Thank you for getting the thread started, Briches!
Glad to hear that Cary is doing better, SouthernBreeze!
I'm looking forward to getting back to 'real' prepping after at least a month's worth of focusing on other things. I did pick up 24 cans of cat food on my way home from work the other day to add to what I already have stocked; and added another bag each of cat and dog food on my way home from work this past Friday. I've about got all the laundry detergent I had stocked moved from under the basement kitchen sink to the utility closet - have to clear another shelf in the utility closet before I can move the last 20 jugs; so will try to finish that up; then will use the area under the sink to store the canned cat food and smaller bags of dry cat food.
I have quite a few cans of dry milk, but those are long term storage so I try to keep a stockpile of bagged dry milk on hand as well. I'm going to see if I need to rotate out some of it - it gets used a lot more in the winter than in the summer as Hubby makes up 1/2 gallon jars of hot cocoa mix to take to work. I may need to make up a quart jar for myself to keep at work - may buy some flavored dry creamer to change up the taste; hazelnut might be good. This is the recipe that we use, but we double it:
Hot Cocoa Mix
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup instant nonfat dry milk
1 cup powdered creamer
3/4 cup cocoa powder
I'm going to try to do a couple of deals at CVS when I go to daughter's town to hand out Hallowe'en candy. The one I'm going to try for today will be for Boost - Buy 4/Get $10 ECB. I've got 2 - $4/off 2 coupons. I hope that I can do the deal, but they haven't had many protein drinks in stock recently. The coupons expire today, so if CVS doesn't have them in stock, I'll try Wal Mart. Then there is a Charmin deal - spend $20/get $5 ECB. I'll have to wait to see if I end up with any of the $1/1 Charmin coupons before I try the deal.
I've got another weird work schedule - had three off, work tomorrow, then have three more off before working Fri/Sat. I was foolish enough to agree to be on 'super-secret' call for one extra shift at work this week - it isn't written down anywhere and I'll deny it to the death to anyone but the one co-worker who conned me in to it
The money would be nice to have - especially since I don't know how much longer we're going to be able to get by with weekly testing vs vax - but the doc who is on this week is not my fav - he admits a lot of ASPD type patients, and getting threatened all the time gets old...
It's starting to look like rain outside - hope it either holds off or waits until after Trick or Treat! I'm going to have to cover the plants on the porch tonight; then get most of them carried inside tomorrow as it's supposed to get down to 32*F in the early hours of Monday, and down to 28*F Tuesday night. I should probably go out here in a bit and throw some leaves over my sweet potato beds as well as I have some sweet potatoes that are barely under the soil in a couple of my beds. Might as well go do that now, I guess....
Take care all; stay safe out there!
