Since obama started his campaign to become President of these united States, have our race relations improved or worsened?

I don't see any difference overall. I do think there will be an "entitlement" mentality in the future as BO addresses more sensitive subjects like, reparation, more bigger better welfare, etc.

Nothing changed except for a few handfuls of people that live in racial tense areas to start with.

I voted other:

Since Curious Obama took office, the attitudes of the professional black hacktivists like Deval Patrick, Jesse Jackass, Al notsoSharpton, Eric coatHolder, et. al., has been more of the same: White America, you owe US!
No concession that the civil rights battle has essentially been won, with one of their kind now occupying the highest office in the land. They're still not satisfied and seek ever more gimmees for their shiftless and useless supporters.

I see no change in race relations, except maybe the negroes are more emboldened than ever to get in your face and demand what they THINK they have a right to, and deserve in their minds.

On this site they appear to have worsened considerably. Maybe it's just the vocal name callers?

In the rest of the world, improved a little.

No change. Why would their be? The Obama people think of him as a rock star, nothing more because they do not have the knowledge or desire to do so. Still the same.

Right minded people must still put up with them. No change.

I voted worsened. I think that it isn't just this site that has worsened, but the internet world, where people hide behind computer screens. I think that it's important as an overall gauge of the mentality of the nation.

Where I live, everything's fine, no problem.

They've gotten much worse around here. Blacks & whites don't talk to each other at all.

I haven't noticed any difference. Granted I don't live or work in a 'diverse' area. I do expect things on this front (and others) as the economy worsens.

I believe they have worsened considerably, and not just between black and white, although that has taken a nosedive too.

It's not just here in the US either. More and more, groups are using the race card to further agendas of their own.

Illegal immigrants use race to deflect attention away from the fact that they are...illegal, and destroying the fabric and wealth of America.

Groups like CAIR and ISNA here in the US, and others associated with the Muslim Brotherhood worldwide are using race in the guise of "Islamaphobia" to push their agenda and insinuate Sharia into all facets of life, like the workplace, politics and educational institutions.

Anti Israel rhetoric is at an all time high worldwide, including violent protests in the guise of "solidarity" with an artificial construct called "Palestine".

And of course the present administration and all it's useful tools, including the MSM. They use race constantly to stifle criticism and to foster guilt aimed at whites exclusively. The country is so constrained by political correctness that even when legislation banning whites from construction work and other jobs in the so-called "stimulus" bill, barely a whimper is heard...

We haven't improved, we've gone back decades.

Worsened due to 0bama and others of his ilk playing the race card. He attended Jeremiah Wright's "church" of black hatred towards whitey for almost 20 years. That says it all.

And conservatives are too caponed and fearful to say the truth; and liberals cash in on the racism.

The whole thing is ruined now. I used to hang out with black people when I was a teenager and the racism was nowhere near as bad as it is now.

0bama is an abomination and will be the ruination of our country if he is not removed.

Yup, that Marxist Malcolm X junior has set back race relations decades.

I voted no difference. But I don't get out much, and you certainly can't believe anything the media says. I would guess though, that it will eventually get much worse.

I say they've worsened...

...since Obama took office. We've seen a strengthening (in the school where I teach) of black vs. brown behavior--from name-calling and arguments among the 2nd graders to fights (involving blood and nurse visits) among the 6th graders to home-made shivs and threats among the 9th graders. Black vs. Brown gang-related activity also seems to be heating up.

In my little section of the world (a city of about 5 million people), there appears to be a "MY" president mentality that fuels the courage of some--enough so that they feel comfortable in trying to intimidate others. Between the black vs. brown conflict, the black vs. white conflict, and the white vs. brown conflict, the PTB have successfully kept the nation focused on social turmoil within the nation and ignorant of the treason of our elected officials in the political arena. The PTB have further weakened each group by fostering the following conflicts:
  • men vs. women
  • single vs. married
  • gays vs. straights
  • Christians vs. anyone
  • citizens vs. illegals
  • independents vs. sycophants
  • producers vs. users
I could go on and on, but that's enough to make my point.

it depends...

