CORONA Fauci Says Lockdown Will Continue Until There Are No "New Cases" Of COVID-19

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci says that the United States will not come out of lockdown until there are no “new cases” of coronavirus, prompting some to question precisely how long that will be.

That should get everyone up in arms. Americans will accept lockdowns for a short period of time, but indefinitely. NO.... There will be rioting in the streets.

Is Italy still on lock down? Didn't China recently remove lockdown on most of its cities?
China is reinstituting some lock downs and in the long run will have to do more. Italy is still on lockdown down. So the question is, has any one been taken off lockdown for a substantial amount of time? Not that I'm aware of.

I think we are in for a number of small restarts with eventual lock downs. The goal will be an elevated flat curve, that way we still have a functional health care system. Financial life is going to be awful for quite some time.

I don't foresee a vaccine, just a better way to treat it. The 1st world will have to learn how to function with an endemic disease, much like the 3rd world does.

I figure no single lockdown can last longer than three months. They'll loosen things more or less like they tightened them - a little at a time.
Actually, when I look around, I see Americans.

And the one constant with Americans is "we break rules and violate the law".

There are income taxes, speeding tickets, our courts and jails are full and more populated than other countries. They work cash under the table. Don't report tips. Drive without insurance. Drive without Drivers License. Drive without registration. Openly offer for sale ill gotten goods. Pimps, Whores, Dock workers. We miss car payments and mortgage payments and credit card payments . . . and then get really pissed off when they charge a late fee. We bounce checks.
Who in their right mind believes for a second that Americans are going to accept being locked in for much more than one month?

And to top it off, it isn't a lock down. The list of essential workers is obscene - government workers and pot stores and liquor stores? It is not going to be much more than one mortgage or rent payment before status envy breaks out. Oh sure they deferred your mortgage, so in three months you have to find $3000 instead of the $1000 mortgage payment and people start wondering why have I been chosen to lose my home, my car, and everything and that guy two doors down is still going to work everyday AND getting a stimulus check and getting free appliances from GE.

Three months? I appreciate your optimism. I think it is going to be a hot summer.

Fauci Says Lockdown Will Continue Until There Are No "New Cases" Of COVID-19

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci says that the United States will not come out of lockdown until there are no “new cases” of coronavirus, prompting some to question precisely how long that will be.

During yesterday’s White House briefing, Fauci, who has become the face of America’s response to the coronavirus, was asked by a reporter whether social distancing measures will be imposed until there is a drug or vaccine to treat COVID-19.

Journey through London's empty streets during coronavirus lockdown

The prospect of there ever being zero new coronavirus cases appears to be a very long way off, leading some to question if Fauci was asking Americans to adopt social distancing indefinitely, or at least until a vaccine is available.

“Fauci said that we can start to “relax” social distancing once there are “no new cases, no deaths.” Is it just me or is that completely batshit insane?” asked Matt Walsh. “That would keep us in a lockdown for many months or years. And if the virus becomes endemic, forever. How can that be the plan?”

2,683 people are talking about this

“No kidding. We would need to assume that any vaccine would be immediately available, 100% effective, 100% of the population has access to it, and 100% of the population takes it,” commented another respondent.

Italy is already experiencing looting and civil unrest as a result of lockdown measures.

Experts have suggested that this could be a massive problem everywhere if authorities attempt to quarantine entire countries for too long.

Can the President override him? I don't listen to Fauci because I don't trust him.

The main reason they are doing lockdowns, in my opinion, is to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed so that people aren't dying in the streets. Once US citizens see grandma's body on a sidewalk, a lot of the political class can kiss their jobs goodbye.
Our hospital is deader than dead. No patients, furloughs for employees. There's no overwhelming going on.

What is it about all y'all who can't seem to understand that this hasn't QUITE hit yet, and that what we are TRYING to do is MINIMIZE it when it DOES hit??
Look at the predictive models!

And THEN understand 2 things. Reports of infections and deaths TODAY are for people who were infected +/- 2 weeks ago.
We REALLY are GUESSING about where we REALLY ARE today as to infections. And REALLY GUESSING about where we will be 2 weeks from now when the folks infected TODAY finally show up.

Insanity.

Trump is destroying the economy. When the stock market was going up, he claimed credit for that. By that logic, he owns it on the downside too.

The number of unemployed Americans doubled in one week, according to the Labor Department. Around 6.6 million people filed for unemployment this week, surpassing all prior records. The figures released today brings the total number of jobless claims in just the past two weeks to 10 million.

The stock market's S&P 500 losses are getting real: Real large. Every American lost, on average, $22,313 apiece from the ongoing coronavirus stock total market correction in just two weeks.

That's based on the $7.3 trillion in value wiped from the total stock market since the Feb. 19, 2020 high (which includes small and mid-sized companies), says Wilshire Associates. Just based on the S&P 500, the 327.2 million Americans lost $6.67 trillion from the high, or $20,385 each person on average.

