Biden Confused Again: "We Can Only Re-Elect Donald Trump"

A Confused Joe Biden Says 'We Can Only Re-Elect Donald Trump'

The current Democratic frontrunner fell and tripped repeatedly over his words as he stumbled through a campaign speech in Missouri on Saturday. The 77-year-old former vice president made a series of gaffes and incoherent statements as he appeared to lose his train of thought. At one point, he even mispronounced his own name.

"... We cannot get re-elect, we cannot win this re-election, excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump," Biden said to his bewildered supporters. The candidate himself seemed caught off guard by his inability to keep his train of thought.

At the same event, Biden referred to himself as an "Obiden Bama Democrat."

Many people have questioned Joe Biden's mental fitness as he campaigns for the highest political office in the country. In the past few weeks alone, the candidate declared repeatedly that he was running for the U.S. Senate, confused which state he was in, said there were 150 million gun deaths in America since 2007, called Super Tuesday "Super Thursday," and announced that he would have the ability as president to appoint the first African American woman to the United States Senate.

Of course, as president, Biden will not have the ability to appoint senators. And even if Biden did have that ability, he would not be able to appoint the first African American woman to the U.S. Senate since Carol Moseley Braun was elected in 1993.

Biden's team should prevent the candidate from going anywhere near a microphone, or a small child for that matter.

The thing I would be worried about is who his VP will be. He may win, but he won't rule, who will replace him?
It could be the way they go, but to me, running THE most mentally incoherent old codger ever to run for president (thus making him the face of the ticket), and trying to save yourself by saying "yeah, but look at our VP", is perhaps the worst strategy ever. It's a recipe for a 40 state Trumpslide.

They need to do an intervention on Joe, get him to step aside, and then run this stud of a VP (which I doubt they have) at the top of the ticket instead.

I don't think it'll be long before the Dem voters will demand it. They'll have seen enough of Biden drooling his way through stump speeches.

You're taking it for granted that Dem's think properly. LOL Just poking.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I know the candidate's, got the "make 'em an offer they can't refuse" phone call. But why is anyone supporting this guy? Some Dem's may say because of the policy/platform, but like kiss my grits, you can't get someone who knows at least what state he's in, at any given moment, AND still have the same policies?????

they can/will blame anyone/anything... and it's not going to matter anymore.

I think people are just going to start telling them to their face: don't lie and don't be so damn stupid.

I agree. I seriously dislike Biden... he strikes me as an empty suit who never had much in the way of mental horsepower, but he was good looking, personable and peopke felt like they could relate to him. I believe his ethics and morals are as flexible as Gumby, and his family's personal enrichment is his only true priority.

But... despite all that, it's just sad to see someone continually making a fool out of himself in such a public way, and he *has to be* at least dimly aware of how badly he's screwing up. And it's quickly moving beyond "sad" into "pathetic"...

Once the hospitals fill up with patients lying allover the corridors, people are going to get spooked. They will want to see some leadership - commie or not. Trump is on very thin ice, and doesn't have much time to re-position himself. The arrogant rallies commentary may come to be seen as his "Read my lips moment."

While Biden is only going to further deteriorate, Bernie actually would have a chance of winning this thing. I'm baffled that the Dems haven't thought this through.

I think Biden does have an inkling, if you look at the video on the OP link. As he's fumbling around, he has a look on his face like "oh no, not this again". Almost like he truly cannot find the words he wants to say.

Then there are other times that he seems oblivious to the fact that he just strung together three or four completely unrelated sentences...

As I think about it, I'm realizing that the real play might be to get Biden to control all the marbles (even though he's lost all of his), then make a reluctant announcement that he feels he isn't able to do justice to the position of president, and as such, he's directing his delegates to nominate the person he will endorse in his place.

The Deep State Dems have shown they deeply distrust Bernie, in the same way the Deep State Republicans didn't trust Trump. They not only think he's a drag on the party, they also think he might upend it for generations to come and interrupt the gravy train.

