They are gorgeous little hawks. I rescued one from the roadside after a windstorm one summer. Way too young to fly, I fed it mice and baby English Sparrows, eventually moving to adult English Sparrows, turning them loose in his large cage so he learned to hunt.

He hung around the farm all summer after we released him.

Watch the look in its eyes at the end. Hummingbird trapped in our garage overnight, he got dehydrated and tired, fell to floor and collapsed. Fed him homemade nectar all day and released him when he was able to fly.
