I am running into stupid limits on what cat items I can buy. I almost ran out of kitty litter today so went to order my usual 4 bags on Amazon. A limit of 3. Why? Are there actually that many people that pay 20 bucks a bag? Must be.
So I went to Chewy and ordered 6 bags and Walmart and ordered 4. Everybody plays their stupid games now days. That's OK I don't have anything else to do now.

a suggestion to not almost running out, when you use a bag, replace it soon, that way you always have a supply, the world is not what it use to be

Have needed a new mattress for probably 2 years. Thought about replacing it Fall of 2019. Put it off. Thought about it again a couple times in 2020. Finally decided to do something last night. Not sure what I was waiting for. Price certainly didn't come down. It's $80 more than when I looked 18 months ago. $50 more than last Summer.

Supposed to be here in a few days. Glad I finally did it. Besides feeling uncomfortable when trying to sleep, I also had a strange sense of urgency to do it now.

No shortage, just put it up as another reminder that you may want to get something now if you think you're going to need one.
Ha I bet my mattress is worse than yours. It's 22 yrs old and a spring WIRE is popping up right on the side that I sleep on. I put a folded towel there, but it keeps moving. Tried duct tape didn't work good. Gonna look for a flat patio cushion soon.

The dogs sleep on the other side and I don't want to move their spot. Dogs are creatures of habit. I tried turning mattress over, but not strong enough. I'll be fine with extra padding.

Kitty litter is a rip-off. Just go to your local auto parts store and get absorbent for oil spills. It's exactly the same ground clay as kitty litter but at 1/3 the price. Oil-Dri is a common name brand. About the only difference is that it's not perfumed; my cat prefers it to the stuff with the little scent crystals mixed in.

You can take a hacksaw and cut that wire.
ya know I never thought of that. I do have a couple hack saws and wire cutters....never thought of it.

I get the wood pellets they use for horse bedding at TS about $6 for a huge bag. The pellets break up. Before they break up I use a paper towel to pick up the poop. After it all breaks up I use the scooper. I sprinkle it with rug powder. Clay is too heavy for me. The wood is biodegradable.

If you need a new iron, for pressing clothes/fabric, best start looking for one today.
you can find them at salvation army.
Why aren't you going with LEDs?

About the only reason to use incandescent is if you need the waste heat.
Years ago I read about how dangerous LED lights are. In time they damage the eyesight and give early cataracts. They block the bodies melatonin so it's harder to sleep, and they emit a high frequency buzzing sound that we can't hear, but it affects our brain and can induce depression. After reading that I got rid of them yrs ago and stocked up on the incandescent ones. And since my house is so cold I WANT the heat from them.

Mary, you could also slit your mattress open, fix the broken spring with pliers as Dennis suggested, and then tie it back into position with sturdy cord. Then secure some new padding in the hollow spot and then whip stitch the slit closed. Then sew on a large patch of sturdy fabric so the closed slit doesn't get abraded. I've done this with the hollow crated by my hip as I always sleep on one side in the same place. The mattress contains several of these dents because I've turned and rotated it fairly often, The secured padding makes a huge difference.

Edit: If the steel of the spring is too sturdy to be bent, just tie the sharp end downward to a lower turn of the spring. You may need to tie it in three or four directions so the cord doesn't slide around and let the sharp end move back upward. And it's possible you might need to cut the opening with two slits to make an "X" so as to have a large enough place to work in.

Or you might just make a sort of flat pillow out of that folded towel and stitch it into place after you've dealt with the sharp end of that broken spring.

I didn't like mine either. It didn't stay full like it's supposed to. I gave it to the dogs and took the dogs pillow.
Sounds like thrift stores are about to become really popular, for those who do not have to have the latest and the most fashionable.
I would always find good jeans there but last wk only found one pair. I normally find 3.
Here’s a weird one. I was in Walmart today (south TX) and asked where the bug spray was. An employee asked me what kind, because at least 8 people today asked him where the wasp spray was. He said they’re out and doesn’t know when they’ll get more.
I plan on buying flea drops early May. I hope I can find them. Getting worried.
I used to be pretty much addicted to Diet Coke in years gone by, especially after Desert Storm....I HATE WATER! Drank far too much of that stuff (up to 5 gallons per day) just to survive in that fricken heat! Now a days I might have a can of Diet Coke (non-caffeine) once a week or two. A case lasts a long long time. Well for the past couple of months every time we visit a supermarket we casually look for Diet Coke (non-caffeine) and haven't seen any, ZIP!

