Had you asked me this a year ago I'd have said no. Today I'm leaning towards not secession but by agreement between the states to stop a potential civil war. My gut is telling me Biden is going to win because so many hate Trump and the Democrats have perfected vote harvesting and some states will use vote by mail which makes cheating so easy. Once Biden is in office and reverses most of Trump's agenda, the unemployment rate will jump, racial tensions will grow, the economy will slow. Biden and his party will push to ban assault weapons, then all semi-autos of all kinds. Race riots will make the current ones look tame. Due to defunded and cut police departments people will have to protect themselves, the war will be driven by a spark when the left pushes too far, a couple of governors will decide it's better to try to go it alone than have their states torn apart by civil war, that will set up a sort of convention of states. Our differences are so great now I'm not sure we can ever recover.

THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1. BILL OF RIGHTS

That the general, great and essential principles of liberty and free government may be recognized and established, we declare:

Sec. 1. FREEDOM AND SOVEREIGNTY OF STATE.
Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States, and the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the Union depend upon the preservation of the right of local self-government, unimpaired to all the States.

Sec. 2. INHERENT POLITICAL POWER; REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT.
All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.

Exactly this. We will never again be the America of my youth. That makes me so incredibly sad. I guess I’m just grateful that I got to experience it. My heart breaks for all you out there who have young kids or grandkids who will only know our country as it is today.

Long answer: Unless a state is energy self-sufficient, food self-sufficient, has it's own gold bullion vault, has deep-water ports, and a free-standing electrical grid, probably not.
Hum...

Texas practically has it’s own power grid
Texas should is or should be able to be very close to energy self-sufficient
Texas could probably become food self- sufficient
Texas has deep water ports
Texas has its own gold depository independent of Federal Reserve

… it's probably the only existing state closest to being able to become a stand alone country

For the first time in my life I see this as a distinct possibility - The balkanization of the USA may actually happen.
I can't believe what has happened to our country...

And to think I along with many others dedicated our lives to this country and constitution so these pieces of shit could tear it down. It truly brings a tear to my eye and heart.

All true, but Texas also has a TON of libtards and mexicans to either "attitude adjust" or run off. Same for most other states.

And don't forget, only half the states have their own state militia NOT under the command of the US National government. Every other state would need to start from scratch and make their own and get that set up.

Illinois is the same as a lot of other "blue" states in that only the major inner cities, with their high population are democrat, the rest of the state is republican and gets lumped in with them, even though their political views are drastically different. That's why I hate it when people call "such and such state - oh, those liberal jerks" or whatever because it isnt the whole state, just the inner cities and there is a higher population in those cities than in the geographic rest of the state.

You've described California, I am a native. When I was in High School in the late 1960's Calif was in political transition, but still conservative, Ronald Reagan served two terms as Gov and later to become President.

For a 50+ year period, the years 1967 to 2020, Calif has had eight Governors, four Republican and four Democrats. Of course some of those Republican gov's have been RINO's.

Calif was Agriculture & Defense industry both conservative at that time. Now the primary industry is Agriculture and Liberal Hi-Tech and Finance has replaced conservative Defense Industry.

The cities got bigger and bigger until they reached a tipping point where the Cities could now dictate the politics. BIG Cities are political bullies, they can dictate to the rest of the state. Conservative areas in California have had some responses to the Rioting lately, gun owners standing up to criminals that destroy. The response has surprised some members here, this is the old California the rural areas. The city mayors are just shocked that a good portion of the rural areas are still conservative.

If that country is Mexico. The majority of the elementary-age children in Texas are Hispanic, and there are plenty of blacks in Texas as well. Do you think those kids are going to grow up and vote Republican? Me neither.

I think there will be a split at some point (even within this decade). It will probably be due to massive destruction from WWIII, or an enormous natural disaster. A fallen federal government would result in a power vacuum; that is when the split naturally would happen. Isolated areas will go their own way out of necessity.

Old infrastructure such as dams that threaten to domino every Spring could fill up the US interior, the increasingly wonky EM shield around the Earth could have us all looking for underground shelter w/o any nukes, and the GSM encroaches on our food supply. As others have pointed out, GSM's are when empires fall, and we are at the start of one.

Let's hope China gets crippled with worse problems, so they don't try to over run us.

The legal immigrants from Mexico absolutely loath illegals, and they're not too fond of black folks either. I suspect the children will vote pretty much like their parents do. Most Democrats in Texas are Democrats for the local elections only. In state and federal elections, they resoundingly vote Republican.

Congressman Louis Gohmert (Texas 1st District), had a real "squeeker" in a town that is 65% black... he only got 77% of the vote!
