This is the error message I got. It's not as simple as going in and entering your banking information. If you filed a return and either you owe, it was applied to what you owe (my case), or you asked for a check refund, I am guessing you cannot use this function.

Here is your error(s):
Issue : Business Rule R0000-902-01 - Taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return.

I checked this morning, and there will be a place to enter your banking info if you filed but owe, so they wouldnt have your direct deposit info. However, it is not working yet, it says "mid-April" it will be available to use to load your bank info.

I owe for the last few years, and am on a payment plan where they take money out of my bank each month, so they do have my information, but i doubt it will recognize it if trying to make a deposit. Who knows???

Thanks for that information. Was it on the IRS website you saw this?

ETA I see it. Will just wait for that link to open up. Thanks!

I can't find ANYTHING about people like us who have owed taxes the last few years,,, our deposit information will not be linked to our return. Yet, it says not to submit direct deposit information unless you didn't file at all.

Do you think they saved the online payment information for when I made our payments?
No they most likely will mail a check at some point

Here's something to make you happy....my brother owes the IRS a boatload of $ from years past...he's now on SS and legally they can take maximum 15% of your SS check for repayment. He get's a letter every month telling him how much they took out from his check but did not get one this month AND when he went to check his balance, all of his SS check was in there. Then remembering, I think Mnuchin, said IRS was suspending(?) collections for the time being...paraphrasing here. Again, my old brain isn't recalling everything but basically if you're being audited, garnished, whatever, it's been put on hold until, well, who knows when.

Yes, they are suspending collections until July 15. If i want to stop the monthly withdraw from my account, I would just have to call the bank and stop payment on it until July 15th. The IRS website says there will be no penalty for doing that.

Actually I just assumed at first that the $1,200 would go against my balance owed, but apparently it wont.

Basically, only back child support is being withheld. My Step daughter owes back child support, so she was whining about not getting it. I told her, hey it comes off your balance owed. It will payoff most of what she owes.

Just checked mine and nothing. I owed the last 2 years, but I also receive Soc. Sec. I will check later today, don't need the money but it will come in handy to get a few things I've had my eye on.

We are on a fixed retirement income so nothing has changed income-wise for us during the pandemic, we don't really need it either. We plan to use it to pay property taxes which are due in May.

Many bank websites are down or operating erratically.
My credit union came back with a warning of erratic operation.
Big load of thousands checking their accounts today.

I also had problems getting into my bank website today. When I finally did, it showed my “stimulus” money pending for a 4/15 deposit.

Mine shows nothing. However, if it’s due for a 4/15 deposit, it shows up at 6 a.m. the day before. I should know tomorrow morning.
