TB Fanatic

In my area of California (Santa Clara County), the schools in my district have student gardens. Usually several 6'x12' planter boxes. Kids will have a big salad day eating what they've grown. Summertime parents sign up to look after the gardens and water those veggies still producing.

THIS is one of the few school programs I feel returns a ton of hands-on learning and I strongly support this program.

Long before color-sensitive films were invented, photographer Prokudin-Gorsky used to take 3 individual black-and-white photos, each with a filter (Red, Green, Blue) to create high-quality pictures in full color. This self portrait of him is 107 years old!

Hitachi Seaside Park is a spacious park in Ibaraki Prefecture featuring a variety of green spaces and seasonal flowers spread out across 350 hectares, as well as an amusement park and several cycling and walking trails.

The park's iconic flower is the blue nemophila, which covers Miharashi Hill in the spring and mimics the color of the sky. The flowers are usually at their peak from late April to mid May. Paths crisscross the hill providing views over the Pacific Ocean and the rest of the park. In fall, the hill is covered by green kokia bushes which slowly turn red as the weather turns cooler. These autumnal colors are usually best from early to mid October.
