Texas Governor Greg Abbott announces the reopening of more Texas businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic at a press conference at the Texas State Capitol in Austin on Monday, May 18, 2020. Abbott said that childcare facilities, youth camps, some professional sports, and bars may now begin to fully or partially reopen their facilities as outlined by regulations listed on the Open Texas website. Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced a ban on government-mandated vaccine passports Tuesday morning.

The Republican governor issued an executive order on Monday banning any regulation that would require Texans to show proof of vaccination before getting a product or service. The order also blocks all businesses or entities receiving state funds from requiring vaccine documentation, as well.

“Every day, Texans return to normalcy as more people get the COVID vaccine. In fact, this week, Texas will surpass 13 million doses administered,” Abbott said in a Tuesday video announcement. “Those shots help slow the spread of COVID, reduce hospitalizations, and reduce fatalities.”

“But, as I have said all along, these vaccines are always voluntary and never forced. Government should not require any Texan to show proof of vaccination and reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives,” the governor continued. “That is why I issued an executive order that prohibits government-mandated vaccine passports in Texas. We will continue to vaccinate more Texans and protect public health and we will do so without treading on Texans’ personal freedoms.”

The order exempts nursing homes and long-term care facilities, allowing them to require proof of vaccination as need to protect their residents.

Abbott’s order comes after Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a similar order last week. DeSantis announced his intention at a press conference in March.

“It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply participate in normal society,” DeSantis said. “You want to go to a movie theater, should you have to show that? No. You want to go to a game, a theme park? No. So we’re not supportive of that.”

“We always said we wanted to provide it for all but mandate it for none,” he continued. “And that was something that, while it was advised to take particularly if you’re vulnerable, we were not going to force you to do it.”

DeSantis said that vaccine passports would be a significant threat to Americans’ privacy.

“You’re going to do this and, what, give all this information to some big corporation? You want the fox to guard the hen house? I mean give me a break,” the governor said. “I think this is something that has huge privacy implications. It is not necessary to do.”

New York became the first state to implement a COVID-19 vaccine passport in February. As The Daily Wire reported:

Called the Excelsior Pass, the passport will be at first used at large venues like Madison Square Garden. But next week, arts and entertainment venues across the state will be using it.
“As they would with an airline boarding pass, people will be able to prove their health status with a digital QR code – or ‘quick response’ machine-readable label,” USA Today reported.
“They’ll need to download the Excelsior Pass app, enter their name, date of birth, and ZIP code, and answer a series of personal questions to confirm their identity. The data will come from the state’s vaccine registry and will be linked to testing data from a number of pre-approved testing companies.”

Ummmm nope. It’s playing good cop bad cop. Pushing an untested potentially life threatening vaccine then trying to placate us with this no vaccine passports bs. If Abbott had been so worried about our freedom, those illegal lockdowns would not have occurred in the first place.

This too shall pass.
Next they should take a second look at requiring vaccinations for school attendance. I'm ALL in favor of every child being homeschooled, or at least attending private schools, but I don't think it's any more legitimate to require mandatory vaccinations for school attendance than it is to require them for anything else. Medical things should be between the parents or the individual if an adult, and their doctor.

Oh I totally agree. I will not take it and I refuse to wear a mask. I just think this is backpedaling. But to say no passports and in the same breath talk about the rate of slow down and hospitalizations is ridiculous. That happened because we’ve reached herd immunity.

And the story begins this way, "So this guy in a wheelchair rolls in front of a speeding locomotive and .... "

Regardless of how it ends, way to go, Greg, and way to go, Texas! :fgr2::mn:

Are you sure about that?
Hmm... In a related development, it seems the elitists may be smelling disfavor in the herd, as if a lot of sheepdogs are growling...

The Cub

Behold, I am coming soon.
I commend the Governor! God bless him. I would have done the same.

Now, having said that.....

  • It is only an EO.
  • The US DOT will require them for travel.
  • They will also be required to enter Federal buildings.
  • private and public businesses will require them.
  • .....and more.

When the Supreme Court Upheld a Compulsory Vaccination Law

and then......there is the threat of withholding funding unless States snap to attention.

The battle is just beginning.....and I am afraid that the States will either have to get into line or Secede.

re: Secession...
Is it a coincidence that upon Texas taking significant overt steps to repatriate its gold from NY that it was hit with arguably the costliest hurricane in history i.e. Harvey? One that became a killer storm in only a matter of hours as it was off the coast of Corpus Christi....and stalled for two days over Corpus Christi picking up 3 ft of the Gulf and dropping it on SE Texas?

Was it a coincidence that upon a bill being submitted to the Texas Senate to seek a referendum on Seccession (a first) that it was hit with an abnormal and historic freeze with the Arctic Vortex dropping down unexpectedly in Feb 2021?

Buckle up Texans.....we are fighting evil principalities and powers of the air.

PETITION: Ask Governor Abbott to Call a Special Session to Protect Texans’ Right to Work
Employer-Mandate-Graphic.jpg

Texans for Vaccine Choice is proud of the accomplishments of the legislature and governor to protect and advance informed consent, medical privacy, and vaccine choice this session.

However, there is still work to be done.

All Texans have a right to live and work as they please. Employee vaccine mandates are a direct threat to these rights. No Texan should be forced to choose between feeding their family and taking an untested, liability free injection.

Texans for Vaccine Choice calls on Governor Abbott to include on any special session agenda an employee vaccine mandate ban. Texas should be fully open and free from medical mandates surrounding COVID.
Call on Governor Abbott to Protect Texans' Right to Work by Ending Employer Vaccine Mandates
