with this virus.... the long term care needed and in many cases the advanced medical care...
