Given the state of things, I can’t help continuing to think about how the answer to everything would be a complete halving of the nation, creating two separate nations: one for the liberal left and one for the conservative right. Each with their own president, citizenship, laws, etc. Everyone chooses their citizenship, and after that it becomes illegal to cross borders.
Obviously there are so many challenges with this idea, the biggest of which is the sheer size of our geography and creating those borders. But in theory, anyone who did happen to live, work, or travel in the opposite “country” of their chosen citizenship would have no rights, no voice toward laws or policies, and at the first sign of unrest or protest, they would be permanently banned.
Is it even feasible? Imagine such a thing, if each chose their own side and ran their country the way they saw fit.
Don’t you think that if we took the brightest minds on both sides of the fence, like a Manhattan Project sort of thing, don’t you think they could come up with such a plan?
