I just checked my precinct vote. I'm one of 6 that voted for Peroutka. And before you Libertarians get too excited. My precinct only had 6 votes for them as well. Out of about 2000 votes.

Nationwide, I think we're dealing with a lot of fair weather third party voters. I don't have a solution. At least I'm comfortable with how I voted.

Kerry.

Perhaps its just me, but I see Bush/Cheney as the collective Anti-Christ leading the rightious into the gates of Hell.

I for one refuse to follow that path any way other than kicking and screaming.

Proudly Voted my Conscience for Peroutka!!!

While I knew that the third party candidates did not stand a chance I could not see myself voting for the lesser of the two "evils" as I have done in the past. Bush is more close to the ideals I believe in than Kerry and as a Vietnam Vet I could not vote for a person that used the service in Vietnam for self-agrandizement and got medals for possibly self-inflicted scratches and getting out of harms way because of said medals. I knew of GI's that refused the MOPH so as not being forced to leave their buddies in the war zone.

I am extremely thankful that we as Americans have once again managed to settle a political campaign with the Ballot Box and not the Bullet Box as some countries do. We did it with out having soldiers at the polling places to assure that the ballots were voted the way of the ruling party. There were some unfortunate incidents in the past few weeks that should not have happened, at different party HQs and some polling places.

My WW2 vet neighbor that "loves" the UN so much and said that Kerry would save the US must be having a bad morning of it. I had thought about getting a bit of black crepe paper and draping it over the kerry/edwards signs in the area but on second thought decided not to rub it in.

Maybe we should thank both M. Moore and W. Clinton for coming out for (S)Kerry!!!

If you were take a step back from the monitor, it would be immediately apparent that vote for Bush is a vote to sink the ship. Too much of a "right" thing is bad.

The gov is precipitously close to facisim, with a controlling GOP majority in Congress, and a right-leaning Sup Court. A conservative Prez then would assure that the US has absolutely no checks or balances.

Some naive folks would think that was a good thing, since legislation could get steamrolled through without opposition, Christian judges rubber-stamp approved, PATRIOT Act II passed without debate, just like PA I. And, if power didn't corrupt and people had integrity, then that would be OK - but that's like believing that cops/FBI exercise good judgment, wouldn't lie to people, wouldn't use illegal methods, and should be left to self-regulate. Didn't work there, won't work here.

Kerry is detestable as a person, he has no charisma, but he (1) would not have legislated away your guns, (2) would not have legislated gay marriages (I know, a VERY important issue!!), (3) would not encourage abortions, so he could speed up stem cell research, (4) would not thrown the US to the UN, (5) etc. (6) etc....

SINCE he would have faced a conservative Congress, that would do the legislating. Besides cleaning up the mess from Iraq, trying save the economy and slowing down the rampant federal spending/deficit, Kerry would merely have been a checks & balance, to keep the Congress honest.

Too bad, be careful what you wish for.

Everything you say makes for a very convincing argument to claim Kerry is a moderate. There's one problem - his 20 year voting record as an extremely socialist US Senator that flies in the face of all your statements on every single issue Drew. Basically, either you or Kerry is a liar cuz his voting record is decidedly 1) anti-2nd Amendment; 2) pro gay marriage; 3) pro-abortion; 4) pro-UN.

Checks and balances worked out fine with Clinton, but to say Kerry was anywhere near as centrist as Clinton is just so much trash.

Pub here but wrote in Joe Lieberman. Havn't done that since scribbling in Thomas Eagleton in '72. Figured he was the most honest then too.

Wifey and I voted for Bush and are proudly from a red state.
Drew that sinking ship you saw was a conservative attack submarine so don't worry. I t goes better underwater than on the surface. The old litmus test for a Presidential election was your wallet. Mine is fatter now than it was 4 years ago under Klinton. I rest my case.