So the other day we happened to be in our local supermarket and the Coke delivery guy was there stocking the shelves so we asked him...."Where's the Non-caffeine Diet Coke?"

His answer: "I haven't seen any of that for months." He went on to tell us that he's only getting the MAIN varieties of Coke and Coke products. He'd heard that Coke was having a hard time getting cans and bottles so they are only bottling the biggest main money makers.

Oh and yesterday we were in a COSTCO.....TOTALLY SOLD OUT of toilet paper and paper towels first thing in the morning after they opened. We're not hurting for paper products, just looking to stock up a little more. Damn MSM spouting about POSSIBLE shortages and by doing so CREATING SHORTAGES!!
and I thought I was the only one who absolutely hated water. If I don't get a large tea at Burger King I won't drink any water hardly. I hate plain water. I sometimes drink ginger ale, but fattening. I can go all day and all night on 2 cups of water. I have to force myself to drink. My quota for the day is 4 cups. I can't drink any more than that. I do take a few sips at my bedside during the night when I wake up. If I have soup I count that as 2 cups.
On another note, my old pick up needed an oil change. I could do it, I suppose, but I have always taken the easy route and paid a local company to do it. Since I might need an oil change once a year, i really never minded the higher cost - saved on the soap I would need to wash my hands, and the kitty litter to mop up all my spills...

Anyway, it had been well over a year since I got my oil changed, but WOW!

$68 for a basic oil and filter change - nothing else done!

Last year, I paid around $40 - $45 for the same job...
then glad I had my friend do it the other day. I paid him $50.

Hey, that's a great idea too. I can easily do that.

Ok. I have learned something about these pillows because of a job DD had in one of the “bed in a box” factories in the safety dept.

The material they are using for the pillows are actually scraps from the beds. Load them up in a semi and haul them to Mike’s I guess.

Other thing: after DD was kind enough to buy one of these beds for me off company store for $300 (retail for same thing was over $1200), the plant had a spill of one of the chemicals they use to make them. OSHA states to evacuate a 5 mile area if ONE cup is spilled. They spilled 100 GALLONS of the crap and evacuated NO ONE. Okay, this causes respiratory failure and blah blah. So I had to wonder why the hazardous waste people weren’t called immediately.

As much as I love my bed, I wonder every night what I may be breathing in. Yes, it off gasses and all that after you set it up and if I am not mistaken, you are supposed to wait 48-72 hours prior to sleeping on it. But, when opened, you could barely smell any chemicals to begin with. Soooo. I still wonder about it.

The chemicals they use are also very strange: inflammable when temps are cold. The spill the other day will climb in temp to 500* if hit with water. It was raining the day of spill so I really can’t see how they neutralized it. But on report to OSHA the company claimed to have done so. Whatever.

In the past month they have had two plant fires in two different locations. One was where they’d simply piled up scrap around the outside of the loading bay. Careless crap. I think this was in CA so I was amazed they would litter so much! (Sarcasm alert)

Anyway, like I said, I love my bed, but wonder if it’s truly safe to sleep on long term and I imagine it will eventually harden up because of the way it’s made. If you are looking at a bed in a box, I would only use in a guest room. But, frankly, just wouldn’t have it in my house.

Feels great, just have a hinky feeling about it now that I know about all the chemicals and possible longevity of the thing. I don’t really worry about it at my age, but there is no way I’d allow a child to sleep on one long term.

But, “circling waaay back around”, I imagine why you don’t like your pillow is that it’s made literally of trash. And that my friends, is why Mike Lindell has lots of $ to spend. Not faulting him for it, but I can’t imagine anyone liking these pillows.

Sorry that’s so long and drawn out. Just a feeling about the beds. And a positive reason on Mike’s profit margins. Sigh.

Saved, to glorify God.
The PROBLEM hits retailers the hardest.
A retail supplier can charge $60 for something that retailed for only $27 a few months ago, but if the customers won't or can't pay the $74 the retailer tries to get for it, he may have to try to sell it below cost for $50-$55 or less after sitting on it for 10 months with no sales.

