Praying with all here. We LOVE you MOLDY!!! Praying that JESUS covers you with HIS golden healing balm and places HIS hand on you. I PRAY you feel HIS presence!!!!ioujc - I need to learn more about fermentation. I'm hoping to get some carrot kraut and turnip kraut started before my next go-round.
Saw oncology today - looks like it will be both radiation and chemo this time. Follow up with chemo doc tomorrow (radiation doc was today), then surgeon on Friday. 120 mile trip for chemo doc, 210 for surgeon - and snow is forecasted. Yay. Looks like I will be quite busy with a lot of things from this point on. I will probably still be on, just not as much.
SB, 2 cups of Hibiscus tea can lower your BP up to 20 points. Hibiscus is in all the 'Zinger' teas made by Celestial Seasonings. They also have a lovely 'Tension Tamer' tea that would be good for anxiety.
I've been wanting to make a big pot of vegetable beef (venison) soup, but keep putting it off. DH likes chicken and noodles, but the noodles get too soft if there are any left overs.I'm making a big batch of taco soup to can. When I finish with that, I'm making a big batch of chicken noodle soup to can, minus the noodles. I'll add those when I open a jar to cook. Busy, busy, busy. Have I mentioned how much I love my digital canner? LOL.
I finished all my shopping, yesterday, for the rest of the month.

DH will eat the meat and vegetable soup with a gusto, and I have a brand of canned beef stew that he will eat, looks nasty to me. I have a good recipe for potato soup that I've not fixed for him but I need to give it a try. Only problem is if he doesn't like it then I will have to eat all of it. Same brand of chili as the stew he likes. Thing is that me making chili he probably would not like because he doesn't like anything spicy, and actually neither does his stomach. The only soup Cary really likes is chicken noodle and taco. I'm canning it in quart jars, so when I open one, 1 meal is all we'll get out of it. No leftovers. He doesn't even like beef stew. He got the flu one year and ate some while he was sick. It made him so sick at his stomach that he never has wanted any since. He'll eat homemade chili as long as it's really thick and I fix rice to pour it over.

Falfurrias i believe is from Texas originated on King Ranch. It and HEB brand are my preferred choices. The two bags of dog food I ordered from walmart was delayed so that means it will never get here. I cancelled the order and was able to get one bag on a walmart pick up tomorrow. And I may go back and add a second bag as there were two in the cancelled order. Just want to make sure we have enough dog food for a good while. Lucky is a wonderful dog and she is lucky and so are we, she was a throw away.
This is my first walmart shopping in almost a month. One thing I ordered was pork gravy, I've never been good at making gravy with flour or making a roue. I always used arrowroot starch to make gravy and raising my family it was devoured.
My ss check came 5 days early, this is the third month in a row that has happened, I like getting it earlier in the month.
DH said there was a frost this morning. Sitting here at my desk having a nice hot cup of buttered coffee, along with some DE stirred in. My first cup had collegen and coconut oil. They are both fine but I think I like the butter best because I can taste the delicious butter.
In my walmart order I ordered three different kinds of butter, looking for a substitute for the walmart brand. I use butter frequently so taste matters. I'm trying the Tilamook brand, I really like that brand of cheese. Its only $1 more than the walmart butter. And another one is Plugra and Falfurrias. The Falfurrias is just about the same price as wm. I also ordered dried butter beans, large and small, after that small amount in a can. I do have the beans in storage, but they are stored. I need to force myself to can some.
Two 6 packs of 6 oz cans of pineapple juice, it really does get rid of phlim in my throat. Extra coffee, one large can of wm brand that comes in a can, although it has the soft inside top and a smaller can of French Market coffee and chicory, I mix the two together. I have folgers coffee stored but the containers are plastic and I want to protect from mice.
I was going to pick up my order later this afternoon, but I changed it to tomorrow because we got invited to a fish dinner, can't turn that down, good food and good friends.
Our chickens are laying good right now, they did all last winter, we had eggs when other people were not getting enough to speak of. I'll take our friends an 18 pack this afternoon, their chickens are not laying. I don't know what the difference is except that we have a closed in chicken house and they have chicken pens.
DH finally brought in some decent fire wood, he had built a lean to in the front of the barn to put some extra wood (and not very good wood) and it has a tarp for a top, so the wood is partially wet which makes it even harder to burn. We have plenty of other wood, but he wanted to empty that lean to so he could tear it down.
