Just this simple. Look at, read everything, lie or truth, there is guidance for you in all of it, just seek out the truer parts. Always prep. I have way too much of most stuff but still buying. I assume most on here know my wide and I care for our totally disabled 34 year old son at home. Thanks to another member last week I reached out to his Neurologist and asked for an extra 180 day supply of his seizure medicine and he granted it. Controlled but not as bad as some. Folks evil is coming to our world like has not been seen on it since the days of Noah. Pray and Prep... I want to ad I am in no ways wealthy in a monetary sense but God has allowed me over the past 4-5 years to have ample funds to prep. I thank him for that.

Just relaxing and canning some ham and ground beef......have plenty, but feel the need to just keep going/adding. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Thank you to everyone who spreads the word.
FYI. There was a thread recently warning against canning cured meats.

I tried to order salt at Walmart.com. Instead of delivery, the cart said I had to drive an hour away. I went in realz and there truly was no (cheap) salt on the shelves. Would have been 40c for a carton. Safeway had it for about a dollar. So annoying.

Does anyone know how to buy liquor, such as small vodkas, by the case?
If you have a farm store near you, you can buy salt in large bags, very cheaply. It's sold for livestock, and I've used it for years. It's not iodized, so make sure you have a source of iodine if it's all you use.

We're well stocked and wife does not think we have enough. Somehow she hads it in her head that we don't have enough rice and wanting 300 pounds of it and her thinking thats only enough to feed her for a year.

If it makes her feel safer, and you have space for it, just buy it and pack it properly. Rice is cheap. We're still eating Y2K rice, and it's fine. It requires a lot more water and a longer cook time, but it tastes fine. If it comes down to it, I can cook it and feed it to the animals.

Very similar to what I got from one of my inside sources last week and posted in the Bomb Shelter. I believe it's nearly here, folks.

I may well be one of the best-prepped people on this board and I'm still doubling up on preps now. I think folks ignore these warnings at their peril.

Me too Doc, I have a room that was supposed to be a large dinning room full. Shelves on all the walls and shelves down the middle, plus the pantry and the bathroom in that room full and I still need more space. I need to find that case of B&M bread I bought a couple of years ago to put the two more that I just ordered with it. And that's not including my LTS and what's in my she shed, and my seven freezers. I look at it all and wonder if we'll live long to eat it all.

Walmart.com will not let me order any kind of spices, including sugar and salt. I know other folks on here have no problem getting them , but it's not available in this area. Mid South.
I can order dh's salt substitute from them, I don't know what the difference is.
I would think you could get the local liquor store to order you some small bottles of vodka, but I doubt it would be cheap. My dad bought a lot of those airplane bottles at the liquor super store in an adjoining state.

I do not spend much time on the internet but I do watch the sky. Flight trackers and plane spotters. I did see the E-4b but there has been a lot more in the last few weeks. Airforce special ops, navy recon and 135 Strato tankers etc. where I have never seen that in the past. "Maybe it's just the time of year or maybe the time of man". So I watch.
Glad you said that about time of the year for training. In Texas the guard units that went to DC can't do their annual training because it cost the unit so much money to go to DC and the government won't reimburse them. There fore without the annual training they lose a year of their time. My niece is in that guard unit is why I know.

Do you live where you can grow medical marijuana? It really does work for seizures -- I'm sure someone here can advise you on the best varieties and where to get seeds.

I order from Liquorama and K and L wines. I know there are others depending what State you are in. Also you have to be home to sign. They use truck delivery usually like Golden State overnight.

For salt, pepper, spices we go to Big Lots. Usually they have the spices for $1 per container that is from 1oz to 5oz of a particular spice (depending on what you want).

And you live in Natchitoches - God’s Country - to boot...

Mind if me and the Missus move in with you?

We can stay up all night, pigging out on Lazayone’s Meat Pies... My treat, of course...

