Notable: A reporter asked John Kirby why President Biden doesn’t just use his executive authority at the border…

Kirby replied Biden is willing to, but wants/needs the Senate border bill first.

Reporter asked why?

Kirby says Biden needs the authority in the bill.

That is not true. The same authority Biden used to reverse almost every Trump policy at the border - including terminating the national emergency declaration at the border upon taking office - can be used to make significant changes.

Still, what is the goal of the people in a convoy? They have no jurisdiction, they may or not have support like places to stay, fuel, food. They can not do anything on their own without getting in trouble. Their are probably glowies in their mix.

I appreciate the support for America and closed borders but I wonder what will happen

I see and read many using the term "invaders" to describe the hordes streaming into our country. Our fedgov is facilitating the invasion.
It is only a matter of time before citizens begins dealing with the hordes as one does with invaders.
It is always nice to see an optimist in the group.

Here is a video from Jailbreak Overlander, or better known as Richie from Boston. I'm sure some of y'all know who he is and that his main YT channel was taken down over a year ago. He's gone down to Eagle Pass and is uploading videos of what he sees. He says the media is lying. (who knew...right?) There is no standoff between the border patrol and Texas national guard. There are also no illegals crossing there right now.

RT 10min.

I'm not familiar with em, but it looks like it was a real bust- less than 1000 folk, lots of stoopid signs that only make conservatives and those rightfully concerned with border security, look like racist homophobic mean people :: shrug ::

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said today that the US state has a constitutional right to self-defense "due to an invasion" on the southern border.

"We will not give up on protecting our federal state," Abbott told Fox News.

He said that the barbed wire fence that Texas authorities have installed on the border with Mexico has led to a "dramatic reduction" in the number of migrants entering the US illegally.

This is the kind of pissin' contest redundancy type bullshit that got us to the point of having eleventy zillion pages of federal dictates. We do not NEED a law to "authorize" what is in the flippin' constitution, not to mention what is an inalienable, immutable, unassailable right to self defense.

What's next? A right to f^%^&*g BREATHE?

No kidding. Any state has the right to put up a fence anywhere they want, they don't need a federal law. This is theater.

And what good does 25 miles do? Letting illegals in "just a little bit" is like being a little pregnant.

And what happens to the small towns and ranches within that 25 mile zone?
Basically just got ceded to Mex. There's around a million people live within 25 miles of the river, from Laredo downstream. Years ago, the whine about the wall was that it'd take a strip from riverfront landowners, and now that "strip" could be up to 25 miles wide. SMDH. All theater. There's a free field of fire with no trees right AT the border: It's called our half of the Rio Grande.

Texas To Build Military "Base Camp" On Mexico Border To House 1,800 Soldiers

BY TYLER DURDEN
SATURDAY, FEB 17, 2024 - 08:45 AM
In the latest signal of his resolve to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Friday announced that the Lone Star State will build a military base along the Rio Grand at the border city of Eagle Pass.

Spanning 80-acres, "Forward Operating Base Eagle" will house upwards of 1,800 Texas National Guard soldiers supporting Operation Lone Star, and will be expandable to house 2,300. Texas Maj. Gen. Thomas Suelzer said the camp will have 300 beds by mid-April, and will add another 300 beds every month after that.

Texas National Guard soldiers stand in the backdrop of Friday's press conference announcing the construction of Forward Operating Base Eagle (KXAN News)

“Before this effort here, they had been living in conditions that were atypical for military operations,” Abbott said at a press conference in Eagle Pass. “Because of the magnitude of what we're doing, because of the need to sustain and actually expand our efforts of what we're doing, it's essential that we build this base camp for the soldiers.” As it is, soldiers are housed all over the area, varyingly living in hotels, tents and even some private houses. Some bear long commutes.

"Illegal crossings are down and, coincidentally, razor-wire barrier is up," said Abbott. "We will continue to muster the efforts are needed to make sure that Texas does the job that the United States Congress has mandated. The United States Congress has mandated for barriers to be built on the border. Biden is not building those barriers."
Eagle Pass has been in the national spotlight in recent months, a flashpoint in the ongoing battle between Texas and the federal government over border security, including state authority to enforce immigration laws. Earlier this year, Texas seized control of a 47-acre park in the city, a park that has been a major avenue of illegal immigration. The Texans also began barring US Border Patrol agents and watercraft from the property, which they've used as a staging area for processing migrants.

The new base, located about 6 miles south of the park, will include a 700-seat dining facility, workout equipment, a recreation center and laundries, vehicle maintenance bays, weapons storage rooms and a helipad. Soldiers will have individual rooms.

In January, the US Supreme Court ruled that the federal government could proceed with removing razor wire installed by Texas at the Eagle Pass border. However, a defiant Gov. Abbott not only slammed the order and barred federal agents from accessing the razor wire, he also added even more.

