I read a lot of forums, and this is something that is posted all the time when discussing cases like this. The fact is, after reading up on various group attacks, or those pattern attacks where maybe it is just one person, the victims are almost always somewhat at a loss as to what happened. When they give interviews, they seem to be in total shock the incident even took place. Here in Indy, 20-somethings who had been out partying were targets in a trendy bar/club area of our city. Drunk, female, and after watching the interviews on TV, again, seemed to be surprised this could ever happen to them.
I have a theory that most people who have a license/permit to carry a handgun are more likely to think about things such as their surroundings, is it a good idea to be out totally wasted all the time (because for most common sense CCW types, this means no carrying), etc.. One incident I recall here in Indy recently was during the daytime, on a busy street, and a drug addiction was likely what drove this guy to try and rob these people who were moving a buddy into his apartment. One of the victims pulled a gun and shot the robber four times killing him. This CCW type wasn't just wondering around in some dark alley way, or wondering around in an intoxicated state.

out of that.In my example above, they interviewed family members of the robber who was shot and killed. They said they felt it was murder, because four shots was too many. If this sort of anti-common sense self-defense logic rules in your area, then you need to do #3 (adding to the above): Move to an area where the concept of idividual self-defense is valued, supported, and not constantly under attack. As far as the liability aspect, I think the NRA and others, maybe some insurance companies, do offer insurance products that can protect you. While some areas could cost you $10K+ in legal fees to get the case thrown out, it really shouldn't cost that much in states that are friendly to individual self-defense. Most of these states are even including language in their laws that say a person can't be sued for using deadly force to protect themselves or someone else.
I think LJ's observation is valid. Let's not brand a whole ethnic group with the characteristics of the most sociopathic of them. It isn't a lack of IQ score. In most cases it is a dearth of morals, and that applies to all ethnic groups.
No doubt, a lot of bad decisions have been made under the influence of testosterone.

unbelievable. My beloved Denver is slipping into the abyss. It was a rule when I was growing up to stay away from the five points area (of course), the capital hill area and stay off Colfax east of Federal ave. And everywhere in between if you were white.

Yep. I was stationed at Lowry AFB from 75 to 78. When we first moved there we lived downtown on FOX St. We were at that address for less than a year. My wife was accosted by two drunks who pulled a knife on her as she was leaving the apartment to go to work. We had the hub caps stolen from the car and we had our 2 ten speed bikes, that were locked, stolen. We moved to Aurora across the street from Fitzsimmons AMC. Colfax all the way down to the Capitol were nothing but adult movies, bookstores, and strip clubs. Larimer square was great night life with blues clubs and restaurants but we got away from the city and up into the mountains every chance we got. Too bad it has gotten to this point.
I just read today in "What Really Happening" that only 17% of the population live outside the city limits........think about this, if all this crimes are being committed now then what will it be WTSHTF with all those people no longer getting their welfare checks? or food stamps?.............no thaks, glade to live in the outskirt of a tiny town of 1,600 people.

At 10th and Broadway there is no parking,the alley is between a sporting goods store and an office building,have to go almost to 11th for parking and that is on Lincoln.
At 12th and Broadway is a gansta,hiphop,type club. When they let the mosters out a 2AM there is always a lot of crap going on outside until 4AM or so. It was the place that the Denver Bronco was shot at. Lincoln ST has 1 or 2 of the same types of clubs.
!0th and Pennsylvania ST is nothing but a mix of different types of apt. buildings.
The only place to eat, unless you walk 3 or 4 blocks either way, is Charlie Browns.
Sounds like the POS's are leaving the hood looking for prey.

Seems whatever some drunk had done , 4 blocks up the road, needed 10 cops to fix.

If you go downtown and stay till closing time, between the cops and the thugs, you are taking your life in your own hands

!4th and Humbolt is 1 block south of Colfax, not a great place to be after dark.
Some places on Colfax are not the place to be unless you are black at anytime.

I strongly believe that this type of behavior will not only continue but get much worse as the economy continues to slide downward. At some point there will be someone who defends themselves against a group using a firearm but then the story will be about the white man "gunning down innocent black youths" who were just out for an evening of fun instead of telling the story as it really happened.
The polite veneer of our society is getting very, very thin and in many places it is gone entirely. Conditions in urban areas will be among the first to denigrate and that trend IMO is already visible if people are willing to take a look. Things around this country are falling apart.

If some one still can't see the threat that a group of young blacks pose when they feel that they have the advantage over you, then you'll have to learn the hard way.
For the record, yes I have let a group of thugs know that I would kill every one of them dead if they made one more step towards me. Already had my gun drawn and ready for what came next. Never had to do that on a group of Asians or whites.
The way I explain the difference in races is like this:
A group of Whites moves into an area and what happens? They build and beautify.
A group of Asians moves into an area and what happens? The add more quality to the existing community.
A group of Blacks move into an area what happens? They bring their ghetto habits with them and tear down every thing that's been built.

This is kind of horseshit mentality is the reason for so much HATE. Because whites love to belittle blacks does not mean they have not achieved great things.

For starters, there are demonstrated, tested, measured IQ differences as a poster has stated. It is a fact. However, I do think that the issue of success is more one of culture. In addition, while higher IQ is a reasonable predictor of success, attitude accounts for most of it.

Center City hit by violent mob of teens
A mob of teens injured at least two people and robbed others during a brief rampage Friday night in Center City, police said.
About 9:15 p.m., police started receiving 911 calls of a group of 20 to 40 teens assaulting people. Police found a man on the ground bleeding badly from the head at Walnut and Juniper Streets. He was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
A street robbery was reported at 16th and Spruce Streets, police said. An iPhone was taken in that or another robbery. A man was assaulted at 15th and Sansom Streets, police said. Other people also reported being victimized. A man said he saw a group beating a man at Fourth and Walnut Streets. There was also vandalism at 15th and Locust Streets. At least five teens were arrested.
Brian Mishico, who was working the door at Good Dog Bar & Restaurant, said a crowd of about 30 youths, some who looked as young as 12, split into two groups as they walked down 15th Street.
On one side of the street, the marauding youths knocked over a planter at the Aria condominium building. "They just knocked over everything on the street," he said.
On the other side of 15th, kids started randomly fighting pedestrians on the sidewalk in front of the Max Brenner restaurant.
"It's crazy. I've never seen anything like it," Mishico said. "It seems totally random."
A patron at Fado, at 15th and Locust, said that the group then turned left on Locust heading toward Broad and came upon two men and a woman. They started fighting the men, then someone grabbed the woman's hair and punched her in the head.

It is NOT a giant slap, as western historians/archeologists have been trying to deny that black men were pharaohs for several generations. It is only lately that most have finally acknowledged this.

I live in a pretty reasonable state where most people are accepted and yet my good buddy's wife and son (who are black) were grocery shopping a few days ago- a guy (white) pushed the little 4 year old boy aside and told him to "move, ******." If the husband had been there someone would have gone to jail. And this friend of mine is a hard working black man who makes good money and pays his own way through life, but he and his family are still "******s."
