Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a press conference earlier today that he plans to lift the city’s curfew on Thursday.
Barring a bad night from tonight, the curfew will be lifted for the city of Los Angeles starting tomorrow, Garcetti said.
All ten million Los Angeles County residents have been under a curfew order for four consecutive nights.
The curfew tonight will begin at 9 p.m. local time -- under an hour away -- instead of 6 p.m., as had been the case for previous curfew orders.
The later curfew is a reflection of the peaceful protests, as well as good policing, Garcetti said.
The curfew tonight will be in place until 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Hey @Acosta!

Do you know who these guys are?

@realDonaldTrump pulled another fast one.

BOY DID HE EVER.
Trump pulled TWO fast ones.

Not even James Mattis could've worked this out.

The only reason this was done is that the 82nd Airborne was needed somewhere else.

With their bayonets.

NOBODY IN THE PRESS CAN IDENTIFY THESE MEN.
But I can.

1st Cavalry Division.

OUT OF FORT FRIGGING HOOD, TEXAS.
Trump done deployed them there military folks, but he did multiple distractions and set his multiple traps.

The press went, "Buh-buh?"

The protestors went, "Whatta we want? Cheesecake! When do we want it? Now!"
Mattis went, "The man's a Nazi! The rule of law is for Nazis!"

Obama went, "Why do flies keep landing on my mouth?"
George W. Bush went, "Can somebody change my diaper? And spank me?"
And Trump coldly surveyed the entire stinking pile of them.

Then he smiled to himself and made a few phone calls.

END
ADDENDUM:

People are asking why it's important that Texans showed up in DC.

Trump is demonstrating that he can send regular armed forces anywhere at any time without it leaking or anybody knowing it was going to happen.

Think about THAT.

Saks Fifth Avenue is wrapped in razor wire to prevent looting

By Lisa Fickenscher, Elizabeth Rosner, Larry Celona and Bruce Golding

Saks_barbed_wire-Saks Fifth Avenue is wrapped in razor wire to prevent looting

Saks Fifth Avenue surrounded its flagship Manhattan store with razor wire on Tuesday to keep thieves from smashing their way in and making off with troves of expensive merchandise, The Post has learned.

The luxury retailer has also hired private security guards with specially trained dogs to protect the premises in the wake of Monday night’s looting of Macy’s iconic Herald Square location.

At Saks, workers on Tuesday afternoon began attaching chain-link fencing to plywood that was previously installed to cover the luxury store’s famed display windows.

The second phase of the job saw workers further fortify the fencing with a coil of razor wire along the top edge.

At least seven German shepherds, Belgian Malinois and pit bull dogs were also on hand, along with guards who will use them to patrol outside the store in an attempt to deter looters amid the ongoing protests over the racially charged May 25 police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

“God willing, I hope they don’t show up and it goes smoothly,” one guard said.

The guard noted that the dogs “aren’t friendly.”

In addition to the fencing and the guards, Saks rented four massive floodlights — at a total cost of more than $16,000 — to illuminate the streets surrounding the store, sources said.

The NYPD has access to live video from rooftop surveillance cameras on Saks and other nearby luxury retailers, and planned to monitor the feeds as the night progressed, police sources said.

Extra cops were also deployed to the area in the wake of increased violence and looting during the protests that began in the city on Thursday, the sources said.

Several hundred protesters who were marching along Fifth Avenue passed by Saks shortly after 7 p.m., chanting slogans that included “George Floyd,” “Black lives matter” and “I can’t breathe.”

The latter slogan echoed the pleas of Floyd, who was black, as white cop Derek Chavin — since charged with third-degree murder — was recorded kneeling on his neck.

The commotion caused by the protesters sparked a loud round of barking from the dogs and many people in the crowd paused to snap photos of the excited canines.

A contingent of about 30 NYPD cops in riot gear followed the activists as they continued marching north.

At Macy’s, scores of crooks were recorded swarming an entrance to the self-proclaimed “world’s largest store” shortly before a citywide curfew went into effect at 11 p.m. Monday.

The brazen lawlessness there and elsewhere in the city led Gov. Andrew Cuomo to declare that Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD “did not do their job” and President Trump to tweet, “Bring in National Guard!”

Tuesday’s curfew was pushed up to 8 p.m., with non-essential traffic barred in Manhattan south of 96th Street.

WHAT HAPPENED TO COVID-19?! Democrat Lockdowns Destroyed Small Business...but Looting is Excused?
•Jun 3, 2020

Glenn Beck

Apparently COVID-19 has disappeared from the bluest states that enforced the strictest lockdowns when the pandemic first began. Politicians in states like New York and Michigan mandated the arrest of small business owners for re-opening, citizens for visiting parks, and protesters taking their frustration to the streets. The pandemic isn't over, so then, why the double standard? Because looting and rioting continues, but the arrests of those responsible seem to be few and far between...

