I'm putting together a bag for DH to carry with him when he goes to the big town by himself. Snacks and just general stuff. I'm think more than just EDC.

Suggestions would be nice.

in mine are . . . a few protein bars, few fig bars, small btl water, life straw, silcock wrench, spare pair sox, 55 gal drum liner, 50 rounds .357, bic lighter, folding knife w/ 3" blade, whistle, space blanket.
Thanks, that is just what I had in mind.

If you are driving in bad winter weather; I carry a bug out bag full of stuff. I also carry a large emergency blanket; wool blanket, water, toilet paper, sanitary stuff. flashlight, knives, boxes of chicken spread in those little boxes. Candy, BIC lighter, and more in the bag.

I have sand bags weighing down the back of the truck for better traction too. I keep a tow rope in the back in case I need someone to pull me out of a snow bank.

I have a small emergency flashing light that has a magnet on it that I can stick on the back of the truck as well. It gives out a bright flashing light, to warns people behind me if I'm off the road. I have a small shovel and battery cables as well.

Be sure to change out those batteries in your flashlight each year.

I only work about 12 miles away from home so definitely within walking distance even in bad weather but I have my duty bag with my pistol, two extra magazines along with the radio, cell phone, mag lights etc. And then in winter I have a satchel in the back with snow pants, sweater, bunny boots, hats and gloves for a long walk if necessary.

I have my 9mm at all times.

In the truck I have tools, tarps, blanket, fluids, (no food) and lights, etc. Everything needed to get home as I live and work within 10 miles from home. Walking distance, but I do have to cross a major hwy (I95) so I might actually take a 2nd day, but my parents are at the half way point, so it still works.

In the winter I add a jacket and hat.

Note: I do have a 2nd gun in the truck...

believe sum a y'all are missing what Judy has asked for . . . a SHORT HOP bag not the entire gettin outta dodge rig - not a bug out bag

what I heard is this - he's headed sumplace he can walk back home from - that would be a 24-36 hr trip going into town but having to walk back . . .

so NOT a bug out bag - a grab it and run kit to WALK BACK HOME WITH . . . some thing small but ready right there to grab and leave with -not having to yank stuff out of a BOB and reassemble it elsewhere.

huge difference as I see it - but YMMV

Then, you can call what we both have as Get Home Bags. Just enough stuff to get us back home should we have to walk. That could be up to 3 days, but not likely. We only travel around 30 miles from home at any given time. Most of the time, it's much less than that.

Our larger BOBs are at home, ready to be grabbed and out the door at a moment's notice.

totally agree - in fact that's what we call ours - they are small shoulder bags with detachable straps - 1 grey and 1 navy blue about 10 X 6 X 16 . . .

I've had a battered old flight bag with me for almost 20 years. All kinds of stuff in it-sometimes if flying I have to pull a few things out. On one occasion my boss stopped by my office needing a tie wrap, figuring we had one in our supplies- I pulled one out of the bag.

Mine is just a normal load-out in the truck. If I leave the house, it's a 30mi minimum to town. Most days, I'm 100-300mi from home.

If I had to bail out of my truck, there have to be a culling of gear, with some things getting stashed/buried nearby. I keep industrial trash bags for that.

That's what we do, although, we do have our BOBs in our vehicles at all times, and have the necessary accessories on us.

I started out with the small size Action Packer and now have the large one in the back seat >>> doesn't include the bigger stuff stored loose - only accommodation change I've made in a decade or more was to pack a pandemic goods bag for any extensive travel needs ....

Thanks, its more like going 75 miles to the doctor. A small bag with food and drink to eat. DH has a tool box on the back of his truck so any needed tools are always there. I've still working on emergency bags to keep in the truck. Heck, I've got a folding chair in my van in case of a vehicle emergency and its hot, I can sit down outside and wait for DH or the tow truck.

I'm going to buy some more of those snack kits with chicken or tuna salad and crackers.

And I'm also not talking about walking home, we'd never make it. There are a few people in the area of where we go to the VA that would come rescue us and we could stay at their house.

I did have a get home by foot plan when I lived in the New Orleans area and commuted 40 miles each way. Thank God I never had to try it out.

God is good all the time.
