DENVER -- Police are trying to identify a gang of men who are beating couples with baseball bats and robbing them in downtown Denver.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said there have been two attacks, each involving the robbery of a couple leaving restaurants or bars at closing time.

Just before 2 a.m. on July 16, a couple was walking home from a restaurant-bar near East 10th Avenue and Pennsylvania Street when they were surrounded by a group of men, according to a police report.

Two men wielding baseball bats hit the man and woman in the head, "causing major bruising and swelling," the report said. Then a robber grabbed the woman's purse.

The man and woman were transported to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment, police said.

On June 26 near 1000 Broadway, a couple was in an alley near their vehicle when a group of men walked up and "assaulted them with a baseball bat and demanded money," a police report said. The robbers grabbed the woman's purse and ran to a waiting car, police said.

The attackers are “not nice people," Jackson said.

Police describe the attackers as four to five black men, ages 18 to 21 years.

Anyone with information about the identity of the robbers, the crimes or unreported incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. People calling the tip line can choose to remain anonymous.

I don't understand, was the ally near their car or was their car in the alley. Either way, an alley doesn't seem like a smart place to be at night.

Agreed and this is going to have to happen, unfortunately, with the teenage flash mob crowds as well. Last year at the state fair there was a group of young teens, a mix of both black and white, ganging up on white folks and essentinally beating them senseless. CCL was passed statewide last year and this story made HUGE news. IF such a thing happens this year I'm guessing that there will be a lot of dead teeny boppers, who were just misunderstood youths out having fun.

First off, I disagree that blacks are inherently dumber than other races. that being said, the ghetto culture in America will drive ANY attempt to get a decent education right out of a black here. They'll AT A MINIMUM be called all kinds of things: "Uncle Tom", "Oreo", etc. Also, they may be attacked and beaten as well. The "ghetto ******" culture here in America REQUIRES that blacks be victims, and prey upon whitey at every possible opportunity. And that means both via entitlement programs AND criminal attacks.

In my CHL class it was drilled in to us that even when in the right, if you use your weapon, even in self-defense, you could still have to defend yourself against possible criminal and civil charges. How many times have you seen a criminal being killed while in the action of committing a crime and the criminal's family says "He was a good boy, he didn't deserve this".

Anyone can pursue a legal action against you for using lethal force. Chances are if it was justified the criminal charges will not be used or they will be dropped. The family then can sue you. You then have expensive costs by retaining a lawyer to defend you and even if you win which is not guaranteed with a jury, $400 per hour mounts up really quickly.

Of course better to owe money than to be dead but just know there are consequences for your actions as well.

Thats why Texas just passed a "loser pays" law. Bring a lawsuit in Texas, you lose, you pay the other guys legal expenses...
