We just got back from our shopping trip. Got everything unloaded, dated, and put away. It was a good run.

We went to the gun and military surplus store, first. Cary got more work pants and more ammo for our stash. We chatted awhile with the owners. They always provide a wealth of inside info to their regular customers. This store is a sort of a hang out for some of the LEO in the area. As a matter of fact, there were 4 LEO's in the store chatting and buying uniforms while we were there. Very 2nd amend friendly, conservative, and Trump supporters. Rebel Flags on display all over the store!

Next, we went to Barn's & Nobel where I got a new book, and Cary got 2. These will be added to our library. It continues to grow.

Sam's was last. The store was fully stocked, except they didn't have any bath towels at all. Guess I'll have to wait about getting those til next trip to town. I bought a case of bottled water, 2 cases of bottled green tea, 1 jug of Folger's coffee, 1 jug of miniature Reeses Peanut Butter cups (Cary's addiction), 1 case of assorted chips, 1 12 can case of sweet corn, 1 case of spaghetti noodles, 1 large jug of Montreal steak spice, and more toiletry items like Neutrogena makeup remover cloths and soaps. I also couldn't resist picking up one of their large apple pies. They looked really fresh. All items, except for the apple pie, peanut butter cups, and chips were bought to add to my storage stock. Topped the car off with gas while there. Paid $2.90/gal for Premium.

Glad to be back home. Also glad we went today. Tomorrow our heat index is supposed to climb to 110. Don't want to be out in that heat no more than I can help it.

Before coming home, we stopped at our Mom and Pop Mexican place for supper. We ordered our favorites, but it was so hot out, today (heat index of 100), neither of us was much hungry. It was still good, though.

You might try Sam's website for the towels. I've been able to order stuff from their website that was out of stock in the store.

I brought the kittens outside with me when I went out to water all the porch plants this morning - they had a blast running around in the yard, stalking and chasing each other; I'd almost forgotten how much fun kittens are :) I managed to get the garden tilled, but had to go over every area at least twice - that ground was HARD!! Then I got the garden raised beds weeded. I pulled out the volunteer zucchini that was in one of them, and planted a sweet potato that had sprouted in the 'tater drawer in it's place; then filled hummingbird feeders, planted 3 - 16' long rows of purple coneflower seed in the east end of the front porch flower beds; then planted the rest of the seed in two planting trays. After that, I put the kittens back inside, walked another half mile to go collect my van after the guys stopped by to tell me the culvert was in, and did two loads of laundry - hung the kitchen towels out on the line to dry. I had to fill the humming bird feeders a second time - they might have been thirsty because it was plenty hot and it never did rain as it was forecast to do. I think I am grateful - that means I might get a chance to hoe in between the plants in the in-ground garden tomorrow when the neighbor lady and I get back from the Farmer's Market..... unless we decide to make a full morning of it in town. In that case I'll come home and catch a nap before I head in to work in the evening. I'm already looking forward to my Saturday and Sunday off work

Thanks for the reminder! I've ordered things from them in the past that were out in the store. I'm done shopping for another two weeks, though. I told Cary, yesterday, that I would be ordering everything from Sam's from now on. The store was so crowded. I don't like crowds, and don't want to get that close to people now days. He agreed. Even armed, it still made me very nervous. Just about everyone in there were either black or Mexican. Also saw one Muslim man. More and more Muslims are moving into the area.

Am glad we live way out in the rural countryside well away from the big town. I appreciate it more and more each time I have to go there.

It's 9:13 am, and our heat index is already at 90. It's going to be a scorcher, today. I've already done the laundry, and have it on the line. Yard needs mowing, but Cary will wait, until late this afternoon, once it begins to cool off, to do that. Mosquitoes are so bad, here, that he is also waiting til later this afternoon while the air is still to spray for them. We have to use repellent everytime we go out.

Today may be one of those days where we have to turn on the ac for awhile. No cooking tonight for sure. We'll be having a Chef Salad with ice cream and apple pie for dessert.

Temperature wise its actually a bit cooler today, 88, but the heat index is 97 and the humidity is 66.

I went outside last night before dark for 5 minutes and the mosquitos bit me in four places on my legs right through my compression stockings. Benedryl spray really helps to stop the itch.

working on organizing, my brother is coming to visit in August so I have a lot of work to do.

God is good all the time

Did grocery pickup this morning. They didn't have my Biljac but everything else was there. 10 pounds of pasta will last us awhile with what I have in storage.
Started planting the vertical garden. Strawberries and bush beans so far. I want to see what Lowe's has left in bedding plants. My corn has tasseled so that's a good sign.
We close on the 30th on the farm. Can't wait for the young couple who bought it to set up their small homestead.

Not my hand. This was hail that hit two towns over from me earlier today.
This is why I've still got two tomato plants and two salad herb pots on wheels. They spent the
afternoon in the garage. Fortunately, the hail that hit my yard and the community garden was only
marble-sized. Most of the plants will be fine.

We can prepare for a lot but Mother Nature still has the last word.

I bought more instant potato packets at Walmart on Thursday. But they were out of a lot of things that was on my sons list. There was a lot of empty floor space. One whole section that used to be girls clothes was just bare floor, empty space. The clothes section took up a smaller footprint.

The Ace Hardware said they had plenty of canning lids when I called. I got there and they were the Pur brand, made in China. Next time I will know to ask the brand. I don't trust those lids at all.

Good morning you all!
Well yes on the ivermectin. But with all the animals we have, we couldn't afford monthly pills. Howvere they all seem to do just fine. Praise the Lord.
I went back to helping at the food pantry twice a month. I don't have to do much lifting and can sit down when needed. Its good fun and I so enjoy helping out there.
2 birthdays today for granddaughters then ball game at the little church. Older grandson here for the weekend.
One of the dogs got in the pen and killed the boys chicken they were taking care of that had been injured. Poor boys. Very upset at that dog.
I'm so tired. But had a little talk with everyone and they are taking over most of the chores. They enlarged the garden and got more planted. Lots of stuff is coming on and they are excited to see it.
SIL is applying for different jobs.
Had to order new charge controller for solar. Its cooled off a bit so we can all pitch in and get the rest of the projects finished up. Blessing having the pool.
I find that I can get most of what we need in local small town so severely limiting trips to WM. Only went once a month, so not bad but I usually hit the dollar tree also. But I think I can get it all or most, local.
Boys are just enjoying the garden so much, they pick it all raw and eat it. They help tend it and learning a lot.
Thats pretty much it for now.
