GOV/MIL There is a "Real Risk" The Government Will Shut Down At The End Of The Month

Steve Bannon in War Room says "No problemo to a cut-off."

"Required government services will continue. Everyone will be showing up at the Federal Offices that NEEDS to be there. You see certain aspects of Fed management close or downefforted (like the National Park Service) but the essential services of government will continue.

And we'll straighten this out once Congress realizes they can't continue to expand government service without the means to pay for it."

When the government granted themselves the authority to raid social security and replace tangible money with nothing but "IOU"s there should have been a massive uprising. The government has no right to touch that money.

Now, paying into it my entire working life ( which started at 16 years old ), I will probably see nothing of the money these asswipes STOLE from me!

Social Security to Run Out of Money Sooner Than Expected
.
Started working at fourteen. They told me I had the choice of VA or SS. I asked if I chose VA if I would get a refund from SS? Nope. Now WTH is that other than the fact that this is a serious criminal enterprise from the top down? Thieves.

Owner right now is waiting for his first Social Security Check to arrive. He's lived the last 10 years up to this point "minimally" and somewhat under the table.

If Social Security for him NEVER starts, he'll do just fine. He has it planned so that as he runs out (dies) his savings will too. Isn't that the objective of savings? Without SS his remaining lifestyle is not at all "easy" but "do-able."

SS will make life easier for him - and he did pay into the system all those years.

So I don't think Owner would care if SS is delayed for a couple of months or a year while the Biden Administration is suitably handicapped - and before the next election.

Is it worth it for your freedom - and what Economy/Free Enterprise remains?

“In a matter of days, millions of Americans could be strapped for cash,” Yellen said.
“Nearly 50 million seniors could stop receiving Social Security checks for a time. Troops could go unpaid. Millions of families who rely on the monthly child tax credit could see delays.”

So will they stop welfare also? Cause if they take the Social Security checks many of those old people will be headed to the welfare rolls.

Medicaid and food stamp payments to state programs.

I'm going to say this again. An event that physically prevents them from convening to vote on budget and/or debt ceiling will be catastrophic in terms of the financial stability of the U.S and the rest of the world. No joke.

Then maybe time to hunker in the bunker will come. Imagine the riots if the food stamps stop coming to the inner city.

Very misleading headline. Schumer/Pelosi want to attach the debt ceiling/suspension to the $3.5Trillion Reconciliation bill and try to get a Republican to vote for it so they can call it bipartisan, Schumer/Pelosi have control of Congress and can do it alone but they don't want to own it, they don't need a single Republican vote to pass that piece of crap.

Mitch McConnell says the GOP will vote for the US to default on its debt
Ayelet Sheffey, Joseph Zeballos-Roig

6-7 minutes

  • Pelosi and Schumer said they would attach a debt-ceiling suspension to the government-funding bill.
  • McConnell quickly struck down the idea, saying the GOP would not vote for the legislation.
  • They effectively dared him to vote for the US to default on its debt, and he met their dare.

As the White House stressed the urgency of raising the debt ceiling to avoid a government default, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Monday that the House would pass legislation to fund the government that includes a debt-limit suspension through the end of next year.

It was a dare to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who would need to lend ten Republican votes for it to avert the filibuster and clear the Senate. The Kentucky Republican was unfazed.

"We will not support legislation that raises the debt limit," McConnell said after Pelosi and Schumer's announcement. "Democrats do not need our help."

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told Congress earlier this month that the government's money would likely run out in October because of financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement on Monday that the House would pass legislation before October to fund the government through the end of the year and tack on a debt-ceiling suspension through December "to once again meet our obligations and protect the full faith and credit of the United States."

"Addressing the debt limit is about meeting obligations the government has already made, like the bipartisan emergency COVID relief legislation from December as well as vital payments to Social Security recipients and our veterans," the lawmakers wrote. "Furthermore, as the Administration warned last week, a reckless Republican-forced default could plunge the country into a recession ."

Republican lawmakers have said they won't get involved with raising the debt limit and want Democrats to go at it alone, citing their "irresponsible spending" on a $3.5 trillion social-spending bill. Yet renewing the nation's ability to borrow and pay its bills — known as the debt ceiling — also deals with covering spending obligations that Congress already approved.
Democrats are assailing what they view as Republican hypocrisy, noting the national debt grew nearly $8 trillion under President Donald Trump — chiefly on the back of GOP tax cuts and bipartisan emergency spending packages during the pandemic. Republicans supported raising the debt ceiling three times during the Trump administration.

