ALERT RUSSIA INVADES UKRAINE - Consolidated Thread

There used to be an idea called spheres of influence. Stay out of our back yard and we stay out of yours. Good fences make good neighbors.

I'd imagine we would squeel if Russia tried to puppet Mexico were the tides reversed.

Nobody in DC would squeal, China is already doing it. Zimmerman Telegram 2.0, "Joe, take this flow..."

Oreally

Right from the start
Russia's fears are somewhat justified, actually. Think eastern Europe prior to June, 1941. The Germans invaded and didn't stop until they were 10 miles from the outskirts of Moscow. 20% of Russia's population either was killed or starved. That's why they make such a deal about the great patriotic war (as they call WW2). The concept of the Rodina isn't an intellectual construct-it's a red line that any nation stupid to cross it will be taken out swiftly and completely.

And the Russians have always wanted the Ukraine. It's their Kansas, it's their Nebraska. Russians put down the kulaks and starved a few million Ukranians in the Homolodor. They just don't want the Ukraine-they REALLY WANT the Ukraine. And God help whoever is foolish enough to get in their way.

my univ friend attends what is the Ukr 'Harvard' ( so the student body is the elite of Ukr) and is adamant that they can't 'take over' this place. says they don't have enough men to put down what would be a very thorny resistance everywhere. every little village. everywhere.

the hatred for the 'rus' is very strong.

they are all aware of the russian IRBMs with a ~600 mile range, and says all they can do is destroy stuff. infrastructure, comm links, etc. and they only have so many to do that with.

says that if they do, they will just 'build it back better'. lol.

and yeah, the land here is incredibly fertile. miles and miles of dark black earth. and with all russia above the 49 parallel and with the oncoming GSM, this is what is really going on here.

but again, the people here will fight like banshees to stop the Rus from ripping them off again.

Moscow to react if US imposes new sanctions against Russia over Ukraine — Lavrov
According to Sergey Lavrov, Western nations are imposing sanctions if something goes against their will, and not only against Russia

STOCKHOLM, December 2./TASS/. Moscow will certainly react if the US imposes ‘high-impact’ sanctions against Russia over Ukraine, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists on Thursday in comments on a statement from US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland about sanctions "the likes of which we have not used before."

"If new, ‘high impact’ as they said sanctions will follow, we will react, of course," the top diplomat said. "We have no choice but to react. How we react - well, we’ll see," he added.
"I don’t want to make guesses now what the West will resolve upon," he went on to say. "They are threatening with some financial sanctions, new sectoral reprisals. This is a dead-end road, and eventually it will backfire on the initiators of these illegitimate unilateral measures," he said.

In comments on Victoria Nuland’s words about the sanctions that have not been used before, he said "There is a first time for everything". "There were also sanctions like never before previously. Our Western colleagues simply have absolutely lost the culture of dialogue, diplomatic negotiations, arrival at a consensus, the ability to creatively look for a balance of interests," the top diplomat went on to say.

According to Lavrov, Western nations are imposing sanctions if something goes against their will, and not only against Russia. "We can see negotiations underway almost everywhere, if they involve the countries that don’t share the West’s approaches, sanctions are used as a threat, and then imposed if someone does not listen to somebody," Lavrov said.

I'm not sure why the ukies are failing to understand the ruskies goals here. The ukies make terrorist threats against the Russians and apparently think biden, NATO, EU and USA will cover their warmongering ass when china, russia and iran lit things up.

So, here is how I think Putin will do his thing.
1. Crimea
2. Invade the Ukraine from the east all the way to Kiev.
3. Invade and seize the coastline all the way to damn near romania. He will then stop, or possibly crush the baltics and secure Kannisberg? access.

And we won't do :poop: about it unless we want dc or guam nuked.
All this tough ukie posturing is based on NATO and biden guarantees.

What fools they are to believe biden after afghanistan.
Any attempt by ukraine, poland the baltics will be squashed like a bug.
Heroic Alamo style last stands will be massacres most likely.

