I'm all about the doom
Why do we even have to pay to enjoy our parks?
because people today demand so much, an 'so much' IS very expensiveWhy do we even have to pay to enjoy our parks?
Actually I paid cash at two parks last year. Not for camping though--that is card and reservation only. So I didn't camp there.
Kathy knows more about this than I do, so I'll just take a few k out and buy ag with it. Maybe close the bank account and open another credit union account. Hmm...
It won't take 5 years for the financial crash to be complete, and globalism will be crushed for a very long time, a generation at least, if history is anything to go by.My husband worked in commercial banking for 17 years and we've been in business for ourselves for over 25. The writing has been on the wall for a while. When they converted entitlements from checks and/or cash to cash/EBT cards it was hard not to see it. The problem right now is infrastructure. But there was an article here on TB2K a few months back about how Biden was handing out fed grants to increase internet access and bandwidth to rural areas. That isn't just because he is being kind.
I could be wrong - and honestly hope I am - but in three to five years they'll start phasing the digital currency system much more vigorously. Many businesses no longer give people an option to receive their paychecks any other way than direct deposit. They are already strangling businesses with the restrictions on cash deposits. Lots of places you can no longer walk in and hand them physical fiat currency to pay your bills. How many can only receive their SS and/or other retirement benefits except by direct deposit?
I hope people are making their personal plans for this. Even if someone like Trump gets in the WH, they'll just wait until he is out to start. So yeah, 3 to 5 years is my estimate.
No chance. While money can be used for all debts, it doesn't say that anybody HAS to accept it.
Not without a receipt!Had them the exact amount and walk away.
Very true, but we are talking about a government agency. They before anyone else should be subject to accepting cash at all times. Why? They issued it!!!No chance. While money can be used for all debts, it doesn't say that anybody HAS to accept it.
I'm not kidding. Photo taken Sept. 30, 2023.You're kidding?! We've been told by every national park we've travelled to that "no cash". How strange.
According to this article that claims dozens of the 424 sites within the national park system no longer accept cash and some are completely cashless, there are some that still do but they are on the way out. Good to know. It would be interesting to find out which/when each park is being phased.
Rocky Mountain, Death Valley: What to know as more national parks go cashless
Four more national parks are now cashless, but most still accept cash.www.usatoday.com
I agree, they are making it difficult to use cash and trying to fast track cards only.I could be wrong - and honestly hope I am - but in three to five years they'll start phasing the digital currency system much more vigorously. hope you "cash only" realize how close it came to be FED mandated "cashless" during Covid >> only reason was that they didn't want the fake pandemic to be impacting without their power gain ....
if China or some terrorist nation conducts a bio attack on the US - $$$$ would be one of the communal spread methods - not system checked like the US mail >>> better be prepped for the possibility
I get her point, but I also understand why the park service is doing it. Hard enough to find employees who can fog a mirror these days, but expect them to handle cash, then expect the place not to get robbed if they hold cash?
Wow... that's a bit off the rails...feel like fighting or just got a monthly bitch going? >>> I point out facts and obvious prep needs and you see the need to counter it - screw you - go find your husband or whoever - but don't bring it here and VERY definitely don't be attacking ME with your bitch ....
I don't know why that is hard to understand. They issued it. the Fed Gov. And now, they don't want it back.Very true, but we are talking about a government agency. They before anyone else should be subject to accepting cash at all times. Why? They issued it!!!
Think of it this way, ..... you give Bob a note for $10 and tell him it is good anywhere for anything he purchases, but then when he tries to cash it in with you, you won't take it! That will break the system faster than the "police state" they are obviously implementing.
If a private entity providing a non-public good, they have the choice.....
non-public good, some one providing a basic need or service, such as power / water / government whatever /etc. In other words the basics.
Yeah, I know many of these companies like the local power company won't take cash anymore.... not good in my opinion.
It's a twisted logic....for what that's worth. Can't really monetize it..........Nope. The "legal tender" will change format. I've yet to see a successful lawsuit when they change the fiat currency/coinage to different forms/formats. I hate those blue hundred dollar bills. When you get a stack of brand new ones those blasted blue ribbons stick together. But they are still hundred dollar bills and the prior format slowly gets removed from circulation as they come into the bank.
Eventually, after issuing "cash cards" they will slowly remove all of the paper fiat currency and coinage out of circulation and only the cards will remain.
The national parks aren't refusing to accept US currency, they are just not in a position to accept physical fiat paper currency. They can however accept US currency, just in a digital format.
Yes, it is a matter of semantics but so is that statement that is printed on the physical paper fiat currency.