So they use Biden as a vehicle to control the chips, but they'll redistribute them once they are secure. They probably started out thinking Biden was a decent candidate, but he's gone downhill so fast that they have to realize he's not the end result anymore...

Or they could just be really stupid and think that running a senile runaway from an old folks' home at the top of the ticket really IS the ticket!

Do you think the handlers upped Uncle Joe's dementia/Alzheimers meds for the runup to super Tuesday, then backed off on them afterwards?
Uncle Joe's gaffes seem to appear almost cyclical-closer you get to an important primary the more coherent he becomes. As the hoopla dies down, the meds wear off and we're back to Uncle Joe's gaffe machine.

Of course, this goes along with all the usual "you can't diagnose without actually seeing the patient" stuff, but it is known that stress can make dementia worse and happen faster than someone whose life is mostly calm and settled.

I'm going with stress, exhaustion, poor diet and a lifestyle (campaigning) which is the diametric opposite of what is recommended for dementia patients. They do best in a familiar environment, with a regular schedule, not exposed to a lot of new/strange people, and with regular meal and bed times.

Running for president can't get any further away from that!

They really don't have any medications that improve cognition and sharpness in people with Alzheimers... certainly nothing thst works "instantly". Those who have vascular dementia can sonetimes be helped by things that relax the blood vessels and allow more blood to get to the brain... gingko biloba is an herb thst helps that way. But if he truly has Alzheimer's disease, *nothing* currently available will dissolve the tangles and plaques that are clogging the nerve pathways in the brain.

His seeming (getting rarer) coherence at times may be related to the time of day... dementia patients often deteriorate from about mid-afternoon on, and anyone who has ever worked with brain damaged patients knows thst "sundowners syndrome" is very real.

There is NO possible way this guy could run a household without help at this point (much less over the next 5 years!)... running this country simply isn't going to happen. I can't believe ANYone is so blind or delusional to vote for him, after seeing how badly he's declining.

650 pages of Corona virus commentary.

Trump was asked pointedly about the safety of crowds at his big political rallies, and he said he wasn't concerned. Nancy Morgan Heart had a good podcast yesterday of an engineer. running the potential numbers for the US, based on Italy's actual numbers. (I don't have the link - wasn't my computer, but find it if you can.) I support Trump, but he can't bullshit his way out of this, once people find themselves affected. Also, Trump can't control the financial fallout any more than he can control the spread of infection. You can print and bolster the stock market endlessly, but once critical STUFF becomes unavailable, the digital funny money won't work the same magic anymore.

I've been saying this all along. Joe is the perfect "candidate". He drops out at the last minute and the Dims will put in whomever they want. Joe is a pawn not a real candidate.

Hitlery is a possibility. It makes sense as she couldn't stand up to running a campaign.

President Trump was quick to take action on Corona and I think that his steps were reasonable and left him with the flexibility to respond as the situation changes. He isn't reacting to panic, or fear, but with a rational level head.

I have not heard any bullshit out of the Trump administration on Corona virus. So far everything I have seen is an intelligent preparation for a potentially bad situation while maintaining a mature approach to reality, not fear mongering.

There is no data to support the allegation that he is in cognitive decline.

