I’m using downdetector.com to watch these outages. It is national in some cases international almost every major city and all about the same time. Most phone and cable companies implicated. Watching this for my work but will try to update if I hear anything interesting.

I reported hearing that texting isn’t working in England. This was the response; From the alert company; Thanks for that. We have tried making calls out on our cell phones using the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (priority calling) and are sent right to peoples voice mail. Something is seriously broken somewhere.

Northern VA/DC metro area here. No apparent internet or cellphone issues, using Verizon FIOS for internet and Cricket/AT&T for mobile service.
But-we are in an area where stuff must stay on. Other areas might be worse but nothing so far yet.

Messenger stopped working on FB and they had error msg that oops - something is wrong. After a few minutes, it worked again. I don't know if that could be caused by what you are talking about here or not, but it was at about the same time and just lasted a short time.

Neither here nor there.
Space Weather says no major sun spot activity, so I doubt it's sun related.

Spaceweather updates once a day, Solar Ham updates every thirty minutes. There's a thread in the unexplained about the Sun Dimming, that's what happened right before the Carrington Event in the 1800's people noticed that the Sun had dimmed taking on a whiter more silvery appearance. If this is the case the Sun could be putting out energy that we don't yet understand that could be affecting satellites and thus communications here on Earth.

I'm right in the middle of that red zone just north of Houston. No problems. Even the MiFi is working at 36Mbps download.

The observation I looked at was about 3 minutes old, so probably accurate and up to the minute, so to speak.
I refreshed the page and it updates every 5 minutes.

I’m at Chicago Midway airport, cellular data and our local wifi/internet working right now. Just got a telemarketing call so I guess that’s still working :D

The problem is mainly T-Mobile. Verizon (which is the network Spectrum actually rides on) is fine. The other carriers have some issues here and there but appears to be not much more than normal. T-Mobile has had over 100,000 individual outage reports. The others, a few hundred...like I said, that is a pretty normal day for the others.
