It seems we have a new Sunspot today. Now they are claiming this little Sunspot is of the next solar cycle 25 with a reversed magnetic polarity from that of solar cycle 24 and this does not mean the low solar activity is done and over with as its expected to keep going like it has been for many years yet.
We are once again back to a blank Sun.
Its November 4, 2019 and we are 308 days into the year.
As of now we have had 229 days without Sunspots.
We've had to date only 79 days with Sunspots.
We are still at 74% of the year without Sunspots.
Note to all we have only 57 more days to the end of the year 2019.

Not sure how much worse it can get, We are just three days into a new stretch of Spotless Sun so it's now 231 Spotless days.
The other change is we have reached 75% of the year 2019 without Sunspots, yes thats 3/4 of the year with a blank Sun.

Wow....just wow. Kind of makes me want to catch blankets on sale and get in more firewood. Then, of course, there is the big concern about gardening (or lack thereof).

TxGal, I think you've just listed what the main concerns in life could very well be, going forward for a very long time.
No sunspots seems to be almost equivalent to no sun!

As of yesterday we have one new micro sized Sunspot and I did not post anything as I was waiting to them to give it a official number and as of now they have not done so, because it so small they have marked the spot where it is with a circle. So does it count as a Sunspot or not so I'm still waiting to see whats done here.

So is it officially a sunspot, even though it didn't last long? I heard somewhere that it might not have been a true sunspot because it didn't have the normal activity down under it's surface, but I never heard what was decided.

Would someone please be kind enough to help.....I keep checking in on the GSM thread, but don't see it listed. Thought this one might be replacing it, but it doesn't seem to be the same kind of discussions. Could someone let me know if this is renamed...what is also confusing is that these page numbers are so small, yet the GSM had way over 100...seems like it was around 150, last time I checked in. That was always interesting, with many podcasts.Thanks for any help. ( I did post a query, yesterday, but don't see any response, unless things are all together changed around!)

We are now at 257 spotless days for the year.
We've only had 81 days this year with Sunspots.
We are now at 76% of the year without Sunspots.

I think I heard recently that we are also close to even with the number of spotless days in 2018, Don't remember if we're a little more or a little less than last year.
2018 was 221 spotless days.
2017 was 104 spotless days.
2016 was 32 spotless days.

And I think I heard on a podcast recently that it's expected that 2020 will have even fewer spots than there's been this year.
This would feel like the beginning of a grand adventure, except that I'm already feeling cold nearly all the time. Probably because I'm old. I need 85 degrees all the time and that's sure not going to happen!
As it's been mentioned before, old age ain't for sissies. To put it another way, old age sucks. Being cold is the worst part and being cold during a Grand Solar Minimum is just poor planning on my part, isn't it? (:

We have gone another four week stretch of spotless blank Sun thats 28 days. It's December 11, 2019 and we are now 348 days into the year. We now have racked up a total of 265 spotless days. We only has up to now 81 days with Sunspots. The percentage of the year without Sunspot is now at 77%. We have only 20 more days to the end of the 2019. Right now if we go or rack up another three days without Sunspots we will have tied the year 2008 for 268 spotless days. Its not looking good we went into 2019 as a continuation of low sun activity and it looks like this will continue into the year 2020. People are placing their bets that 2020 many only have X-number of sunspots and some saying as little as 50 Sunspots for the whole year, we will have to see as no one really knows it could more it could less.

I really hope I can be around for the entire year of 2020, to see how so many things progress or turn out! Conditions might get pretty awful in some ways, but they will also be exciting.

Ok; its been three days from the last post #339 and we have racked up 268 spotless days and tied with the year 2008 for the number of spotless days. I recall we have gone a whole month running this year and for the second time we just went 31 days in a row with no Sunspots and still going.

Ok; we getting to the end of the year with only 8 days to go. We have racked up 277 blank spotless days. We are in a 40 day stretch of no Sunspots and it's the longest number of days without Sunspots yet on modern record. We have also reached 78% of the year without Sunspots.
Update; We have a second Sunspot that has showed up in the upper right hand part of the Sun at the 2 o'clock position and it should rotate out of view in a few days and the other one I posted about on Tuesday 24 of this month is still with us and will be for a good many days. Both of these Sunspots are of the new solar cycle 25. We only have 5 more days to the end of the year 2019.

I really thought it was possible we'd hit the end of the year without any more of them.
If our calendar was shifted to coincide with the Solstices, maybe I would have been correct.

Yesterdays posting of a second Sunspot, well it seems that sunspot has faded away, the other one is still there and is about half way around in rotation. Many may be confused with some talk of solar cycle 25 and saying solar maxim and at the same time talking about solar minima! The beginning of a new solar cycle is called solar maxim and has nothing to do with how strong the suns output is and this new solar cycle 25 for the next 11 years is expected to be weaker yet with even less Sunspots this coming year 2020.
We start the new year off with a new Sunspot forming and its on the lower left hand side around the eight o'clock position. We ended the year 2019 with 281 days out of 365 days with no Sunspots, and only 84 days with Sunspots thats 77% of the year with a blank Sun. No telling what this this year will be like we will just have to wait and see one day at a time.
Ok: I would have posted this earlier but I had a somewhat busy day running around all over the local area today. So today we were Spotless and first day of 2020 without a Sunspot and just checked a few minutes ago before posting this and they have reported a new Sunspot forming on the upper right quadrant and looks to be a really small one if it is still there tomorrow morning, this one will pass out of sight in two or three days if it does not fade away before then.

I think it was Diamond on the Oppenheimer Ranch Project site who posted that sunspot threw a good-sized CME before it went totally around the limb. He said something like it was big enough to be bad if it had been facing right at Earth.

Well we are back to blank Sun again and just have to sit and see how long it go's. So far we racked up one weeks worth of Sunspot and joined by another just as the first one faded away in mid rotation across the Sun. Volcanic activity from last year and the latest eruptions this year is not going to help matters none as it will have a cooling effect and cause a good deal of rain on some areas of the world.
Ok; Its now February 22 and I have been a little lax with the updates but we have just started a new year and only 53 days into the year 2020. So this is where we are at! We are in a current stretch of 20 days of spotless Sun and still going and we've had 36 Spotless days so far, We're at 68% of the year without Sunspots. We've had only a total of 17 days with Sunspots.
