Today is opening day of squirrel season, here. The hunting party got off with a good early morning start with hot sausage and biscuits and coffee. Cary and DS doesn't eat the squirrels, but DS has a friend that loves them. All they kill goes to him. I don't look for them to be back home, before lunch. They like to hang with the other hunters at the hunting lodge, afterwards.
So, I've got to water everything left to water which are the peas, mustard, roses, Hosta, and azaleas. I'm waiting for it to warm up outside a bit, first. 46 last night. Brrr...... Once that's done, I'll do laundry to hang on the line. 81 for our high, today, with sunny skies. No rain in our forecast for another 7 days. Our area is now officially in a drought.
Taking someone's advice, I forget who it was, I used 2 boxes of Spanish style Rice-a-Roni last night with 1lb of ground beef. It was good, and Cary really like it. It made so much that we're having it for leftovers, tonight. I don't know what I'll fix to go with it right now. We had lima beans, creamed corn, and cornbread with it last night. From now on, 1 box will be plenty. I will be adding lots more Rice-Roni to my pantry. Freeze, first, then vacuum seal in pint jars, along with the cut out instructions. I didn't want to buy up a lot, until I got around to eating it first to see how we like it. It's a winner, so.......
