It's Halloween movie time on TB2K, at least part 1.
Here are a variety of movies in the spirit of Halloween to kick back from the real world.
There will be another batch next weekend. I tried to provide a range of options, by vintage and scare factor.
Find a few and enjoy those. Some are not very scary, but others shouldn't be watched with the lights off at night...
The movies are located at youtube and/or archive.org, as usual. Some are on both platforms.
I'll put each in a separate post. That will make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.

THE WOLFMAN 1941​

Starring Claude Rains, Warren William, and Lon Chaney Jr.

Larry Talbot returns to the family estate in Wales after having spent 18 years in the United States. He's now the heir to the family estate after the death of his older brother John. His father, Sir John Talbot, welcomes him back warmly and he soon settles into local life. Larry takes an interest in a local girl, Gwen Conliffe, but while walking her and her friend home late one evening is bitten by a wolf. Fables and myths abound about werewolves, beasts that are half-man and half-wolf.

THE GIANT GILA MONSTER 1959​

A small town in Texas finds itself under attack from a hungry 50-foot-long Gila monster. No longer content to forage in the desert, the giant lizard chomps on motorists and train passengers before descending on the town itself. Only Chase Winstead, a quick-thinking mechanic, can save the town from being wiped out.

This is a fun movie and not really scary.

THE KILLER SHREWS 1959​

On an isolated island, a small group of people are terrorized by giant voracious shrews in the midst of a hurricane.

This is another fun and not so scary movie. This movie along with the Gila Monster (above) were directed by Ken Curtis (Festus in Gunsmoke) and he also acts in this one. Both were filmed in the Lake Dallas area (northeast of Dallas, TX) and marketed to drive-in theaters as a double feature. Both are above-average B-movies and family friendly.

THE BIRDS 1963

This Hitchcock film follows a wealthy San Francisco socialite who pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town. Things slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people.

THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM 1961​

Francis Barnard goes to Spain, when he hears his sister Elizabeth has died. Her husband Nicholas Medina, the son of the brutest torturer of the Spanish Inquisition, tells him she has died of a blood disease, but Francis finds this hard to believe. After some investigating he finds out that it was extreme fear that was fatal to his sister and that she may have been buried alive! Strange things then start to happen in the Medina castle.

This is a Vincent Price film based on the Edgar Allen Poe text and seems kind of scary.

THE NIGHT STALKER 1972 -- THE NIGHT STRANGLER 1973 -- KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER 1974​

Starring Darren McGavin as Kolchak

- An abrasive Las Vegas newspaper reporter investigates a series of murders committed by a vampire.
- A reporter hunts down a 144-year old alchemist who is killing women for their blood.

These were made for TV and well done. First was The Night Stalker movie in 1972. Second was The Night Strangler in 1973. In 1974, they made a 20 episode series called Kolchak: The Night Stalker where each week was an early x-files type mystery to investigate. For the series, read the first review to match the file names for each episode to the real episode number and name.

TRILOGY OF TERROR 1975​

Starring Karen Black

Three stories interwoven together. The first, about a college student infatuated with his teacher. The second, a paranoid tale of two sisters - one good, the other evil, and the third about a Native American tribal doll that comes to life and terrorizes a woman in her apartment.

This was also made for TV, but was popular and remembered by many people. Several years ago, my wife asked me to find a copy of it.

THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN 1976​

Starring Ben Johnson

The residents of 1946 Texarkana, Texas should be celebrating the return of their boys from WWII, but a mysterious hooded killer is stalking victims by night, murdering them in horrendous ways, and completely befuddling the local police force.

This is a true story told sort of like a detective show, but it was definitely made for drive-in theaters. It's a little scary in a few scenes and has some funny moments, but overall it's OK. The post-WW2 cars/clothes are interesting. Dawn Wells (Mary Anne from Gilligan's island) makes a short appearance. It was worth watching when I saw it a week ago.

THE OMEN 1976​

Starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick

Robert and Katherine Thorn seem to have it all. They are happily married and he is the US Ambassador to Great Britain, but they want nothing more than to have children. When Katharine has a stillborn child, Robert is approached by a priest at the hospital who suggests that they take a healthy newborn whose mother has just died in childbirth. Without telling his wife he agrees. After relocating to London, strange events - and the ominous warnings of a priest - lead him to believe that the child he took from that Italian hospital is evil incarnate.

KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE 1988​

When a small town is invaded by aliens from outer space who are capturing and killing the townspeople, no one takes them seriously. Why? The aliens all look like circus clowns, use weapons that look clown like, and all have painted on smiles. Only a few of the young people in the town realize the danger and of course no one believes them. Armed with an ice cream truck they try and rescue their friends.

This is a fun, but PG-13 film.

THE NIGHT FLIER 1997​

Two investigative reporters for a tabloid magazine track down the Night Flier. A serial killer who travels by private plane stalking victims in rural airports. One of the reporters, Richard Dees, begins to suspect that the Night Flier could perhaps be a vampire.

This is an R-rated unique vampire film with a gory ending. It's a good film, but earns its' rating. It's also a view inside tabloid journalism.

PLANET TERROR 2007​

Starring Josh Brolin, Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, and Jeff Fahey.

After an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, it's up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release.

This is an R-rated zombie-like movie with lots of gore. It's a good movie, but not for kids.

- Seven deadly sins. Seven ways to die.

This thriller portrays the exploits of a deranged serial killer. His twisted agenda involves choosing seven victims who represent egregious examples of transgressions of each of the Seven Deadly Sins. He then views himself as akin to the Sword of God, handing out horrific punishment to these sinners. Two cops, an experienced veteran of the streets (Morgan Freeman) who is about to retire and the ambitious young homicide detective (Brad Pitt) hired to replace him, team up to capture the perpetrator of these gruesome killings. Unfortunately, they too become ensnared in his diabolical plan....

This is an R-rated movie with lots of gore and savagery. It's also a very good movie.

You outdid yourself AGAIN! There are some excellent examples of horror/ Halloween movies on here. LOVE the fact you posted some family friendly ones on here. They look like fun!
And you posted the Omega Man, The Omen AND The Birds on one bill? Movie heaven, I tell you. And you posted one of my TOP 2 favorite movies EVER-Natural Born Killers. Folks, it's gory, but it is so unbelievably good. Watch it; it shows how the media glamorizes serial murderers, it shows attitudes of people towards others, it's just a favorite movie for what it offers the viewer. It's a must watch!

Thank you for these superb movies, minister of culture and enlightenment! I can't WAIT to see the Halloween offerings!