During a town hall on Fox News Thursday night, Trump once again alluded to the idea that Biden is unfit for office. While the lies about the Bidens and Burisma will likely continue, the Daily Caller reports that this new line of attack will be a focus for Republicans and the Trump campaign.
This issue, however, is not simply being raised by Trump and his enablers. Steve Friess reports that a memo about Biden’s “cognitive decline” is circulating among Sanders’ supporters.
The Bernie Sanders presidential campaign is disavowing a list of post-Super Tuesday talking points distributed to supporters and surrogates on Wednesday morning that suggest Sanders partisans attack a resurgent Joe Biden on his “record and obvious cognitive decline.”
The material, seen by Newsweek, was posted on various social media sites and on internal WhatsApp groups for supporters of the independent Vermont senator as an official campaign communique, but Sanders communications director Mike Caspa said he’d never seen it before.
“That’s not a real document,” he told Newsweek. “It’s not ours.”
“This is now a 2-person race, and there will be heightened scrutiny on Biden’s record and obvious cognitive decline,” the document reads.
The message is obviously getting out there.
All of this feels very familiar. During the 2016 election, both Trump and the Sanders camp attempted to paint Hillary Clinton as corrupt. Now, both sides have teamed up on an attack against Biden.
We’ve all watched Biden stumble with words during debates and extemporaneous speeches. So as people committed to examining facts and evidence, it is important to gather what we know about this particular attack and not simply dismiss it because of the sources from which it is emanating.
The first thing that is important to do is to define the terms. Here is how the Mayo Clinic defines cognitive impairment.
Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is the stage between the expected cognitive decline of normal aging and the more serious decline of dementia. It can involve problems with memory, language, thinking and judgment that are greater than normal age-related changes.
If you have mild cognitive impairment, you may be aware that your memory or mental function has “slipped.” Your family and close friends also may notice a change. But these changes aren’t severe enough to significantly interfere with your daily life and usual activities.
Mild cognitive impairment may increase your risk of later developing dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease or other neurological conditions. But some people with mild cognitive impairment never get worse, and a few eventually get better.
The second piece of evidence to consider is that in December, Biden released a three-page summary of his medical history in which “his doctor declared he is a ‘healthy, vigorous’ 77-year-old fully capable of taking on the role of president.” Here is what Stuart Jay Olshansky, a professor of public health at the University of Illinois at Chicago who analyzes the longevity of presidents, said about cognitive abilities after reviewing the report.
“The only test that hasn’t been done is the cognitive functioning test,” Olshansky added. “But the fact that he’s on the campaign trail and meeting a rigorous travel and meeting schedule probably would suffice as a replacement for the formal test for cognitive functioning.”
He said that cognitive tests are typically not required unless problems are detected.
In the January/February issue of The Atlantic, John Hendrickson writes that “[Biden’s] verbal stumbles have voters worried about his mental fitness. Maybe they’d be more understanding if they knew he’s still fighting a stutter.”
A stutter does not get worse as a person ages, but trying to keep it at bay can take immense physical and mental energy. Biden talks all day to audiences both small and large. In addition to periodically stuttering or blocking on certain sounds, he appears to intentionally not stutter by switching to an alternative word—a technique called “circumlocution”—which can yield mangled syntax. I’ve been following practically everything he’s said for months now, and sometimes what is quickly characterized as a memory lapse is indeed a stutter. As Eric Jackson, the speech pathologist, pointed out to me, during a town hall in August Biden briefly blocked on Obama, before quickly subbing in my boss. The headlines after the event? “Biden Forgets Obama’s Name.” Other times when Biden fudges a detail or loses his train of thought, it seems unrelated to stuttering, like he’s just making a mistake. The kind of mistake other candidates make too, though less frequently than he does.
As a stutterer himself, Hendrickson critiques Biden for suggesting that he overcame his stutter.
Emma Alpern is a 32-year-old copy editor who co-leads the Brooklyn chapter of the National Stuttering Association and co-founded NYC Stutters, which puts on a day-long conference for stuttering destigmatization. Alpern told me that she’s on a group text with other stutterers who regularly discuss Biden, and that it’s been “frustrating” to watch the media portray Biden’s speech impediment as a sign of mental decline or dishonesty. “Biden allows that to happen by not naming it for what it is,” she said, though she’s not sure that his presidential candidacy would benefit if he were more forthcoming. “I think he’s dug himself into a hole of not saying that he still stutters for so long that it would strike people as a little weird.”