It's nighttime in the US and curfews are in place. Here are the biggest developments today

Nine days after the death of George Floyd, protesters are still out on the streets of major cities across America, even as curfews begin kicking in for the night.
Here are some of the latest developments today:
  • Calmer protests: Demonstrations today have stayed largely calm, with fewer arrests and violent confrontations than the previous week. Peaceful protesters are still out in cities like Atlanta, Washington, DC, and Seattle. There were clashes in New York between protesters and police, but authorities say the city was still quieter than before, with no reported instances of looting.
  • Minneapolis officers charged: All four former Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd's killing have been charged. The officer who pressed his knee into Floyd's neck was charged with a more serious count of second-degree murder, and the three other officers on scene during his killing were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
  • Atlanta officers charged: Six Atlanta police officers are being charged with using excessive force during an arrest of two college students at a protest on Saturday night. The officers were filmed breaking windows of a vehicle, yanking a woman out of the car and tasing a man. The two were later identified as college students.
  • Obama speaks out: Former President Barack Obama held a livestream event today, in which he urged young people to "stay hopeful" and take action. “Just remember, this country was founded on protest," he said.
  • Defense Secretary on deploying troops: Secretary of Defense Mark Esper called the killing of George Floyd a “horrible crime” and said the officers involved should be "held accountable for his murder." He also said he didn't support using active troops to quell protests, in direct contradiction to President Trump's message earlier this week.
  • Mattis tears into Trump: Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis slammed Trump as "the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people," in a forceful rebuke of his former boss. "We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership," he said.

I think we are underestimating the damage all of this is doing to personal relationships between people. I’ve had a few things happen the past few days I was keeping to myself, but I think I’ll share them because why not. The other day I saw real tension between my teenage kids..

My son was grilling my daughter about some things she was posting up he said was not true. Racial this, Trump that, etc...She finally showed him where she got her info. From a “ACAB” type account. He was furious, as we have several cops in our extended family...

She was nearly in tears, saying she doesn’t feel that way, but clearly she’s being influenced by the online mob out there. It was hard to watch. I intervened a bit, but got them to work it out and they did. I hate knowing the lies they’re exposed to!...

Tonight, my son tells me something that just happened to him and a few friends from HS. Three of them are all going to the same college this fall. One of his friends asked another why he hadn’t posted anything up supporting BLM...

He said because I don’t want to get into all that on my page. “Well, your silence is being complicit with white supremacy.” (The one kid is from Ethiopia). He then unfollowed him and all other white friends, including my son...

I hear them in there talking as they play Fortnight, saying “I can’t believe he did that to us?! I thought we were cool.” I’ve seen it before, but this is his first look at it. The mob is like a tsunami now, and they don’t care who drowns in it

If people were severely depressed before, they will be now. We’ve been told to lock ourselves in our homes for months. People have been out of work, the economy decimated. Now, the same people that shamed us for wanting to go back to work love mobs in the street.

So many downtown businesses that were hoping for just partial openings are now not only shut down again, but having their places looted and burned down. And the adults in the room are not only telling them it’s ok, they’re shaming you for being mad about it.

And then in the fall, they’ll gleefully say “How do you like Trump’s economy now?!” You don’t want Trump in again, fine, but you’re getting a dry run on what Democrats support right now. I’ll pass on that shit.

New Orleans police fire tear gas to disperse protesters

Police in New Orleans fired tear gas Wednesday night to disperse protesters who police say refused to comply with orders to not walk across the Crescent City Connection, a bridge that stretches across the Mississippi River.

Three men who allegedly sought to exploit protests and incite violence in Las Vegas have been charged, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
In a federal complaint filed on Tuesday, each man was charged with one count of conspiracy to damage and destroy by fire and explosive, and one count of possession of unregistered firearms. They are currently in state custody.
All three were Las Vegas residents and alleged members of the “Boogaloo” movement, “a term used by extremists to signify a coming civil war and/or collapse of society,” according to a press release by the Attorney's Office today.
According to the complaint, authorities seized numerous accelerants, including gasoline, fuel injector cleaner, hair spray, strips of clothes, and four glass jars filled with a liquid that tested positive as gasoline, from one of the men's vehicles.
They also found multiple rags, cans of hairspray, a plastic bag full of fireworks, a 12-gauge shotgun with numerous shotgun shells and a 45 ACP pistol in his vehicle.
“Violent instigators have hijacked peaceful protests and demonstrations across the country, including Nevada, exploiting the real and legitimate outrage over Mr. Floyd’s death for their own radical agendas,” said US Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich in the press release.
Ongoing investigations nationwide: Federal law enforcement officials have told CNN that investigators believe extremists from both left and right have been involved. Investigations are still ongoing and prosecutors often add information to the charging documents.
So far federal prosecutors have charged at least a dozen people with crimes related to the disturbances in the cities of Nashville, Chicago, Newark, Dallas, Minneapolis, Buffalo, and Brooklyn.

The patch worn on the right shoulder is the one signifying combat service, and is worn even after you PCS. It's the patch on the LEFT shoulder that indicates what unit you're currently assigned to.

ETA: Given that several of them are carrying rucks that still have the old ACU pattern, I'm going to guess they're some NatGuard unit. Plenty of guys I knew in the Gulf War went into the Guard after their tour rather than stay Active.