By tacking on the debt ceiling to the government-funding legislation, Pelosi and Schumer are daring the GOP to vote for a default. "The American people expect our Republican colleagues to live up to their responsibilities and make good on the debts they proudly helped incur in the December 2020 '908' COVID package that helped American families and small businesses reeling from the COVID crisis," Pelosi and Schumer wrote, referring to the December stimulus package passed under President Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Pelosi wrote in a letter that every time the debt limit has needed to be raised, "Congress has addressed it in a bipartisan basis." On the same day, Yellen urged Congress to come together to raise the limit, citing the "economic catastrophe" that could result with the failure to do so.

A large majority of Senate Republicans are retrenching and following McConnell's lead, saying they'll cast a vote against the measure. They're also insisting that Democrats can employ reconciliation, the same party-line process that's being used to muscle through a $3.5 trillion social spending package.

"[Democrats] got the votes to keep us from defaulting, let's see what they do," Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the ranking member in the Appropriations Committee, told Insider.

Shelby was among a handful of GOP senators who didn't sign onto a pledge in August to oppose lifting the debt ceiling. That roster included Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who was pressed by reporters on whether she supported raising the borrowing cap. "I'm not answering that," she said.

Yep it's all about political hay.

Come on and tell me now, who didn't think that was what was going on. Really. If you didn't think it was political, I've got to come up with something to sell you quick, like a bridge or something.

Anyone think the not sending medical stuff to Florida, or Haitians in TX is not payback for opposing Biden? I've got a bridge for you too.

BTW as I understand it SS is not a part of the budget or debt. The last time there was a shutdown under Trump, no one drawing SS missed a check.

For debt ceiling shutdown, social security and VA retirement benefits, Medicaid,, food stamps, and anything else receiving federal funding have to get in line with other debts.

Debt is handled on a daily basis and governed by the available cash coming in that day. Maric talked to a call center employee. Read business rags from around the world to get a better idea of what a debt ceiling shutdown does to the local economies and programs.

The Treasury can meet the government’s obligations for a while by relying on incoming tax revenue, cash reserves and the “extraordinary measures” authorized by law, such as delaying some payments to federal employees’ retirement accounts.

At some point, however, it won’t have the funds needed to make a payment that was due, whether it was paychecks for federal employees, supplies for the military, Social Security benefits, reimbursements for doctors caring for Medicaid and Medicare patients or interest payments on Treasury bills.

That's not a risk, that's a blessing. I mean regular peeps are outta work. Maybe they should be unemployed too.

If you get government checks, prep now - start putting away. Everyone should have an emergency fund set aside. I know a lot of people are just about getting by on those checks, but if you can, do what you can to put the smallest bit away, a little at a time so that you can have a cushion. Or, start looking at other options to downsize.

Day by day
In my nearly 30-year career with DoD as a civilian, I went through every one of those darn budget shutdowns. Only one had us sent home technically without pay for half a day. We couldn't do anything that would cause an obligation of funds (purchasing, as an example), which included our presence, unless we were essential staff. We did get back pay for that half a day. Most of my unit were so ticked off at the whole fiasco we actually didn't want the darn back pay, just to make a point.

They did move the fiscal year from 1 July to 1 October to stop this mess. That sure didn't last long.

Well, most everyone here voted for Trump because he figuratively "promised to burn it down" and reduce the Federal involvement in your lives.

Looks like the Democrats are going to beat him to it - one way or another.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you - Troop movements to impose the assent a small minority don't have - and will never get.

Going out on a limb here. I say the debt ceiling will be raised just in time but much hay will be made by both parties of green. When all these folks start kicking off, hell is going to get crowded.

The republicans (opposition team for optics sake) will cave in as they always do

I wish they would hold the line for a change though and vote NO on any continuing resolution or debt increase....
Because Biden's spending will be 10 Trillion this year if they give in

Shut the damned thing DOWN!
I can live without income for years and years-- and I'll gladly feed neighbors

But I'm not expecting it to happen -- the hacks in Dc will cave in because they're all actually on the same team - playing ball for the globalist oligarchs calling the real shots - and they've decided it's time to take the USA & the western world down to make way for that one world order ruled from afar by the very few demons at the top...