I have several 12 packs of different liquors - airplane size - for barter goods. purchased them from the ABC store. likely not the cheapest way to go BUT I thought important enough to get several. 2 each of fireball vodka bourbon and rum.

one other issue to seriously consider in this day and age - and this is not to say throw common sense and thrift to the wind . . .
BUT
spend your FRNS now while they are still worth spending and while you still have an ECONOMY in which to spend them buying what you NEED

Every time we go into our liquor store to pick up our wine, we buy several airplane size liquors for barter, too. We've got a nice size collection of them.

we always buy salt in the 4LB boxes at the SKAMS KLUB and its also not uncommon for me to just pick up a couple of the 1lb containers at Ingles or FUD LYIN every now and again. I would also suggest having a spice grinder or herb grinder to "reprocess" your salt because it WILL form into a solid block - and do that despite the fact that you've vacuum sealed it in double plastic bags

If you put it in mylar and use silica gel packets, it won't cake up solid. But if it does (or sugar), I've found you can "regranulate" it by rubbing chunks through a fine mesh sieve.

I have had much better luck using Mylar bags, heat sealed vs plastic bags. Even plastic buckets allow the passage of volatile gasses through them. Thing sealed in Mylar AND kept in food grade buckets with gamma seal lids have given the longest life for me.

Most people around here are baptist teetotalers. So not really much need to have liquor to barter. I've got several bottles of a few things for myself though. Have to go way out of my way to go to a liquor store.

I'll only say the GammaSeal lids have had multiple failures (you can't stack on them more than 2 high, if that) and are *not* waterproof. I still love them for my "working pail" of various ingredients, but only use regular lids for LTS.

We go right by our liquor store every time we go to Sam's. We keep plenty regular sized bottles for our own use, too.

Since the thread has drifted a little to alcohol, let me tell you what happened this morning. I only drink beer, and what I drink I refer to as girly-beer. It's Budweiser Select 55. Low calorie, low carb, and low alcohol content. I like the bottles rather than cans, and since Winn Dixie is the only place around that carries the bottles, every couple of weeks I make a beer run there. Today I was disappointed to find they had none in the cooler , along with a bunch of empty spaces where other brands go. While pondering my next move I noticed the Budweiser distributor guy was doing some stocking. Asked him if he had any of my brand on the truck, and he said "no, in fact he said there seems to be something weird going on because they're getting very few deliveries and have other shortages as well"!
You know the S**t's hitting the fan when there's beer shortages!

THAT good summer is an excellent tip and fine example of just WHY its important to stay engaged here. simple as that is - it NEVER crossed my mind.

THANKS to both you and Thinwater for the mylar bucket and gama lid recs too :D

According to some food storage tables for a year she may be in the ball park with that, especially if you like rice.

Saved, to glorify God.
My sister and I were taking one day and it came up about CANDLES after you have used up all the AA and AAA BATTERIES, which will happen faster than you think.

We came to the conclusion that NOBODY is stocking enough candles. If you whole household has to share ONE CANDLE after dark, that means even with this level of stringent use you NEED 365 CANDLES for a years prep at one candle per day. AND 6 months prep at two candles per day. Not so important in high summer but most of the year has very short daylight days, and lockdown is maddening if you have to do it in DARKNESS.

Nothing is as reliable as candles
or as valuable as a trade item.
We gathered as many as we could from yard sales and bought out the dollar stores till we had more than a years worth.

I don't, but I don't run out and drop a couple of grand on more preps, OC and I can only prep so much before things start getting lost or go to waste. I do go to the store and buy a little more of what we typically use, like canned tuna, tomatoes, pineapple for OC, etc., when these threads come around. Aldi still doesn't have the little hams so I may stop at WM today and pick up some from there and see if they have that B & M brown bread, if so I'll stock up on some of that as well.

Oh, that is good idea. I don't really drink, but what a good small barter / first aid item!
I hope someone who does know, will chime in about it. I know I could go to the local liquor store, but I bet the markup is high.

We have some candles, but prefer oil lamps. We've got three of them, and lots of lamp oil. In the summer we have these awesome LED solar lanterns. We use them for camping and keep them fully charged. They're way more efficient than candles. If you live in a sunny location, they're a must-have. They've gone up in price. We bought ours years ago for $10 each and then they went up to $15. Now they're at $24 but you'll have them for years. Totally worth it. You might find them cheaper somewhere else. There are a lot of other kinds of solar lights, too.
