What is the first thing you think of when you look at Michelle Obama's dress?

what do you have in mind?

kind of looks like a peasant dress, like you'd expect to see in the opera, Carmen.

What did you see?

I saw it as she first walked out ...but I can't say just what it is. It made me feel uneasy but I'm not sure why. Can someone put a name to it?

It looks like whoever dressed her made her look exactly like a black widow spider?

Saved, to glorify God.
CHECK Michele Obama's "BLACK WIDOW" dress means? Big red hourglass on black dress!!

I find it HIGHLY unusual that anyone would allow Mrs Obama to wear a black dress with a HUGE RED hourglass design on the front THAT MAKES HER APPEAR AS IF SHE WERE IN A "BLACK WIDOW" SPIDER COSTUME!!!!

Is this some kind of threat? Is she going to become a widow soon? Are the Obama's so distracted that they did not immediately recognize the symbolism inherent in a bright RED hourglass on a black dress? Doesn't anyone else have input on clothing choices?

And that she was dressed in it to accompany him to his ACCEPTANCE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT position is even more chilling.

Here is a video of her appearance in the dress at that event yesterday.

It was a very VERY strange choice of attire on such an important and highly visable night. I even debated with myself if there could be a reason why she would 'WANT' to appear like a black widow. (Like...a sort of tongue in cheek 'my husband is now president..won't be seeing much of him for the next four years' widow) but.. I have to say.. even if it WAS meant in that fashion..it sure didn't come across as anything but..creepy.

I kept thinking to myself..when she gets home and watches the video tape..she's going to be mortified how she looked in that dress. I don't think she'll be inspiring any fashion trends with that one, lol.

Hah I was just saying on the other thread on this I thought of a black widow right away. I don't know what she was thinking wearing that..it was neither attractive on her nor flattering even, and sort of creepy. (very..creepy)

On a side note, the girls are adorable and looked beautiful. :)

Very creepy indeed. I am surprised Big Fat Oprah didn't dress her or at least have input. What a tasteless hack.

At least Michelle makes an effort to dress like a lady. The current and previous first "ladies" always dress like they're working in the garden.

It looks to me like they were trying to coordinate the family's outfits.

Even Barack has a red and black striped tie on... and one little girl is dressed in red and the other in black.

Sweet? Black and Red for little girls? Whatever happened to pink, pale blue, yellows? And we wonder why little girls grow up faster than need be.

Lava. Like the lava oozing and bubbling in Hawaii. So begins the different. Yes the very different, rather amusingly weird, but let's see where it goes.

I've decided to be optimistic and hope for the best. It's healthier and the possibility exists that God can make all things work to the good.

McCain gave an excellent speech. Obama gave an excellent speech. We can all be proud of this so-far-peaceful transfer of power.

I pray the Lord God lives in the hearts of all who serve and inspires them to be and do their best.

it likes like black panels were added over Mrs. Obama's dress (maybe to give a slimmer image for the cameras.......:shr:

That's a seriously ugly dress. Too bad she didn't throw the person that picked it out onto their head. (Of course, maybe SHE picked it out.) Gads.

first I thought it was a black dress with red spotlights hitting it. then I realized it was the dress itself. the image that came to mind was blood running down the front of it. kinda creepy. lousy choice, and I'm not a fashion follower at all.

Since Palin stated her wardrobe would be donated, I'd suggest, she send it to the first lady elect.

This woman needs some fashion advice in the worst way. :lkick:

As for the color black, it could have been chosen for the simple reason to reflect the state of mourning, due to the death of the grandmother.

Black widow spider look. . . . naw. . . . just extremely poor fashion sense. It would appear she will be a difficulty to the advisors on her staff. She seems determined to make a statement with her clothing.

She might want to consider the look of Jackie O, since they like to compare themselves to the Kennedys. LOL Jackie always looked very well dressed and appropriate, with a style that set a tone for women in the sixties.

This toots. . . naw. . . :screw:
