Glued and watching this time around. This is real, it is happening; best to get every scrap of info you can. There have been any number of false starts over the years; this time, sadly is REAL. I'm still working, distancing from people and washing hands enough to rub skin off them-but nothing else. We're stocked and ready when the quarantine hits.

Has anyone noticed that every day now is more surreal than the last? Feel like I'm working in an alternate universe.

We're actually somewhere between 'watchful and ready' and 'glued to the screen'. Went out today to pick creamer and mayo at the local grocery store. Apparently some dikhead on the TV made a statement if people in suburbia couldn't find what they needed at their local stores they should hit the rural area stores....and of course a bunch of freaking flatlander bozo's did just that. So now our local grocery store is thoroughly picked over. This is seriously pissing off the locals here in our mountain community. There's talk of shutting down the mountain to outsiders that don't actually live up here. All the ski slopes and attractions up here are closed so there's really no reason for outsiders to be raping our stores.

Looks to be 75.5% of the responses are to the extreme end of the spectrum.
Surprising.

Not sure how that is surprising, hardrock.

Things are rapidly changing, we don't know what is going to change tomorrow, next week, or next month.

In 6 months, will we have the same money system?

Can the economy ever recover from this?

Will giving $1000 - 2000 a month to the people, be effective?

Will the grocery stores really have been restocked?

Can we actually flatten the curve?

Will herd immunity really happen?

Vaccine 12 - 18 months?

Can I expect to be hit by robbers or home invaders? If so, when might that start?

Just a few forward looking thoughts.

75.5% seems low from here in the cheap seats. I am convinced the masses and even many on this great forum, do NOT understand how horrible this little virus actually is. This is day 5 of self isolation for us.

Glued to the screen, but not freaked out, 4 sons and daughters are reasonably ready also. Thank God they all have good heads on their shoulders. We are both in the caution age group with some minor issues. In for good now.

While not freaked, I did check glued for the first time ever. While a long-time prepper - over 60 but fit and healthy - I just wish I could be near my sons. They're preppers too but one is trying to move from CO to another state, and the other is all the way down in Florida, is 'immuno-compromised' ...and his wife is a physician seeing patients daily. That's where the stress hits the heart.

I'm back down from "glued" now that it's happening. There are 4 of us here now; too many "6 degrees of separation" reports of people testing positive; and most of us are staying busy. It is spring, after all - when activity ramps up again around here.

But I AM carefully watching the US monetary situation & pondering all these shutdowns in business - and the long term impacts of that.

I understand the reasoning behind it - the decision in some cities to not enforce the law is very troubling. Congressional hijinks & "politics as usual" are pissing me off - so I'm ignoring most of that. For now.

I am trying real hard to not be freaked. Glued to the screen, yes. Not sleeping, yes. The youngest and I haven't left the house all week which is strange for us. He's usually got this or that to go to every single day. I am going to make a run to wally world and the grocery store today for a few things. I've been binge watching netflix and quilting to keep calm. The adult kids that still live here are still working, dh is working. So if they get it I will get it. Spending a lot of time talking to God about this.

Like AlfaMan, glued to the screen, expecting the worst, but not freaked out. I have to leave to pick up my daughter from Slippery Rock Univ. The plan is to leave tomorrow AM, but if Governor Hogan says he is shutting down the state as I expect him to we will be piling in the Van today and driving up there, grabbing her and her stuff and getting back ASAP.

After we are home, the drawbridge goes up.

I've seen the full range of emotions from irresponsible denial of the situation, to full on, literally shaking, panic attacks in individuals within my range of influence. Especially for those leaning towards the panic end of the spectrum, I can only say "let the fear guide you, not control you". The same thing I try to instill in new cancer parents we meet after our own ordeal with my son. My other main advice is from a blue fish. "Just keep swimming".

After 25 hours, the poll stands at 2.78. That is the highest I have recorded while doing this poll. However, the trend for this poll has always been high after the 24 hour point, and then dropping as the poll nears its end at the three day point.

We shall see if this poll follows that trend.