Kremlin: Putin to seek guarantees over Ukraine from Biden
The Kremlin says President Vladimir Putin will seek binding guarantees precluding NATO’s expansion to Ukraine during a planned call with U.S. President Joe Biden

Ukraine foreign minister working to deter Russian aggression
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba hopes to dissuade a potential Russian invasion through the country's partnership with the United States.

MOSCOW -- The Kremlin said Friday that President Vladimir Putin will seek binding guarantees precluding NATO’s expansion to Ukraine during a planned call with U.S. President Joe Biden, while the Ukrainian defense minister warned that Russia could invade his country next month.

Tensions between Russia and the West have escalated in recent weeks, with Ukraine, the U.S. and other Western allies increasingly concerned that a Russian troop buildup near the Ukrainian border could signal Moscow's intention to invade.

The U.S. has threatened the Kremlin with the toughest sanctions yet if it launches an attack, while Russia has warned that any presence of NATO troops and weapons on Ukrainian soil would cross a “red line.”

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov told lawmakers Friday that the number of Russian troops near Ukraine and in Russian-annexed Crimea is estimated at 94,300, warning that a “large-scale escalation” is possible in January.

Amid the mounting tensions, Putin’s foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov told reporters Friday that arrangements have been made for a Putin-Biden call in the coming days, adding that the date will be announced after Moscow and Washington finalize details
.

On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met face-to-face with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Stockholm to demand that Russia pulls back troops from the border with Ukraine. Lavrov retorted that the West was “playing with fire” by denying Russia a say in any further NATO expansion into countries of the former Soviet Union.

Ukraine has pushed to join the alliance, which holds out the promise of membership but hasn’t set a a timeline.

Ushakov noted that during the call with Biden Putin will raise his demand for a document that would exclude any NATO moves further east. Russia wants a legally-binding agreement that would “exclude any further NATO’s expansion eastward and the deployment of weapons systems that would threaten us on the territories of neighboring countries, including Ukraine,” he said.

The Kremlin aide said that Russia long has pushed for such arrangements, emphasizing that they have become particularly acute amid the latest buildup of tension, adding that “it simply can’t continue like that.”

He charged that in the early 1990s the Soviet and Russian leadership received verbal assurances from Western leaders that NATO wouldn’t expand eastward, but the West reneged on those promises in the following years that saw former Soviet bloc countries and ex-Soviet republics join the alliance.

Russia and Ukraine have remained locked in a tense tug-of-war after Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula in 2014 and threw its weight behind a separatist insurgency in Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland, known as the Donbas. More than 14,000 people have died in the fighting.

Ukraine's defense minister warned Friday that an escalation “is a probable scenario, but not certain, and our task is to avert it.”

“Our intelligence service analyzes all scenarios, including the worst ones," Reznikov said. "The most probable time when (Russia) will be ready for the escalation is end of January.”

Konstantin Kosachev, a deputy speaker of the upper house of parliament, reaffirmed Moscow’s denial that it was pondering an attack.

“We don’t have any plans to attack Ukraine. We don’t have any heightened military activity near Ukraine’s borders. There is no preparation underway for an offensive,” Kosachev told Russia’s state TV channel Russia-24.

The Kremlin has voiced concern that Ukraine may use force to reclaim control of the rebel east. And adding to the tensions, the head of a Russian-backed, self-proclaimed separatist republic in eastern Ukraine said Thursday that he could turn to Moscow for military assistance if the region faced a Ukrainian attack.

Reznikov said Ukraine wouldn't do anything to provoke Russia but is prepared to respond in case of an attack. “Ukraine is most interested in political and diplomatic resolution,” the defense minister said.

:( Same old story. We grunts are all the same. I feel you brothers. I feel you.

From a Facebook page called "battles and beers". A former marine collects firsthand accounts of conflicts all over the world from those involved. He just published interviews from Russian and Ukrainian ground troops.

