So with McCarthy being speaker does this mean that some of the things that need to be investigated can’t happen? Can he control investigating the 2020 election and corruption of the Bidens?
Trump's choice of personnel hasn't been stellar. Barr was his AG "star" - and we all know where that went.Well trump got his man, why shouldn't we over joyed by this?
I think you need to re-read that promise. With the rule change, (if he abides by it), that goes into effect where the Speaker can be voted out, I'm wondering if we should start a strip card on how many days McCarthy will last as Speaker.
"they will need 218 to overturn."I think you need to re-read that promise.
It states that a single person can CALL for a vote, not that a vote will happen, and not that the Speakership will be overturned.
Some cry baby gets their feeling hurt and CALLS for a vote. It will go nowhere. Even if a Caucus CALLS for a vote, it will go nowhere. He's the speaker, they will need 218 to overturn.
As I told you some pages back this is politics, not patriotism. To overturn the Speakership will mean Chairmanships will be up for grabs as well. The Speaker APPOINTS chairs, and if you voted against the new or present Speaker your chair may be on the line.
Who was it that said they would resign from the House, if McCarthy got the Speaker?
Where are your patriots now?
This is politics, out of the 535 people in our government YOU or I can only influence/vote for, 4 people. Not withstanding Dominion/cheating. 1) the representative for your district 2) your 2 Senators and No. 4 your President (even though you vote for a VP its always a package deal).
Once you cast your vote in Nov. it is out of your hands. And they will tell you anything, do anything R or D to get elected. Once that is done, they don't need you, and they have NEVER cared about you. O they may throw you a bone every now and then just to keep you coming back for more.
It would be good to spend some time meditating on this, so you will learn it is politics in government and it is all about money and power which the old saying "Power corrupts, and ultimate power corrupts ultimately" is as true today and it was when spoken.
I find it harder all the time not to just stay home.Trump's choice of personnel hasn't been stellar. Barr was his AG "star" - and we all know where that went.
I will say there is at least the "right MAGA" behind the selection.
Bannon was "mixed" on this: one moment he's touting Trump as Speaker, and Mike Davis (A3P Project) is saying McCarthy is a continuation of the "swamp." The next he's chatting with Steve Cortes - who is a "consensus" man and he's interviewing Anna Polina Luna who was a "convert" and had good words about the McCarthy choice primarily because of the "removal" provision.
So I guess this horse just has to go where the reins pull him. And right now the reins are at least leading Gee - although the destination is still uncertain.
Frankly, I'd rather stay home...

Is it plain now?You need to remove the condescending tone or your bumper sticker on your tag line. They don't really go together.
I can't help you mislabled Club for Growth as Club for Rome. There really is a Club for Rome and I did not understand why you thought they were apart of the club.
I was trying to understand your position and why you are hostile to the 20 and what they are attempting to do.
And you will note it didn't work did it."they will need 218 to overturn."
They already have 212.
OU or I can only influence/vote for, 4 people. Not withstanding Dominion/cheating. 1) the representative for your district 2) your 2 Senators and No. 4 your President (even though you vote for a VP its always a package dealackage deal).
That was for voting IN.And you will note it didn't work did it.
While technically true. We all get the feelz every Nov. And just think the electors "promise" to do their jobs. LOLJust to split hairs, you can only vote for 3 people.
You don't vote for President.
You vote for Electors
The feelz are the problem. While technically true. We all get the feelz every Nov. And just think the electors "promise" to do their jobs. LOL
LOL we'll just have to disagree LOLThat was for voting IN.
For voting OUT, there are currently 212 Ds, and 6 "present" Rs. I believe they have the 218 votes, if they really need to remove him.
But, I also believe that the only way a R will vote to remove, is if Rs gauge that they might lose their seat in their next district election, if they vote to keep him. Getting reelected is the ONLY thing that matters.
It seems as if something changed and the signal was given to stand down.
I don't know but I hope when that big wheel turns it lands on some Democrats hard. The State of the United States.
Out of 435 elected officials, they can't find 218 honest men.
Where does that put us in the 4th Turning?
THREAD: Here are some of the concessions & promises that have been agreed to over the course of the speaker negotiations:OK so he's Speaker now.
What are all the deals, agreements and so forth that got him the needed votes?
I just can't follow it all without some help.
No I'm not comfortable with him.
he would have thumped Mike Rogers if it got that far.
Thanks for putting that up. Just some of my thoughts.THREAD: Here are some of the concessions & promises that have been agreed to over the course of the speaker negotiations:
—Anyone can call for a vote to oust speaker
—McCarthy leadership PAC won’t play in safe open primaries
—Debt ceiling hike must be paired with spending cuts
—More Freedom Caucus members on committees, including House Rules
—Cap discretionary spending at fiscal 2022 levels, which would amount to lower levels for defense & domestic programs
—Create investigative committee to probe the “weaponization” of the federal government
—Hold votes on key conservative bills, including balanced budget amendment, congressional term limits, border security
—Move 12 appropriations bill individually, not in an omnibus
—Give members ability to offer more amendments on the House floor

"These concessions have been agreed to by our conference, and ultimately I believe it’s going to lead to a more people-driven legislative process," said Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). "It’s about restoring more power and decision making to the members."Another major concern for centrist Republicans throughout the week’s marathon negotiations was the conservatives’ push to win more subcommittee gavels for themselves — an idea that infuriated those already in line for those seats.
Bacon had called it “a non-starter,” particularly among the more moderate Republicans who have worked their way up the ladder into those seats.
“If you’re talking about chairmanships and things like that, they’re gonna have to still earn it,” Bacon said. “I call it affirmative action for [the] smallest of the caucuses to put them in leadership roles when they’ve not earned it. We believe in a merit-based system on the GOP side.”
Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), who has served in the House since 2013, also highlighted the “seniority process” for chairmanships.
“Everybody has to work their way through the seniority process and earn positions on both committees and gavels and things of that nature,” she said. -The Hill
