CRISIS Ammo shortage about to get even worse

Some people are ALWAYS late to the par=tay. :D
Doesn't mean there is no par=tay though.

Best phrase of the day right there.

I learned my lesson years ago.
For more than twenty years I've bought a variety of rounds when they were available. Even stuff I didn't have if it was cheap enough. Having to plunk down for 4000 rounds all at once can dampen the fun of shooting. Buying 500 every other week makes it easier.

Wow, I just looked at SGAmmo. :strs:

No 9mm, No 45acp, No 38sp, No 380acp, No 223, No 300BO, 357 mag has one option at $1.20/round

Remember they used to have lots of 40 and 7.62x39? The only 40 now is $1+ per round for JHP. The only 7.62x39 in stock is $320/1000 (golden tiger- good steel case ammo).

Steel case 308 is 50 cents per round. Decent FMJ/match 308 is $1 per round (or more).

My advice is to get any 22LR ammo or conversion kits you want yesterday. With most of the larger pistol ammo gone, the demand pressure on 22LR is going to increase rapidly. I may get more pellets/BBs and CO2 cartridges.

The one ammo that really hasn't changed is 22 Magnum. It's available and still about 25-30 cents per shot just like it has been for the last few years.

I think the sporting goods salesman at Academy predicting lack of availability for deer hunting ammo this fall will come true. If you don't have your hunting rifle ammo, get that yesterday as well.

Did notice 44 magnum, on the local menu. Low variety.

Most rimfire are getting very short, in variety.

If your plans include hunting, fun or eats, now is the time to stock up.

I think the non woke hunters are catching on.
And the fuds are starting to notice.

And of course,"Where is all the ammo?". Still happens, Everytime single time I am in the local stores.

Just a warning, SGA has some 00 buckshot that looks attractive compared to the other options. Mainly, you can buy a single 25rd box of claimed full power 00 buckshot and not have to buy a full case (250rd) at the same price per shell. You don't want it for serious use unless you have a pump shotgun and know what it really is.

It says full power (1325fps, 9 pellet) 00 buck, but it's really 9 pellets of reduced-recoil #1 buckshot and won't work a semi-auto action. I have purchased 4 boxes of this in the past and it was OK when Midway was blowing it out at $7 per box of 25, but at a dollar per shell and for serious use, just say no. I opened 2 shells and verified the 9 pellets measured 0.29" instead of the expected 0.33". I'm not sure what happened when Fiocchi made this ammo, but it hurts their reputation and somehow SGA has some for sale now. This could be private/old stock that SGA somehow obtained to resell?

SGA link: 25 Round Box - 12 Gauge 2-3/4 Inch 9 Pellet 1325 FPS 00 BuckShot Fiocchi Ammo - 12MW00BK | SGAmmo.com

Midway link to the same ammo (read the reviews, sort by recent instead of highest rated): Fiocchi Ammo 12 Ga 2-3/4 00 Buckshot 9 Pellets Box of 25

Welcome to the drop ship economy, apparently.

Recently ordered AR magazines from Wholesale Hunter (Wetumpka, AL) were as best as I can tell drop shipped from Crow Shooting Supply (Montezuma, IA). But they got here, as ordered, and in a timely manner.

Logistics beez hard ...

This is all hogwash, just like the toilet paper shortage. In time, this too shall pass! Relax. There is ammo around, just need to look in the right places.

How long can primers be stored. Do they get old and no longer any good?
Most post WWI stuff, non-corrisive has indefinite life spans, in previous reloading expeditions FIL and I used some dated 1946 another dated 1955 and this was in the mid 1990’s shot well in 308 and 30-30

As another side note on primers, I have seen online (no personal experience) that the lead free versions do seem to have a finite shelf life (unlike normal primers). Be cautious if you stumble on a pile of them and think you have found a lost city of gold.

At no time in the last 20 years, with all the 'mass shootings' and other scary events, has there been a real possibility of Americans shooting each other over political and social issues. This will not pass without blood being spilled. The closer we get to November the less I'm able to relax.

Guys, and gals, I just have to tell ya.

I couldn't believe it.

Last night the local channel on TV ran an ad. Gary's Pawn and Gun, in Columbus (it's kind of a local gun enthusiast hang out), it's one of those places if you are looking for something gun related, and can't find it, someone will say, "Have you checked with Gary's?"

The ad was for ammo. It said "We have ammo. .223's and 5.56" Then another ad came up later and said "We have ammo 9MM, 45 ACP.

I told the wife "Get dressed we're going to Columbus."

She said "It's 8:30 He's not open."

I can almost see the line this AM from here 45 miles north of there. LOL

I don't know if he has an online presence to order, but wanted to tell y'all someone was advertising to sell ammo.

well just ordered a 223 carbide die set from dillon. gonna be 6 to 8 weeks before i get it

local gun shop. a very big one, Guns Unlimited in Omaha Ne..

good news, GU has alot of powder in stock, bought 16 pounds today.

on ammo. they had 41mag, 44 special, 44 mag 500 smith and 454 casul,

whats left of bullets is mostly hunting cals.

rifle ammo. they have some of most bolt gun ammo, barely any hunting ammo if a semi can take it, salesman warned me, they expect to run out of hunting ammo to,

no primers for rifle or pistol,

lots of shotgun primers and wads. lots of #6 and #8 shot,

the suprise was 22 magnum, they had a whole table of just 22 mag, also a lot of 17 stuff.
said they have no idea when they will be getting more, stuff just shows up without a schedule,

The entire gun section at my local WM is closed. That includes the ammo section. No idea when that might change.

SGA has S&B 20 gauge #2 buckshot by the 25rd box. $20 each.
20 gauge buckshot is not common and the price is decent.
They still have some 20 gauge slugs as well.
Pricing is about $1.30 per shell per 5rd box, but that was roughly last years price.

They also have premium 9mm JHP at $1 per round, but you can buy single 50rd boxes instead of full cases.
They have some 223 starting at 70 cents per round. Again, you can buy single boxes.
Those don't deserve a separate link.

Fox News just had Crissy Wallace on sounded like he was defending Communists gun control polices. Don‘t need it but saw some 00 buck today will buy it tomorrow just because of my bad attitude.

Antifafa is coming.
^^^^This, in spades. Local WM went completely off the firearms radar as things were about to ramp up here.

Funny how WM stays so well informed. Should be our canary....if your WM gun section is empty, bad moon's a comin'.

I think you are really stressed. This has nothing to do with political and social issues, mass shootings, or other scary events. This has to do with a so called shortage. Relax, election day will come and go with virtually no significant events.

The .300 upper I have been waiting for was in this morning's mail. Ammo is already here waiting. Glad I got started early.

If things go bad there's a 10.5" 5.56 upper and a lot of ammo to swap into. Great thing about the AR with compatible calibers...

And God bless PSA ...

I wonder if I should just get 22 mag ammo since everything else is getting scarce.
The big question is do you have firearm(s) in that caliber? Otherwise, you would be buying a new firearm plus new ammo.

It is an interesting round if it will meet your needs.
However, the price now is the typical price and not likely to go down when/if things go back to normal.

A year ago, for the same price as a 50rd box of 22 mag:
You could buy a box of 9mm plinking ammo (FMJ).
You could buy 5 boxes of plinking grade 22LR.
You could buy two 20rd boxes of basic 223 FMJ.

For trade purposes, it's still on the shelf and the price hasn't gone up....I wouldn't buy as trading material.