*No war*
“I don’t know why we are here. (Ukrainian border) We were moved here weeks ago and have just been sitting. The Ukrainian’s say we are going to war soon supposedly. I know several will read this. I don’t want to fight you. Several units here do want a fight, but most don’t.
Why should we fight and kill? What is the point? We shouldn’t not be fighting. The West fears us. I know this. But we are not conquerors anymore. Russian soldiers want peace, not war. NATO treats us like Soviets. We are Russians.
If this conflict happens, it was not our (the soldiers) choice for it to happen. Most of us here are good boys. We have families and would like to return home. God be with all of us.”

*To the Russian*
“We do not seek conflict either. Many months now we have lived in trenches in (redacted). In the rain, snow, sunshine and dark. This is our home. My family has lived and bled in this ground since the mongols. If necessary, my blood will wet it also. We are ready for you. Are you ready?
You know I want to go home? I miss my home and my family. You stay over there. We stay over here. We do not want you here. Go home and maybe we can be friends someday. We should only fight in the Olympics.
As well. Thank you for the drone. Ha ha.”

Russian fighter jets scrambled to escort two US reconnaissance planes over Black Sea
After the US spy plane moved away from Russia’s state border, "the Russian fighter safely returned to its home airfield"

MOSCOW, December 3. /TASS/. Russian Su-30SM and Su-27 fighter jets were scrambled to escort two US reconnaissance planes approaching the Russian border over the Black Sea, Russia’s National Defense Management Center reported on Friday.

According to the Center, Russian airspace control systems detected two aerial targets over the Black Sea approaching Russia’s state border on December 3.

"A Su-30 and a Su-27 fighter jets from the Southern Military District’s air defense quick reaction alert forces were scrambled to identify and intercept the targets. The crews of the Russian fighter jets identified them as an RC-135 and a CL-600 Artemis reconnaissance planes of the US Air Force, and escorted them over the Black Sea," the Center said.

After the US spy plane moved away from Russia’s state border, "the Russian fighter safely returned to its home airfield," it said.

"The Russian fighter’s flight proceeded in strict compliance with the international rules of using the airspace. No violations of the Russian state border were allowed," the National Defense Control Center said.

Shades of Hitler's VolksGrenidiers from 1945. And so the Massacre of the Ukrainians is taking form and shape. Exactly what do these Ukie territorials think they will do coming up against mechanized infantry with armor and close air support? Sheesh, the level of raving lunacy from the west about fighting Russia is clinical.

Russia is accused of "aggression" when they they forward deploy combat troops to THEIR OWN BORDER. Meanwhile, the ukies and the west murder ethnic Russians, deploy NATO troops DIRECTLY to Russia's border in the Ukraine, the Baltics and Poland, they also threaten to nuke Russian civilian nuclear power plants and RUSSIA IS THE BAD GUY HERE?
Putin is going to unleash a WORLD of HURT on biden et al. And here Putin is seeking a signed guarantee the US and NATO won't openly deploy AEGIS OFFENSIVE FIRST STRIKE WEAPONS and the western warmongers foam at the mouth seeking war with Russia.

If we make it to the end of this year, as in 3 weeks or so I will be amazed, although Putin has limited himself to the phone call time frame.

Doug, you were trained in the arts of warfare. If you were faced with a more numerically superior enemy, with better weapons, and with the possibilities of death or slavery, would you fight, and if you did, would you worry about being “fair,” or outside the bounds of “civilized thought?”

Didn’t think so. You’d be of the mind that if you couldn’t “win” by force of arms, you’d take the bastards with you.

In this case, Russia, under Mad Vlad, can only be the aggressor- the Bad Guy. That’s why the Ukrainians need to cinch-up their jockstraps, lock and load, and kill as many as are available…

If they are strengthening their supply lines and deploying medical units, sh!t's about to get real hot, real fast.

I feel sorry for those civilian Ukrainians who think they can defend their land/towns. I feel it will be an absolute annihilation. Russia will use air power and artillery to destroy the majority of resistance and then come in with heavy armor for the clean up.

The fighting will be over with before poopy pants even gets his morning warm milk and jello.

"as soon as early next year" -- probably disinfo. I'm guessing that it could well be sooner, but the Russians will probably hold off until the Putin/Biden discussion scheduled for around December 7. If that is unproductive, then my guess is that the move will happen with the next provocation by the Ukrainians.
