HEALTH The Supplement Thread

I am always interested in what others are taking and how those supplements are helping with various issues.
I have "energy issues" partly due to hypothyroidism and party due to my strange work hours.
I have finally found a thyroid med that works quite well.

In addition to that, I take a whole foods vitamin supplement: https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Plus...549226067&sr=8-3&keywords=source+of+life+gold

as well as this product: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L5Q951S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It helps to get rid of my fog brain and allows me to concentrate on my course work.

A friend recently suggested I try collagen and it has gotten rid of the little aches and pains in my joints when I sleep at night.

What are y'all using and why?

I take Plexus Triplex Combo and Plexus XFactor Plus vitamin. Next month will be 4 years on Plexus. I joined as an ambassador so I could get my products wholesale. I do sell a little too. In that 4 years I have gotten off thyroid medication, one blood pressure pill, and another blood pressure pill has been reduced by 2/3. Within 7 days of starting the first part of the Triplex, I felt like a new person! I will never stop taking my Plesus. I don't want to feel like I did before, ever again.. My joints hurt even just cutting up the food on my dinner plate. All that pain was gone in the first week. I could go on and on about my symptoms disappearing. But it really was a miracle for me. I thank God every day for a friend saying try this, it might help.

CholestOff Plus has been helpful in lowering my cholesterol levels. Made of plant sterols and stanols.
Seeking more of the same results, I recently started taking Costco's version of psyllium fiber. I'm also adding whole and ground flax seeds to my whole wheat baking.

My most important supplement is Concentrace Liquid Minerals distilled from Salt Lake UT. Over 70 ionic minerals in trace amounts are in it and due to our depleted soils we are not getting adequate mineralization in our diets. The minerals are even more important than the vitamins because due to lack of mineralization even a lot of the vitamins can not be assimilated. I've been taking these drops daily for more than 10 years now. In winter I take 5000 I.U. of Vitamin D3 which the body can not produce on it's own. I take a daily B complex liquid vitamin. In addition to the above I take 3 grams of Vitamin C and 1.2 grams of lysine for cardiovascular and to round it all out I take a gram of curcumin with piperine as an anti-inflammatory. I have not had a sick day in years now....not even a cold or sniffles. So many things are lacking in our foods with so many environmental toxins today that it's almost impossible to stay healthy without supplementation.

In the nearly five years since I had my heart attack, I have passed two DOT required stress tests with flying colors and have been taking ZERO drugs. Except coffee...

However, I did immediately eliminate all processed foods from my diet and all our made-from-scratch food now uses either organic non-refined, cold-pressed coconut oil or avocado oil. All our baked food uses only organic, freshly ground Einkorn wheat (an ancient grain wheat with a different DNA structured gluten, and much less thereof) which almost immediately eliminated my chronic fatigue and brain fog.

One other big improvement came from using turmeric extract with bio-peperine (black pepper extract that makes the curcumin 700% more bio-available). It is an anti-cancer, anti-stroke part of my strategy.

Most of the other things are recommended in “Healing Lyme”, which outlines various protocols using herbal supplements to defeat tick-based diseases.

Also, however, we have also eliminated all white sugar, using raw sugar or honey or (real) maple syrup only.

Last but not least I gave up a truck driving job which was too sedentary, (was causing heart arrythmia and returned to land surveying for the exercise. Plus cutting all my own firewood and handling it several times through out the year to get it from forest to the wood stove, keeps me active and in shape.
Clean air, clean water, clean food, live in the country, and praise God. It works.

ETA: there is maine seaweed powder/flakes in all our food here for the salt and trace minerals.

EVERY DAY

Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Honey Tea: First thing in the morning: 2Tbs Organic unfiltered Vinegar and 1 Tbs Lemon Juice with 1 Tbs local Honey & 1 ½ tsp Diatomaceous Earth. First begun in camaraderie with my husband who has digestive issues, but I like it for the kick! The jury is still out on the DE.

Turmeric and Piperine 3 times a day for Arthritis with good results (I'm starting Collagen shortly to see if it improves things even more)

500 mg Vitamin C AM and PM

PARSLEY TEA: I want to really recommend this, especially to people with lung issues. I first started drinking it to give my kidneys and liver some support (due to my high fat, high protein diet and distaste for water), but I discovered it has cleared up some lung issues I've put up with for years. I lived with second hand smoke the first 17 years of my life, and developed double pneumonia while in college. Lost a third of my lung capacity to scarring. As a result, if I ever breathed really deeply, I would have to cough. After 30 days of 1 cup of parsley tea each morning, my lungs have cleared up. Weird. YMMV.

Sleeping on a “grounding “ sheet. Not actually a supplement, but it's made all the difference in my sleep patterns. I'm a very light sleeper and used to wake up every hour or so over the 5 or 6 hours I was asleep. Read about “grounding”, was VERY skeptical, did a bunch of research, and finally tried it two years ago. I've slept the night straight through every night from day one. The founder of earthing.com, Clint Ober, is a hoot – the story of how he got universities to finally research his idea is charming. Again, YMMV.

Taking care of the animals on two educational, hobby farms, every day, day in, day out. I agree with everyone who says hard work in the fresh air is a Godsend.

As needed:

2 Tbs Elderberry Syrup twice a day if I feel even the slightest hint of a cold symptom and until the symptoms disappear.

Zinc 4 times a day if I get the sniffles (which is almost never!) and Ginger Tea.

Epsom Salt foot baths and Magnesium Spray before bed as I'm prone to leg cramps at night if I don't. (Butter is my favorite food, and while not Keto, I'm a big meat eater and love cheese, hence I probably have lowered magnesium levels.)

I used to take a B vitamin complex and St. John's Wort for fatigue and stress (not for anxiety – I'm not the anxious type- just low level stress from being self-employed in my field.) But once I cut most wheat products and refined sugar out of my diet, that seemed to clear up. But I'll never give up croissants with lots of butter or ice cream. I'm happy to live with the consequences!

Nori (Dired Seaweed) for trace minerals One of my Asian students and I eat sheets of it as a snack at school.

I was hypothyroid. When I started Plexus, I was taking 60 grains of Armour every morning. I felt better within days, but it took a long time before I could start backing down the dosage. But the Triplex works to heal your gut. Gut imbalance is the root of many autoimmune diseases. If you have more questions, just ask or message me.
