A comment about storing salt in glass jars with metal lids, canning jars but others as well.....
Cut a bunch of pieces of thick plastic bags, the tough stuff like large amounts of rice come in, and use those as a sort of liner for the metal lids when you are capping the glass jars of salt. Not little round pieces, but squares that are a little bigger than the mouth of the jar. This can help keep the salt from corroding the lids. Plus, I figure it acts as a sort of extra gasket for even better sealing, yet is thin enough that it doesn't interfere with tightening the lid itself down well.
