CONTROVERSIAL American filmmaker Michael Moore urged Australians to vote out the Howard government at the forthcoming election for its role in the Iraq war.
Moore's anti-war documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, which premiered in Australia last week, criticises US President George W Bush over the September 11 terrorist attacks and the Iraq war.
He told Channel Nine's 60 Minutes the point of his film was to show people how Iraqi people were suffering as a result of the decision to go to war.
"Personally, though I have no say in any of this because I'm not an Australian, I hope the Australian people throw Mr Howard and his people out of office for participating in this," Moore said.
Moore repeated his bewilderment that Mr Howard, who he described as someone with half a brain, had chosen to back Mr Bush's war plan.
"What is John Howard doing in bed with an idiot?" he asked.
"What was he promised? He knew this wouldn't be popular with the Australian people."
Fahrenheit 9/11 has broken box office records in the US and Britain after receiving the top gong at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
