Portland police are asking the public to help identify suspects who vandalized and looted several downtown businesses during a series of political protests in May and June.
The Portland Police Bureau has posted dozens of images of the suspects taken by surveillance cameras on its "Can You ID Me?" webpage. The businesses include the Apple Store, the Bank of America, Chase Bank, the CVS Pharmacy, H&B Jewelry& Loan, Kassab Jewelry, the Louis Vuitton store, Mary's Jewelry, Medallion Jewelry, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, the Pacific Building, Pedego Electric Bikes, Poor Mouchette Jewelry, Rite-Aid, the Standard Insurance Building, Starbucks, Wells Fargo Bank and West End Bikes.
"It is important for us to come together to assist the business owners and community members who have fallen victim to crime," said Police Chief Chuck Lovell. "We truly value our relationship with community members and community partners when it comes to bringing those who have committed crime against people and property to justice in working towards a safer community."
Downtown businesses surveyed by the Portland Business Alliance reported $23 million in damages, thefts and lost income from the vandalism and looting.