On Friday, officials said they will add more barriers extending to the north and south of Shelby Park, the recreational site seized by the state in January, add three fan boats to the river-patrol capacity, and expand drone and radar capabilities. Some 3,000 Texas troops are deployed along the 1,200-mile-long Mexican frontier.

In December, Texas enacted a law allowing state law enforcement to arrest immigrants who've entered Texas without authorization. Biden's Justice Department quickly sued, arguing that the Texas law encroaches on federal border-management authority.
Gallup recently found that, among Americans who disapprove of President Biden's job performance, immigration is their top reason for giving him a failing mark. In the January poll, only 41% approved of Biden -- the worst-ever showing for an incumbent at that time in his term.

Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues to End NGO’s Operations In Texas After Discovering Potential Efforts to Facilitate Illegal Immigration

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Annunciation House, a nongovernmental organization (“NGO”), to revoke their registration to operate in Texas. The Office of the Attorney General (“OAG”) reviewed significant public record information strongly suggesting Annunciation House is engaged in legal violations such as facilitating illegal entry to the United States, alien harboring, human smuggling, and operating a stash house.
OAG demanded access to certain specified records to evaluate these potential legal violations. But Annunciation House refused to produce a single document and, in response, sued the OAG to enjoin the Attorney General’s enforcement ability to obtain their documents. OAG has complete and unlimited authority to examine business records to ensure that entities operating within the State are doing so lawfully. And the consequence of a flagrant failure to comply with such a request is that OAG may terminate the business’s right to operate in Texas. The OAG lawsuit seeks to revoke Annunciation House’s authorization to do business in Texas and asks the court to appoint a receiver to liquidate their assets.
“The chaos at the southern border has created an environment where NGOs, funded with taxpayer money from the Biden Administration, facilitate astonishing horrors including human smuggling,” said Attorney General Paxton. “While the federal government perpetuates the lawlessness destroying this country, my office works day in and day out to hold these organizations responsible for worsening illegal immigration.”

That video proves it’s all theater for the giant circus political show that they have created for all of us. Just like the gladiators in Roman times. All a false narrative from both sides.
I saw that video, he filmed uninterrupted his drive from one contested area to the other two that were just wide open 1/2 mile down...unfriggen real.
Someone on IG that lives in the area in TX posted a video where he showed a completely empty gate and crossing, no one around it at all, and stated that it’s only half a mile from the crossing that’s being disputed. He said all the illegals have to do is walk a little further and no one will stop them at all. He says the media is just blowing it all up into something it’s not.

Already debunked this on the Eagle Pass thread...

To help further dispel the idea it's just a political show;

Article from December 2023, highlighting the Texas Guard (Task Force South) erecting c-wire and barriers in Brownsville, which is border town near the coast, some 265mi from Eagle Pass; Texas National Guard engineers continue to secure the Texas-Mexico border

ABC article from December 2022, highlighting the Texas Guard erecting c-wire and barriers in El Paso which is 540mi from Eagle Pass; Armed Texas National Guard makes show of force on border to turn back migrants

Texas Tribune piece on Texas erecting c-wire barriers between them and New Mexico to stop illegals; Texas strings concertina wire along New Mexico border to deter migrants

Here is your greatest evidence of theatre.

Texas can huff and puff and the fed can beat its chest for the audience, all while THE PROBLEM, carries on, unabated, just down the toad.

Well, of course the reports in the MSM about the border are theater; it's designed to be palatable for your average Blue Stater and Urban Dweller to consume, the media has been setting this particular stage for quite some time;

2018: Dislike body odor, the smell of urine and feces? Well, then you're a right-wing authoritarian.
2023: Dislike body odor, the smell of urine and feces? Well, then you're a xenophobic, racist that hates refugees.

Everyone needs to stop thinking in nationalistic terms, that goose is LONG cooked, overcooked actually.

We're living in a fractured nation during the middle of an intentional collapse, the media doesn't have to work to divide the nation, they did that a decade years ago, what we're looking at now is the fruit of their labor. The Left enmass has long wanted North & South America to mirror Europe's Schengen Agreement. (Something the WEF is fully behind, because it's a stepping stone to their desired plan of an entirely borderless world)

Texas is just the first of many in a fast approaching paradigm where individual states (mostly red states) will start to take up responsibilities that have previously been that of the Feds and as that occurs, those state are going to feel a level of freeing independence.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...the illegals are still going to get in, that's a foregone conclusion, especially in states like Cali and New Mexico, but that's my point, states are going to start to view themselves are individual entities as Federal hegemony wanes.

(Last year Texas erected c-wire barriers along it's border with New Mexico to stop illegals entering via New Mexico from coming into Texas; Texas strings concertina wire along New Mexico border to deter migrants)

That waning Federal hegemony will quicken as states form various compacts with one another, to stave off economic and physical destruction, as the Feds simply refuse to do anything to protect and secure the states as a whole.

(Already seeing Texas utilize existing compacts with other states to request aid and assistance through EMAC (Emergency Management Assistance Compact);
