Security Alert – Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan
(August 21, 2021)

Event: Because of potential security threats outside the gates at the Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so.
U.S. citizens requesting assistance in departing the country who have not yet to completed the Repatriation Assistance Request for each traveler in their group should do so as soon as possible. Spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens in Afghanistan who are awaiting immigrant visas should also complete this form if they wish to depart. Do not call the U.S. Embassy in Kabul for details or updates about the flight. This form is the only way to communicate interest in flight options.
We will contact registered U.S. citizens as the security situation changes to provide further instructions.
Actions to take:
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially in large crowds.
  • Follow the instructions of local authorities including movement restrictions related to curfews.
  • Have a contingency plan for emergencies and review the Traveler’s Checklist.
  • Monitor local media for breaking events and adjust your plans based on new information.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program(STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
  • Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter.

So is this shaping up as necessitating a military intervention to repatriate those folks- - -

after how many days, and tragic deaths, and delays that only permitted
the TB to position and entrench???

If the US had gone in the way the Brits, French, and I gather some other European nations did in the first hours and days of this mess, they would have been able to take advantage of the chaos and probably gotten a lot of Americans and even some translators out.

Not the Taliban has had time to organize, more to the point the various factions of the Taliban have arrived in town, and it is silly to think the guys sitting in the "Presidential Palace" actually control all the men on the ground.

Men who almost certainly are setting up checkpoints, demanding 2000 dollars in cash, beating Americans who don't/cacan't pay (banks have no money), and slitting the throats of translators.

Now the administration probably is either going to have to walk away and leave between 5 and 30 thousand Americans to their fate or dive right back in with troops, the very thing "Biden" said he had avoided.

I read the embassy announcement, and I'm steamed. There's not a word there about the contributions of BIPOCs, there's nothing there about yielding space to minorities, there's nothing there about using the right pronouns. A differently abled gay dwarf would gain no solace at all from the entire missive.

Someone help me out here. I thought we traded military competence for correct pronouns and sensitivity. Is it possible we got neither one?

Yep.

On the one hand, this is so bad that it takes effort and intention to be THIS clueless.

On the other hand, you see the deer in the headlights expressions on the faces of our officials, and it really does look like they have no clue what they're doing.
That is just their surprised looks that after saying all this shit they have not been taken out and shot.

This goes as bad as it's looking to, the words "punitive", "Khartoum" and "Carthage" are going to start to become common usage outside of a history classroom....

Will be a true bloodbath, either from doing nothing or from a military rescue mission… either way.
Bet not many in DC are stepping up to suggest a plan

Good coverage from Sky News.

People passing out from the heat. People getting crushed to death at the front of the line. Non-stop calls for medics. Soldiers pulling children from the crowd.

Yeah their already slitting throats. Just wait until they get a hold of Americans and we see it ( if it will be shown). If the moron liberals and the fake news ignores it …. It’s time to finally hold them accountable.

It will be covered by Aussie news and RT. American media won't see a thing, and Facebook and Twitter will censor it as disinformation.
