Prayers offered up for your Mama, Sherree; as well as you and Hubby.
I put out a hummingbird feeder yesterday; just in case they show up a bit early - so far the only bird I've seen on it was a sparrow
I did finally remember to go out and put the rain gauge in it's holder; good thing because we've gotten some light rain off and on this morning. I can see peaches, pears, quince and red buds blooming from where I'm sitting so would like to take the grand dog and go for a walk in the woods, but the wind is picking up pretty good so we'll wait until Hubby gets home - spring winds tend to bring down widow makers, and they'll be even heavier than usual from the recent rains. I mostly want to see if the locust trees and trillium are in bloom - that was my Granny's sign to start looking for morel mushrooms.
I need to go out and heel in the strawberries and raspberries in a temporary location sometime today - didn't get it done when I had planned due to getting called in to work that day. We had a couple of days with temps in the 70's this week, but now it's back down to 50's and 60's with lows in the high 30's and 40's forecast for the rest of the week, so I may be able to move my houseplants outside to their shelves on the porch later in the week. I'll have to take cuttings from some of them to move them as they are way overgrown! The potted hostas I accidentally left on the porch over winter are sending up sprouts so it looks like I didn't lose them, but I am going to need to divide them! I also need to set out some marked down after Easter hyacinths that made their way into my buggy when I was picking up trip snacks for daughter yesterday - I don't have any purple ones in my side garden, only pink; so these will be a nice contrast.
I'm going to make a run in to the local grocery store in a bit - they have an excellent reputation for their meat with the local grillers and smokers, so I'm waiting until those folks clear out! I've got a craving for banana pudding so need some shortbread cookies; and I think I'll make Hubby some baked steak for supper this evening, with roasted potatoes/carrots and fresh cooked spinach with garlic infused red wine vinegar to go with it.
I don't think I'm going to go to Dollar General while I'm in town unless I decide to use my $5 off $25 coupon to buy some towels for the basement bath; the ones I have in there are getting pretty shabby. If they don't have any towels that suit me, I guess I could look for more canning jar lids; the case I picked up a week or so ago is only about a third of what I use in a year, so it wouldn't hurt to stock up a bit more. I should probably stop by the cemetery while I'm in town as well - I probably need to trim the grass around the peonies to make sure the groundskeepers don't pull my cages and mow them off.
No grandkids for two weeks so I'm going to try to use my rainy day spare time wisely and go through their clothes that I keep here again - the local foster children's closet put out a request for summer clothing and shoes, and I'm sure I have some of both that are in good enough shape to take over there. I have a couple of nice back packs I picked up at the thrift store to donate as well.
Well, I'm not getting much done sitting here on the computer - and I think the grand-dog is bored since he just dropped a slobbery possum toy in my lap, so I think I will load him up in the van while we have a break in the rain and go get my town chores done so that we can catch a nap this afternoon before I have to fix supper.
You folks all take care out there; stay safe!!