Biden has presented the same life story for decades. He’s that familiar face—Uncle Joe…He’s the dependable guy, the tenacious guy, the aviators-and-crossed-arms guy. That guy doesn’t stutter; that guy used to stutter.
That is the data we have available about Joe Biden’s cognitive capabilities. What it all comes down to is that there is an alternative explanation for his verbal stumbles and his medical records did not indicate a cognitive impairment.
Brandy X. Lee, one of the mental health professionals who has been very vocal about Trump’s unfitness for office, explained why a declination to diagnose Biden is in keeping with professional standards.
I do not diagnose without examination and do not speak about public figures in general, unless there is evidence of such profound danger to public health and well-being because of serious signs of mental instability in a public servant, that it would be a public disservice not to share the knowledge and training that I have. Biden has not risen to this threshold…
I never spoke up about a president or a presidential candidate either before or after Donald Trump, and neither have thousands of mental health professionals who have come forth with similar concerns in ways that are unprecedented in U.S. history, for any president of any party. I only speak up when there is a medical need of such great magnitude as to risk the survival of the human species. This is definitively Donald Trump, not Biden. Nor is it Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, or any other false equivalences people wish to create for political purposes.
Here is how another mental health professional described the comparison to David Knowles.
Biden “digresses and gets tangential, that’s not cognitive decline,” Lynne Meyer, a California psychologist told Yahoo News. “Trump’s cognitive decline or problems are that he doesn’t even seem to have comprehension of reality. That’s what it looks like.”
We are about to be subjected to a massive disinformation campaign against Joe Biden, and this one will be particularly pernicious. But for those of us who are fact-based, it is important to keep in mind that there is no data to support the allegations that are being made.
UPDATE 3/8/20: As this disinformation campaign grows, more people are weighing in. Here is an informative thread from Twitter (Of course Twitter is the place to get real information and the truth):
I have extensive research training in both the domains of developmental psychology and speech/language disorders. Let me be clear: Joe Biden has a stutter. When you mock him for this or turn it into something else, you are causing harm to other people who stutter.
Stuttering is extremely heterogeneous in its manifestations. Researchers are still working hard at uncovering the psycho-social, cognitive, and linguistic factors that underlie stuttering, as well as factors that predict who responds to certain therapy, which tactics work, etc.
But many people who stutter do stutter persistently through life, even if they have responded well to speech-language therapy. And stuttering *can* correlate w/ word-replacements, circumlocutions, etc.
And *stop* equating normal speech patterns that correlate w/ stuttering to dementia. You are hurting people who stutter AND people who have dementia. Not to mention their loved ones. Dehumanizing many people at once AND spreading harmful, ableist misinformation…
I do not want to speak for people who stutter, but I will speak from a research perspective, as well as from a perspective of someone who knows many people who stutter.
Sometimes to avoid perseverating on a specific sound, someone will back up & choose a different linguistic route–begin a different sentence, for example. Or substitute a word. Do *not* mock this process.
Also, the stereotype of stuttering is *not* entirely accurate. The stereotype is typically repetition of sounds. This is 1manifestation of stuttering, but there are many other features, such as long pauses, perseverating (but not repeating) a sound, etc Stop spreading misinfo!
And, yes, fatigue and stress can exacerbate stuttering, even for people who have developed very successful tactics. This does NOT disqualify someone from being president. To claim otherwise is ableist.

If it sounds nuts, it IS NUTS. For sane people we have become a one party nation.

Didn't he have a near-fatal aneurysm in the 70s or 80s? That may account for some things over the years, but no one can deny that he was way quicker mentally (though with an ever-present penchant for the idiotic) even 4 to 8 years ago when he was VP, not to mention back when he was a senator. What we're seeing now is a clear and disturbing decline, and it's not bad of us to point it out.

But if the left wants to be stupid about it, please, by all means, go right ahead...

It’s painfully clear that Biden is significantly into dementia. Regardless of his word problems, every thinking person has to ask themselves if THIS MAN is who they want answering the WH phone at 3 am. Ideology aside, the president needs to be fully in charge of his faculties from the first day of his administration to the last. The survival of the country depends on it.

Even if I were a dem, I couldn’t get behind Biden.