Of all things to be rationed I found that one of the distributor's I use has a limit on the number of "flints" I can purchase for one of my rifles.
I knew there was a primer shortage!!!!!

I buy Dr Else's it's unscented and clumping. Too much dust from some of the other ones. We have 4 different ones have to be done every day. But I'm sure that is a really good idea back when we could shop and only had one cat.

You can get a mattress cover that zips around the entire mattress, and has a rubber type backing on it that will work as a "vapor barrier". We always keep one on our mattress. I believe that they are marketed as allergy mattress covers. Might give you some protection, and peace of mind. They are not cheap, however. I think we paid $100 for a king size.

ETA: They are machine washable also.

We have a "protect-a-bed" cover that's washable also. Sixty bucks for a queen.
You don't need fancy expensive pillows, but you should either wash them frequently, or throw them the hell out.

Back in the waaaaaay olden days, the pillow and duvet cleaner came to town twice a year and set up shop at the fairgrounds.
Big ole truck, they sliced open your feather beds and pillows, poured the contents into a big glass container and the feathers got blown around and allegedly cleansed of debris and ickiness. Then it got all stuffed back in, sewn shut, and you had clean feather pillows and beds again. You dropped them off in the morning and came back for them later that day.

Apparently that's still a service available in Germany, both mobile and stationary.

I go over to Tuesday Morning store to get pillows several times a year. I just bought a two pack of Sealy pillow for twenty bucks.
Good fluffy pillows, too!
I need to replace two more but watching my money right now due to…food prices!
I adore new bed things.

I bought a mattress topper for my old, too hard mattress and it helps a lot. It was around $100, but that is a lot cheaper than a new mattress. It comes with a fluffy mattress pad.
I bought it at BJ's.
That’s what I think I’ll do. The kids bought SIL’s kids a new bunk bed set and I have the queen mattress. It’s one of those with no box spring but it’s hard as a rock. What kind did you get? There’s so many to choose from.

I think it was a Sealy, I will try to find out later and if it is different I will post it.

My buddy is a master mechanic for Nissan. Alternators for certain Rogue models are over 3 months out, same for turbo parts for most vehicles that they sell. Leaf electric car batteries are 7 months out. Other parts have NO projected delivery date. He has several cars under 4 years old sitting on the lot waiting on parts for over 3 months with no end in sight.

We ordered new windows and siding last September. Was told windows would be October (they were installed in November) and siding would be January. We finally got a call on the siding which is now supposed to be installed week of the 25th as long as they have staff. This is one of the best companies in the Detroit metro area.

Years ago my home insurance co. threatened to drop me if i didn't trim a tree and paint a window
When I spoke to my agent about this, he said insurance co. can drop you any time for any reason. He said the insurance Inspector comes out periodically to inspect the houses they insure and will demand any changes or repairs they deem appropriate because the state of the house reflects on them. So I had the tree trimmed and painted the window and the insurance co. revoked their written threat to drop me. Yikes! I think I had 30 days to comply.

My old company dropped me because there was a little bit of moss on the roof, and flower pots stacked in the back yard. They also mentioned a missing railing on stairs in the back yard. It wasn’t missing, there never was one there.

Stopped at the farmers co-op to buy some blue jeans. Since we were there, hubby asked about the price of bulk fertilizer for the hay pasture. 19-19-19 is now $1,000 a ton. That is more than double what we paid a ton last year. Most small farmers we have talked to are not fertilizing their hay this year.

Local feed store has no sacks of wheat and said they haven't been able to get any for weeks. They also said that they have no idea when it will be available in future.

Just got back from my local feed store. Bags of layer are now $15.50. Up another 50 cents from two weeks ago. And they only had one bag. She said it's odd because they always have a couple of pallets at least. Said hopefully they will get more on Friday. I said I'm just topping off replacing the two I've used.

Just contacted my feed store today to check and see if they have my chicken feed in stock (availability is more of an issue than price). My birds are on a special diet, because I am on a special diet (which mean for me means no store bought chicken or egg products).

I was surprised, the price actually went down about $2. It has been a bit over $32 for the last 6 months or so, and today it is $30.49 for a 50# bag. Prices in 2018-2019 varied from $27-$29 most of the time (all from the same location).
