ZOMBIE ELIMINATION SQUAD.
Hello.
Please call me William. That is not the name I was born with, but since the name means strong protector, it is the name I have chosen to go by. I am one of the founding members of the zombie elimination squad. Our job is to attract and eliminate zombies, and we have gotten pretty good at it.
Ah, but you're probably thinking that killing zombies would be easy, just walk up and stab them in the head, like you see on TV. That does not work. The zombies are already the walking dead, so anything that you think would kill a person will not do anything to them. They do not starve to death, they do not bleed to death, they do not freeze or sweat, and they do not dehydrate from thirst. The only way to stop a zombie is to totally destroy the body. Even dismembering them is not enough to kill them, only the total destruction of the body, and that is not easy.
Now you're probably wondering how did this zombie apocalypse get started? Well I'm sorry to say it was done on purpose. Of course at the time that it started they didn't realize the full ramifications of what would happen, or at least that is what people like to think. Considering that it was the US government trying to use nanites to reanimate dead bodies in order to create super soldiers that would never be hungry, never be afraid, and would never succumb to any kind of torture, they probably just did not care what might happen, or if any innocent people got hurt.
There are many who think we should not actively be trying to kill them, and only kill the ones that are a danger to us, you know the "live and let live" idea. The problem with this idea, actually there are two problems, is that if you allow the zombie to continue there is a good possibility that it is going to hurt someone in the future, and zombies are not alive and they are not willing to "live and let live". All they care about is eating, anything, or anyone, it doesn't matter to them. if it is meat, they will try to eat it, and that is actually the key to our defeating them.
You see, they are attracted to the smell of cooking meat, so we use that to draw them into a trap where we capture them, up to 300 at a time per trailer, then take then to our base to be destroyed.
It took some time to get all this working, but now it is. We had to custom build the traps to catch as many zombies as we could, and that was not easy, but we finally did it. Built a box frame as wide as a RV-camper. The floor was solid, with metal bars on the roof and sides, and the back of it lowered to a ramp for the zombies to come up into it. The ramp could be lowered and raised by remote so we did not even have to be there to close it, and risk getting hurt, or caught.
Your probably wondering how we got them into the trap, that was the easy part. We raise rats at our headquarters, and when we are out on patrol we have several of the rats with us. When we get to place with a lot of zombies we kill the rats and start to BBQ them on a grill in the front of the trap-trailers, there was a small cage area no zombies could get to, and that was our BBQ area. The smell of cooking meat drew them out by the hundreds, so we caught as many as we could hold to take them back to base and destroy them.
Now, to destroy them, we had to get creative, because the nanites repair any damage, so we have to destroy faster then they can repair. At first we just burned them, but we learned this is not a good way. If even just 1 nanite remains working, it will repair all the damaged nanites it finds, and they will repair more, till all the nanites are fixed, then they will use any bits of flesh or bone that did not totally burned and using the ash for raw materials, they will start to multiply the cells, rebuilding the zombies, almost like cloning them. This is part of what makes them so dangerous. If you cut off a arm, or even just a finger, the body will grow a new one, and arm or finger will grow a enter new body as the nanites can find the material. Blow one up, and in a few months you will have a 1,000 more zombies that all look alike. You get the idea.
The only way to stop them is to either remove all the nanites, or deactivate all of them, and we have no idea how to deactivate them, other then magnetic pulses, so that is what we do. When we get them back to our base, we connect the entire trailer to a lift that takes it 5 stories up, and then the floor opens and all the zombies fall into a 'holding area'. Since the magnetic pulses will only work if the nanites are active, we have to do enough damage to get them active, so we do. I will not describe how, let's just say no one can watch and not get sick, so no one is aloud in that area when it is active.
Once the damage is done, hundreds of magnetic coils in the walls power up and create the magnetic pulses. they travel back and forth the length several times in a few seconds. Then a series of super strong natural magnets, super cooled my liquid nitrogen, very quickly lowers till it is just above 'the mess'. We assume this pulls/rips all the nanites out, every single one. If any remain, they do not survive the next step.
We burn what is left, what we call 'the mess'. Since propane and gas ran out out a long time ago, we use hydrogen. It is easy to get since there is a river less them a mile away, and solar panels power the hydrogen cells so as long as we have sun light, we can make, and store the hydrogen till we need it. We use it run our generators to supply power to the systems that need more power then the panels and inverters can do, but that still leaves enough for the flames.