That's not an inconsequential sum. It's equivalent to roughly a quarter of the median U.S. annual household income, gone, in just two weeks of selling. Poof!

And the DOW JONES stock market peaked out on 12 February, and that high point will NOT be achieved again.

It won't matter who wins, Republican or Democrat, in November; the village is destroyed.

I don't know where you are, but for now, you are fortunate. A month ago there were four cases in Ohio. Now it's 2902. The biggest problem that I see with this disease is that we don't know much about it. How many people have it, don't know it, and act as "typhoid Mary's?"
I guess (don't really know any more than anybody else does) that Ohio's early jump on closing down may have helped keep the numbers down so far. I also know that the feral types living in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo and a few other cities aren't going to follow any rules. They never do. They'll likely cause our numbers to "mysteriously" jump up.

I have no great wisdom or answers. I just came in from working up the dirt in our larger raised bed. Seeds are sprouting under the grow light and we have lettuce, radish, and carrot seeds ready to plant.
I've got the snow blower to summerize and put it in the back of the garage (thank goodness).

Just chill. We'll get through this. If we don't, remember that nobody gets out of this life alive. I just don't want to drown in mucus.

Stay cool.

I told my family a couple weeks ago to be ready for eighteen months.

There won’t be anything resembling the country we know if it goes another 2-3 months ... much less 18. They will be rounding us up if that happens and moving us to government (global) controlled areas. It will be over. Separating the old ( end of the road for them) from the young. Healthy from sick ( no matter the issue).

Hard lockdowns can't go on for 18 months, but straitened circumstances definitely can.

Did I hear correctly on Bannon's show this morning that Fauci has had to increase his security detail because of death threats? Anyone else hear that?

Yes I did and here it is...

Anyway, Cynthia McFadden was there also, I walked up stairs behind her. Wow, she looks different in real life, bummer.......

She's about 63. What did you expect? Nonfat, woman-length hair, clean, and well-groomed are about all to hope for in looks for a woman at that age.

I don't know ONE person in my state who's sick. I DO know multiple people here (like almost everyone who's not already retired and/or old as hell) who are already in deep financial trouble, with homelessness looming.

For those of you ready to burn Dr. Fauci at the stake for this one, I want to point out he's an ADVISOR to the President and a MEDICAL DOCTOR, he is NOT an ECONOMIST.

He is talking about the "best practice" from a medical point of view and from the viewpoint of one of the world's best researchers on the epidemic and infectious disease he is correct.

The problem is that the "solution" isn't really economically viable and some compromises are likely to be needed in this case that's why the President also has ECONOMIC advisors.

Unfortunately, a lot of history is rather on the side of Dr. Fauci, and history suggests that if a pandemic runs "wild" most of the economy shut down anyway.

Even desperate people have a way of staying home and hiding in their houses (often dying there) if workmates drop dead on the shop floor, people are bleeding out on the pavement (as in Wuhan or 1918) and they may simply refuse to unload ships, carry goods or even simply drop tools and flee to the countryside (almost every epidemic I can think of that got serious).

The real problem is there are only a couple of people alive who remember 1918 and one of them just turned 112 and commented on it a few weeks ago but then didn't remember it on his birthday (I think last week) but at 112 and with a mostly working mind, I'm going to cut his memories some slack on that one.

But because almost no one remembers, they think (in the US/Europe anyway) of a "pandemic" as SARS or even the 1968 or 2010 flu outbreaks.

Which were bad, but not bad enough to get people to drop tools and run; 1918, 1348 and even Typhoid and Cholera did those things up until the early 29th century (and they still happen in Africa).

Somewhere in these hundreds of pages, there is an amazing essay by an emergency room physician that watched and entire health service in Africa simply "go away" from Ebola (the doctors and nurses just fled) leaving a lot more people to die of other things than the disease.

The exact same thing happened in 1918 (and a lot them were deaths by starvation, sometimes in areas of cities walled off in the US, as happened in Wuhan only by neighborhoods) and it MAY happen again.

One thing is certain, what folks are reporting here on the forum is NOT really a lock-down or stay-in, it is a joke and the results could be the worst of both a pandemic and an economic shutdown.

A lot really depends on just how serious this virus actually is and for how many people, and for how long - and no one really knows the full answer to that one yet.

Presuming their #s are even true, it would be quite a while before the U.S. gets an "all-clear". (With the preposterous testing result paucity, no one IMO really knows jack about the progress of the Chinese virus in any event.)

Like most people, I have trouble seeing why a bunch of liberals and diversities in NYC and the Left Coast who choose to live crammed in like sardines should have very much to say about the lives of more normal people living more normal lives (e.g., in normal-density-living areas).
