Haven't heard anything flying out of Wright Patterson tonight. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, when it was a SAC base, the planes flew over one night and it seemed like it was continuous for over and hr. My family and I were awakened and worried. Tonight I don't hear anything but I am north of the base now.

I had indeed heard a lot of loud jet traffic today, but thought I was maybe just imagining it. Perhaps not?

everything seems normal at Altus Air force base, oklahoma. I can hear some activity. It is not uncommon for these fly boys to have 6 or 7 planes in the air at the same time that I can count just by looking around the sky. so, I mean, 120 doesn't seem like too large of a number to me for the whole entire country.

Well one thing was for sure today, around 2 PM we had non stop BOOMs out here in Pahrump Nevada. Someone said they were testing weapons on a base around here somewhere. I watch all the milcom traffic twitter accounts, and saw lots of activity as well but did not put it all together. The booms we were hearing were enough to get people on facebook and ask what was going on.

I didn't notice much air activity around me today except for when very low flying (and rather loud) chopper flew over my house earlier today. I never saw it but I certainly heard it. FWIW, I live fairly close to one Army base and one Air Force base----one to my east and the other to my west.

The low flying part inside CONUS is not making sense to me. Cargo, refuelers, fighters, it's a common thread to the reports.
The only reason to do something like that is to fly in the radar shadow aka under the radar. That begs the question of why they feel it necessary to evade civilian radar systems?
