CHAT Question for all - are you addicted to this place?

I wouldn't say addicted, but some would.

I'm kind of ADHD, so I like the frequent distraction of current news. Anytime I pick-up my iPad to scan the news, I always stop by TB2K, which I treat as a "news feed", via the "New posts" link in the upper left corner.

I also like the posts, since the comments here are more collaborative and respectful than the "comments section" on most sites. Probably more respectful here, since it seems like there are a lot of ol' timers here, who actually have some face-face communications skills (pre-smartphone), where disrespectful comments would either end-up in a fight, or end the conversation.

this place is like my virtual comfy chair on the internet, with my slippers n sweatpants and my favorite people.

if news breaks, within 15 minutes someone has a thread, then another has a police scanner link, a youtube livestream embedded and a few more with cogent analysis to get your newshound on. beats anything mainstream media does.

plus the real time drinking games during debates, state of the unions and other live events is always a hoot

and who doesnt't love Friday night music and danceparty thread?

Ah, you don't have any friends either.

No worries, dear one. We know our own! :hugs:

Ok. I have to confess. I come here everyday... but the past few weeks, the board has been up all day, every day, except when I sleep. Talked to my son the other day. Told him to come on over awhile ago when things in the news were getting so bad. He told me this place is like a drug. He's become addicted.

Let's do a poll! Who would like Ragnarok to be a mod? Would Dennis promote him to mod if the majority voted in favor of it AND each "Yes" vote donated $20 to the site? ;)

I literally spend hours per day checking the site. With the way things are, anything could happen. And this site is hands down the best site for current event info I've ever seen. Dennis is performing an indispensible service to his countrymen by keeping it up. God bless Dennis!

On TB every waking moment
My computer is a replacement, sort of, for all the libraries where I have ever worked. My last one was around 150,000 volumes, the library at JFK was around 60,000. As a reference librarian most of my workday was spent helping people answer questions.

I'm just doing pretty much what I have done for about 30 years, except now I do it here :D. And this place has been my virtual home since before Y2K.

Call it whatever you want ...

Between this and stocks I don’t have a life. If I wake up at midnight, I check TB and check stocks.

I most certainly am.

And I'm proud of that fact too.......

I have never met any of you but yall are my family. And I care about each and every one of yall.

When a member passes....or a member has a critical issue in their life my heart breaks a little bit for them.

Prayers are offered daily for many here......for jobs and opportunities.....for health and healing......for reconciliation and well being. For God's Will.

The information and news, rumor and FOAF info, the research and dedication to truth....nowhere else on the net comes even close.

Yes I'm addicted and proud of it too....

Has No Life - Lives on TB
Every morning with coffee before work. Need to make sure I know what is “really” happening. Don’t trust the fake news for squat ... other than a weather report.

Every evening after dinner. If things are slow I search around. This is my main place for true news and opinions. Plus everyone is a hoot to be with. Friends I don’t know.

Hi, my name is Papacub, I refuse to say if I am addicted to TB2k, I'm only here for the breaking news..........every morning...........noon..........and evening!

LOL. Hmm. Define addicted ; )

I can, and have, left it, but only for a few weeks...then I was like all sad puppy dog eyed and "hey! I wanna come home"Screenshot_2020-11-18 Alvin Lee - The Bluest Blues (HD720p) - YouTube.png

I can say I never post while in the shower, or while driving....
I may sleep post or read from time to time though, and have rescheduled BD weekends away to coincide with breaking news cycles... :: shrug :: :D

I'm a info addict for sure, and I handle concern by gathering knowledge and information, so---- if something's happening odds are good I'm on the interwebz trying to find out what it is.

I really feel this place provides my widest, and bestest, perimeter security... If I slept, I would do so more soundly knowing there were thousands of eyes and ears all around me holding down the forte.

Have I said thank you lately? Y'all Rock. Thank You!!:applaud::applaud::applaud::applaud::applaud::applaud::applaud:

There's a reason that we're a daily brief in the intel world.

This is about the best source there is outside of the alphabet internals.

Addicted? Course not. I can stop any time I want to. Maybe. Of course, I have been stopping by to take a look each day lately...maybe I need that 12 step program too?

This has always been my source for information, its like a war room and all this data comes in and y'all not only share info we discuss it, analyze it, discard the junk. Its good stuff... If i didn't have to work I'd be here even more often than I am.
What I find funny is the people that aren't this close to news will share stuff with me days or weeks later... And I'm always shocked like "you didnt know? That happened awhile ago" gotta love MSM...

On a more serious note, I’m a news junkie first, last and most of all. Secondarily, you are all family to me. So I satisfy my news needs and I get to “talk” to everyone. And no matter what time of the day or night, something is happening here. Further, I’ve never seen a question go unanswered, often within 10 minutes.

I check in here for my *main* daily news because if anything big is popping off, it will be talked about here.

As someone who has been involved with the development of many websites, the key factor is always traffic. Repeat traffic is key. This comes by way of what we call "stickiness" (probably an old school term now as I been doing this for 2 decades).

This forum has that perfect stickiness chemistry.

Dennis, you do a great job here.

Yes! Did not have internet for a day and a half. Turned Roaming on my phone just so I could see threads on here and have some sense of what was happening.

How many here are ADDICTED to this forum? With all that is going on now, I am finding myself checking the board at least a dozen times each day.

Neither healthy or normal, if you ask me...

Time for a break.
I used to only check it in the late afternoon and late at nite, but since i got my new cell phone i check here numerous times a day and mostly cuz i'm bored and lonely and don't know what else to do so i sit and read and keep my mind occupied.

Yup and it isn't healthy. One thing that has helped is I no longer check it when I I am in bed. I leave the computer downstairs and read a book for a bit. Helps me fall asleep better.
I have bad insomnia. I listen to the radio while in bed - coast to coast - and read the net here too until i get sleepy. I used to read a book , but feeling depressed i can't concentrate on a book. I got a good Mafia book and i really like Crime books true stories, especially by Ann Rule, but i just can't concentrate anymore due to too many worries. Not even concerned about the virus, just personal stuff. TB2 keeps my mind busy.
