We can really see some light in the pantry, although so much more to do. A year or so ago I ordered a box of Pilot crackers. They have been unopened in the box for awhile. DH has vacuum sealed 10 crackers per package and I have a large plastic container that pork skins came in and all the packages fit just fine. DH is like that pink bunny, he just keeps going and going. No way I can keep up with him, but I try to help some.

I didn't make it to walmart yet, so will just put it off until next week.

I cooked our two meals today, ham and eggs and later we had cut open fried hotdogs with mustard, and cheese, along with baked beans. The not dogs are definitely not healthy but the beans are, oh well.

Tired. There is still a mind body brain conflict over the new job and hours. The brain is very much enjoying the change in work but panicking because I am not working as long. Same for the rest. I'm used to working long and hard for minimal pay. Can't say everyone would find the work easy, but it's easier than transcribing.

New boss is happy. She went from wanting me to go to 1099 with set number of clients, to employee with set numbers of clients at x pay and extra pay at $×/hour for side projects she needs help with. Today she mentioned that she just wants to keep me hourly because I'm handling a lot more, a lot faster than she expected. And that's hourly at the higher rate.

I also don't play the blame game. I don't care. That's for her to deal with as necessary. I just let her know if I spot something that doesn't seem to match up and ask her which way it is supposed to be. And then fix it.

She kind of tossed me in the deep end this week and I knocked it out. She doesn't want me limited to only x number of clients. I also take instruction well. There is no ego involved for me. She wants it done x way, that's how it gets done. She has two CPAs with the knowledge and skills if it shouldn't be done x way.

I also think about things in a different way. She likes this because it lets her get ahead on some things.

I am warned that the next few months will be hectic. I just smile and say okay. But I want to find a good computer based organizer for myself so I can stay on track.

Otherwise, bit drained because I was in the city twice this week and may have to go again this weekend. I'm losing weight again because I'm not stress eating. That is great. I really need to find a good leg/calf massager so I can get back to walking. Both for weight loss and for just keeping the body mobile and flexible.

I think I'm crashing early tonight.

Oh, and the FedEx guy showed up just at 9 last night. And took a real photo of the delivered packge. Still didn't hear him. Going to have to get a driveway alarm for the walkway to the house.

And that Blink doorbell is going to have to be replaced. It doesn't issue a warning until after someone is right on top of it for 10 seconds or so. So a Ring or Wyze replacement.

There is so much drama going on here. DS and DDIL are coming over in a little while to see if we can get some things straightened out. I'm dreading it. I talked to DS, yesterday, and he's pretty upset about the way things turned out Christmas Day. I won't bring all the drama here, just know that we have a mess of things to get worked out this morning or try to, anyway.

Have I mentioned my stress levels and BP, lately!? :gaah:

Hubby took me out to the local used book shop which benefits the library. All books are $1.00. I found seven books to enjoy. It was great to get out of the house for a bit but also exhausting.

I also stopped into Dollar General on the way home and picked up a tylenol pm (but generic for $1.00) to replace the one I am using since surgery.

I need to take a look at our pantry / inventory and decide what my new focus will be each time I go into a store. I used to pick up a pasta / sauce and four extra items each time I went in regardless of what was on my list. It would add up quickly. I need to think on this.

Slow and steady.

Well, I'm glad that's over, and everyone has made up. All is well. There was a lot of misunderstandings, and once we got together and talked about it, it was all cleared up. DDIL's mother and sister are still mad, but oh well. I wish they would move back to Montana. Cary and I certainly didn't appreciate her moving in down here, bringing her Northern ways with her, putting us and our culture down, and trying to move in as a part of mine and Cary's family. Her brother went back to Idaho last Tuesday, so that's good, too. From the beginning of DS's marriage, it's been like he didn't just marry his wife, but her mother, sister, and brother as well. They intruded not only into their lives, but mine and Carys as well. That came to a stop, today, as far as them intruding into mine and Cary's lives.

Thanks to all who prayed. That means so much. Hugs to all.....:hugs:

SB, so glad things are settled. Maybe if you not included the mother in law and sister in family things they will get the hint and move away.

I worked with a woman that hated southern women, she was a yankee bitch. Well, the southern woman that I am made her life miserable. she was a lonely unhappy woman. Don't tell me I can't be southern or the bitch will come out in me. I usually let things roll off my back but this was a day in and day out situation. I got away from it by changing jobs. That was the best thing I did because I got three paid months off for katrina and they had to go back once the weather cleared.

