What if McCain picked Colin Powell as a running mate? I have thinking about this for some time. It would be verrrry interesting if he did. I mean it would take some serious wind from Obama's sail. Actually ... I would not mind voting for him as president.

Would it change anyones mind from voting 3rd party or for Ron Paul?

I asked something about Colin Powell here a couple of months ago, I think it was, and one of the members said he said he would never run for anything.

That was the gist of it anyway.

I thought his wife would not let him run as president ... but VP ... maybe.

I don't think most blacks will vote for Powell. They call him an Oreo - black on the outside, white inside. However, if he did run it would be harder to say it was racism if Obama didn't win.

Some black conservatives who feel they "have to" vote for Obama might vote for McCain if he had a black running mate. But black liberals would be accusing the VP candidate (whether Powell, Rice, whoever) of being an "Uncle Tom/Aunt Jemima" for playing second-fiddle to a white man.

Colin Powell's wife does not want to be in the public spotlight. I don't think it's likely.

I hope McCain picks Romney, myself. Somebody who could be strong on economics. The scuttlebutt around here is that he still likes Pawlenty.