The election of a person of color shows that Americans aren't a racist and overall I think that has been a proof that has had a positive impact to our society that we could let that fear go and move on. However, that doesn't mean that people aren't still out there trying to fuel their personal agendas by using race as a reason or an excuse.

As far as the present political environment, I see a big time promotion of class and race warfare, even religious warfare in the policies that are being promoted and in the rhetoric they use to promote it. In that respect, whatever gains our society just made that we aren't racist, is in danger of being lost and taking steps backwards.

I voted other.

I think what we are seeing is just the natural progression of 40 years of empowerment and wealth transfer to minorities at the expense of the majority.

In the early years this occurred in small enough increments that it really had no significant effect on the majority so things remained fairly the same. As the minority share of power and redistributed wealth has grown it is now having a significant impact on the majority.

The political correctness regime currently in place to ensure wealth and power transfers to minorities continues does not allow the majority to speak out against it.

It is obvious that the Obama administration intends to accelerate these transfers and the frustrations are beginning to show along racial lines as would be expected.

How you voted?

I think it depends on what area of the country you are living in, and who you voted for.

I don't agree that recognizing the turmoil we see is based on how we voted. I know many people (black, white, and brown) who voted for Obama, and they are actually the ones commenting on the exacerbation of conflict between the races in our community. In fact, if those of us who did not vote for Obama had been the ones who 'noticed' the racial conflict in our community, we would have been accused of being racist. As it happened, those who voted for Obama brought it to the attention of those who did not vote for Obama...we didn't have to say a word.

There has been more of a militiant air. My husband was in a place of business and a black lady told him that 'they are in charge now and it's his turn to sit in the back of the bus!' That hasn't happened in this world in so long........hatred is handed down. What a shame, too.

That about sums up my feelings. Wait til summer and tensions boil over in the inner cities.

I chose 'worsened', BUT 'race relations' haven't really changed in my neck of the woods, as far as I can tell. The reason I chose 'worsened' is because the class envy has stepped up dramatically. I haven't necessarily noticed it here where I live, but nationwide it seems to be getting worse everyday.

So 'no' to 'race relations' but 'YES' to class envy.

It appears to me that race relations have had the balance of perceived power shifted considerably in the last year. It is now politically correct to overtly and with venom play the race card in arenas such as the internet, graffitti, editorials and music. Being able to vent one's frustration over the status quo and the hope for change is a catalyst for vocalization of one's views. When the debate rages on, on what exactly is an offensive racist statement all to often reverse racism is either ignored or denied. And racism with in a group is often a dirty secret in which no one wants to admit. My grandmother was overtly racist against her own family members who were by her definition "lazy so and so's who did not know how to do a honest days work and expected big daddy government to feed and house them". If we asked her about it, she'd say "being a minority is not reason enough to fail in life". She'd also say, "Listen up and learn to read and speak English. You will fail in life if you expect all of the country to speak and write in our home language. Don't be a fool. Be an American.". Pretty gutsy for an old lady living in the ghetto and trying to get her children and grandchildren out of an environment of poverty and tragedy.

I'm not a huge fan of Spike Lee, but I love the movie "Do the Right Thing".
Just wondering how many of ya'll have seen it? I've thought for years that it should be required viewing. Flame away.

Yeah, it should be required viewing as a warning against communism and mob rule.

Mob rule for sure. I just felt like the movie portrayed racism for what it really is, it has nothing to do with color, and that the way to heal it is to find commonalities instead of differences. That goes for EVERYONE.

race

have not seen or heard anything particular in my area. By what i am reading in the papers, blogs and on the teevee the powers that be want a race war.

I am afraid the white class will be awakened from it's P.C thinking and all hell will break loose with all sides black ,white, immigrant etc hurting each other.

I think they want us to kill each other while they all hide and then wait to help us at the very end when there aren't too many of us left to control.

Got a little extra tinfoil on tonite

Why in the world would anyone want to watch a movie made by a dirty liberal race baiter?