I don't have a choice in including her in family affairs. DDIL invites her. DDIL can't do anything without her mother being involved, too. I think DDIL got the message, today, that we don't consider her mother, sister, and brother as "OUR" family. They are her family. Friends, yes, but not family. We can't do anything with DS and DDIL without her being involved, or her feelings get hurt. The way it stood, until today, we have to do everything as a whole family, or it doesn't happen. Mother and sister just waltzed in down here, once DDIL and DS married, and took over the whole show. She let us know really quick that she hated Mississippi, our culture, and thinks everyone in Mississippi are the rudest people in the world. Not to mention trying to shove her son down our throats when he came for his visit. Cary and I have bent over backwards to make her feel welcome, be nice to her, but to her, it is just never enough, unless she runs the show. It was way past time for us to stand up and say something, after the fiasco Christmas Day when they didn't want us involved in their plans, because of the brother being here.

SB, sometimes it has to be that way. I have/had a large Italian clan family. Some families blended in, others didn't. By my parents generation they were friends but no more, with occasional crossover events. Her family needs to recognize boundaries and respect them.

I woke up feeling crud. No clue why. Finally managed to feel human by about 1. Did a quick run to Joann's and Kroger. I needed to color match binding for one last double oven mitt. And we needed cold and flu med from Kroger.

Ended up sharing the recipe for frozen chocolate pie while waiting in line. Because the lines were seriously long. They had 8 self checkouts open and only 3 cashiers. The topper was the couple in front of me that was buying crap food for the kids but expecting that their foodstamps were going to pay for their beer and party supplies. Surprise!

Anyways, I've got tomato soup warming. I'm going to chill and read a book. Or watch a movie.

Did not know this was going on today but you and Cary have been on my mind the whole Christmas season. I have no opinion on how or what you worked out but am thankful that you might have peace now. Family stuff is the hardest in my opinion! Will continue to pray for both of you and your family.

Oh, something that had been occurring to me lately, and came to a head today. The panhandlers trying to get cash when people are rarely carrying cash nowadays. It's resulting in quite a few becoming much bolder than they used to be. Places are starting to have to keep security on patrol to run them off from the doorways of businesses. Today I had someone who was trying to get money from me while walking around the store. She was pushing a buggy with one or two items and asking people for money as they crossed her path.

It's fixin to get ugly out there. I honestly would not have go into the store if not for needing the cold and flu meds. And I only went in that store because they were on sale for half the price of everywhere else. I really wish I could find safe capsules for my son, or caplets.

the whole holiday bellringer deal is sooooooo obsolete - bellringers are hired off the unemployment lists - take their wages out of the 25c donations and the results are pitiful - the corporation retailers need to compile their acceptable charities - hit up the shoppers at the check-out registers for a %%%%% of the total - then split the holiday ending charity total among the selected charities ...

proven fact that guys that won't / can't drop a quarter in the bucket will agree to $2+ if they can just OK the add to their credit card - with the new programmable cash registers & accounting it's ezy peezy for a retailer ....

SB, have you tried Virginia Skullcap? It's one of the best nerves I've tried, and has helped many people whose blood pressure is high because of stress.

I can’t find any that has the “Virginia”qualifier in the name? Don’t know if I trust others.
Suggestions?

I found two. Scutellaria lateriflora and Scutellaria ovata Hill ssp. virginian Epling

And be careful. Start dosing low and don't steep it a long time, even at low dosing. I made that mistake once. I woke up, in almost an upright position, in the middle of a pile of books that I had sat down in bed with to review. Fortunately, I had only gotten a few sips in by the time it hit me so hard. Have to say though, that was some solid sleep. And it definitely laid out the anxiety I had been fighting with as well.

You want Scuttellaria lateriflora. And yes, that is what some people experience. It is much more sedative as a tea than as a tincture.

Good grief. The few things I located are very pricey. Do you have a suggestion based on experience (bags, loose leaf, etc).
I can’t find it in stores like other kinds of teas in a box of tea bags.

No. I haven't used it frequently. And no, it wouldn't be in stores as a tea. You might find it in a mix. If it were me, I'd buy it in a small amount and add it to another tea I was drinking. Start in really small amounts.

Herbs have really shot up in price post Covid, and I don't see a downward trend, unfortunately. I've had best luck at Mountain Rose, Herbco, and dandelion herb company.

If you can , grow your own as an annual.
