It's Halloween movie time on TB2K.
Here are a variety of movies in the spirit of Halloween to kick back from the real world.
There was also another 16 last weekend if you missed them.
I've tried to provide a range of options, by vintage and scare factor.
Find a few and enjoy those. Some are not very scary,
but others shouldn't be watched with the lights off at night...

The IMDB links will give more information and details about each movie.

The movies are located at youtube and/or archive.org, as usual.
Some are on both platforms.
I'll put each in a separate post.
That will make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.

Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.
There have been some horror-worthy ones posted in the past year.

Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman 1943​

Starring Lon Cheney Jr.

Graverobbers open the grave of the Wolfman and awake him. He doesn't like the idea of being immortal and killing people when the moon is full. He tries to find Dr. Frankenstein, in the hopes that the Dr. can cure him, but Frankenstein is dead and only his Monster is alive and this one wants to live, not to die like the Wolfman.

The House on Haunted Hill 1959​

Starring Vincent Price

Eccentric millionaire Fredrick Loren and his 4th wife, Annabelle, have invited 5 people to the house on Haunted Hill for a "haunted House" party. Whoever will stay in the house for one night will earn ten thousand dollars each. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors.

The Little Shop of Horrors 1960

A young florist-shop assistant creates a carnivorous plant that feeds on human flesh and soon convinces him to start killing people. His boss is thrilled when the plant brings much more business to the shop, and his co-worker and crush is thrilled that he named the plant after her. Halloween 1978 ​

Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, and Tony Moran

- Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.

Fifteen years ago, 6 year old Michael Myers brutally killed his older sister. The silent child was incarcerated in the Smith's Grove Sanitarium under the care of psychiatrist Sam Loomis. The town of Haddonfield had slowly began to forget the tragic crime, until Loomis returned to the town to warn of Myers escape from Smith's Grove. The Lost Boys 1987​

A mother and her two sons move to a small coastal town in California. The town is plagued by mysterious deaths. The younger boy makes friends with two other boys who claim to be vampire hunters while the older boy is drawn into the gang of bikers by a beautiful girl. The older boy starts sleeping days and staying out all night while the younger boy starts getting into trouble because of his friends' obsession.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 1986​

- He's not Freddy. He's not Jason. He's real.

Loosely based on serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, the film follows Henry and his roommate Otis. Henry introduces Otis to random murder as a way to deal with stress. The killing spree depicted in the film starts after Otis' sister Becky comes to stay with them. Henry lacks compassion in everything he does and isn't the kind to leave behind witnesses.

This low budget film started Michael Rooker's acting career. This film didn't go anywhere until it started being shown at large film festivals then it became famous. It was never officially rated, but consider it a hard R rating.

Cold in July 2014​

Starring Michael Hall, Sam Shepard, and Don Johnson.

- How Many Men Can One Bullet Kill? is an apt introduction to this film that was well-received at both Sundance and Cannes film festivals.

Cold in July is a Texas neo-noir set in 1989. A man kills an intruder in his home one night. The victim's dad subsequently turns up and starts hassling Dane and his family. The police get involved but things begin to take a turn for the unpredictable when it soon becomes apparent that the dead man isn't who he appears to be. This leads to a spiral of dark, brutal secrets.

Grindhouse 2007 ​

- Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's homage to exploitation double features in the '60s and '70s with two back-to-back cult films that include previews of coming attractions between them. The movie Planet Terror (from last week) is an expanded version of the first film in this double feature.

An homage to exploitation B-movie thrillers that combines two feature-length segments into one double-bill designed to replicate the grind house theater-going experience of the 1970s. In "Death Proof," a psycho named Stuntman Mike stalks and kills beautiful women with his car. In "Planet Terror," a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos." A gun-legged woman named Cherry and her martial arts-wielding partner take on the zombie army. The two films are fused together by fake movie trailers.

1408 (made in 2007)​

- A man who specialises in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror.

Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 is about a supernatural writer. As research for his latest book, he is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. He believes that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumors. The hotel manager has strong objections to his stay and warns him of possible danger to come. He is determined to go anyway. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.

I saw this movie at the drive-in when I was 5-6 years old. It scared the crap out of me so much that 60+ years later, I can still remember the nightmares I had about the acid pit. I finally watched it again many years later as an adult and then understood why my sister just rolled her eyes at my terror all those years ago. :rolleyes:

I hadn't watched The House on Haunted Hill, but just finished it. I could see how it would give a young child nightmares.

Run time 2:33 and it's about an extinction event involving an asteroid. Scary stuff. Just thought I'd share.