My dear brother was very impressed with HEB. When he was in the army the job he had led him to get a tour of the inner workings of HEB, and like I said he was impressed. They do a lot of their own thing, not completely relying on out side goods. Wish there was an HEB near me, but I don't think there are any in Louisiana.Falfurrias i believe is from Texas originated on King Ranch. It and HEB brand are my preferred choices.
We are so lucky to have HEB. Other large cities have Super HEB thst puts Walmart and Target to shame. I love their San Antonia blend coffee it has cinnamon in it. They have their brand breakfast sausage thst is very mild and 2.47 for a 1 lb tube. Mix with hamburger it cuts cost if you need 2 lbs in a recipe..My dear brother was very impressed with HEB. You are so sweet Sherree (I'm not sure I spelled your name correctly). I hope you didn't think I was being critical. And you have other expenses that I don't have. My electric bill makes up for it though.
Not at all did I think you were cutting me off. And I know you have more than a month's supply of your daily needed things. The price of things these days is terrible, but a blessing that we can still afford them. I'm blessed that I get my as needed prescription needs from the VA.Yep. You spelled it correctly, but it's pronounced Sherry. LOL!
No, I did not think you were being critical. Not at all. I have a lot of extra expenses that does cause our bill to go up. After I mentioned the eye drops, I figured it up for myself. It's over $90 for a month's supply which I buy once a month when we get paid our larger checks. I can't see good without those drops, and I can't talk without the throat lozenges which I buy at the same time. I keep one in my mouth round the clock, even overnight. I didn't want to talk about this openly, so it might have seemed like I was cutting you off. I just feel better talking about certain things here in the "prep" thread among you gals and guys.
I order 45# bags of Pedigree large breed from Target and with Red Card its free delivery and 5% discount. A lab and a mastiff to feed outside.Another thought I have from my grocery shopping today. I tried to pick up a 24 pack of soda and could not pick it up with one hand. I had to slide if off the bottom shelf and pretty much do the same to get it on the bottom of the cart. And I could hardly pick up the 12 packs. I wanted more than was in the front and had to get help sliding it from the back of the low rack to the front. The nice man put them in the cart for me.
and then there was the 2nd 46# bag of dog food that I didn't get in the pick up. Just trying to get it on the edge of the basket I needed help to hold the basket still. The lady that I asked to steady the basket helped me get it on the basket. She was little and looked fraigle. I try to get the large bags of dog food either in home delivery (fedx) or pick up because my strength has give way to pain. I had forgotten to take a pain pill before I went to the store.
Its not so much strength but pain the gets to me. I told my DH that I should not be going to town by myself because I'd be a target.
This dang cold just keeps hanging on - today is day 9. I'm negative for covid and flu so I guess it's just a head cold and I've forgotten what they are like. I have to go back to work tonight so will take non-drowsy cold meds and see how I do - I'll be with the annoying team, so will go back to bed soon to catch a good nap before I leave for work at 5:30.
I haven't heard anything about Black Friday sales except online, so hopefully the stores won't be too crowded when I get off work tomorrow morning - all I want to get is cat food and chicken so maybe I can be in and out without too much human interaction. Maybe if I fake a cough the other humans will avoid me....
I'm way behind on outside chores but none of them are real "Have To" chores - if I don't gather the flower seed heads, I have some left from last year; and if I don't get the pole bean fences and tomato cages taken down before the ground freezes, they'll just be a little harder to get out of the ground. We're supposed to have temps in the 40's and low 50's plus rain off and on for the next week, but if I don't get over this darn cold I expect Hubby will not be happy with me if I don't have enough sense to not be out in the rain.
I did go outside for a while yesterday and took a short walk around the yard to get myself out in the fresh air; then this morning after I fed the outside cats I went out to the van and carried in all most of the non-perishable stuff from my last Rural King and Aldi runs that I didn't have energy enough to carry in the day I bought them - that was enough to wear me out again.
When I went outside yesterday, I discovered that co-worker Buddy brought out some more bags of shredded leaves while I was sick, so now I've got enough to mulch the raised strawberry bed and another flower bed, but I'll need to pull weeds out of them first, so that will probably take a while to get to as well.
Take care all; stay safe out there!!