Wish there was a choice that was more like "totally prepared, monitoring the situation, waiting for the worst, calm, isolated."
YES!! This!!! I voted "a bit concerned" - because it's here - the thing we've all been prepping for. And, because of the people here at TB2K, I'm sitting in my house, on a foggy spring morning, totally calm. I'm ready - well, as ready as I can be, so I'm calm. I'm a bit concerned because I have family all over the US - and I can't control what's going to happen to them. But I've put my worries at the feet of my Lord, I've warned all who would listen, I've done all I can do - and now, I'm just riding it out.

I was just telling someone this morning how quickly it has become almost "normal" that there is hardly anything in the grocery stores.

Yes. The thing I can't stop thinking about is the possibility that things will never be "normal" again in our lifetimes. Between the possibility of several waves of the virus, to the economic collapse, to food shortages (both packaged and farm food), I can't help but wonder if we'll be talking about the "old times" with reverence and nostalgia, like folklore that will be handed down to the youngins.

Our grandparents, etc. got through the Great Depression and Dust Bowl with resiliency, resourcefulness, and an understanding of how to make meager ends meet. Those are attributes that have mostly gone extinct in this country. I cannot even imagine what our world will look like if this continues on for any length of time.

I meant my family is isolating. That was very bad verbiage, sorry to alarm you!
I put freaked. My doomer Irish self is just waiting for the end. DH is pissed at me because I told him I was going to release our beloved cats so they won't be trapped inside when it comes for us.
Seriously? I agree life will never go back to normal. It is getting terrifyingly real with those new numbers I saw a minute ago. How can we possibly escape this fate?

I certainly think the economic impact of all this will be the SHTF event we all have been preparing for.

Glued to the screen. Sitting home alone bored and concerned. Wondering how long this is gonna last. I think that we are gonna be in lockdown soon and i worry about that. Van fixed. Get it next wk when i have more money. Can't go out visiting people so i figure can take the dogs for a ride around the block or two. They love going out. Well, i can still go to a drive thro to get a bite to eat. I get them each a burger too. Then read a book and take a nap in the van.

Glued to the screen - prepped pretty well - being careful and following recommended guidelines. I'm not freaked, but not sleeping the best, and I barely have patience with certain attitudes. (edited to add, "friend" on FB, a Trump-hating liberal, said the problem with society right now is the hoarders! I knew she would be one of the first to come knocking on doors of those who prepared to demand preps for her and her son. It's all I can do to put up with some of these people - I need to start unfriending them! Most of these contacts are part of a dog-loving, rescue group, but many are unbearably liberal and IGNORANT and make me feel like I'm a ticking... timebomb, about to tell them what I really think!)

First time I ever voted glued, however, really not, too much to do, but glued at least 2-3 hrs a day when I can. Prepped, knowing it is all in God’s hands now. Not worried. He’s got us this far, and never left us by the side of the road yet.

Watchful and ready...been preparing for many years, and are as ready for this as we can be. It's the panicky folks that are our biggest concern...scared folks do stupid things....

Just be careful, especially if any of them know where you live or work. Almost invariably, such people are vindictive, self-hating freaks who will lash out at anyone who dares to upset their apple cart.

I am in my bunker, and also glued to the screen... I caught a cold back on march 10th (after visiting dr on Saturday, March 7th) so I’m coughing like a seal as I always do at the end of these things. I got inhalers and codeine cough syrup for that and i topped off back in January when news of this flu first surfaced). I’ve been off work since mid-december due to various medical problems and resulting work stress and anxiety. Glad I got all the anxiety meds on board and settled in before this hit!!
I honestly feel like the deep state and maybe George Soros are somewhere laughing maniacally...

First time in 16 years on TB I voted totally freaked and in my bunker. I'm not totally freaked, I'd say I'm freaked but not totally, more upset as to the situation in general - but I am locked down at home for now, which is my 'bunker' as I am bugging in, and haven't left in 2 days and don't plan on leaving. I couldn't vote expecting the worst any day now because the worst is already here so I guess freaked and in my bunker it is!

Watchful +. Things will get worse; then better faster than expected. God is schooling the nations--long overdue. But Providence has long loved America; gave us our first indispensable/reluctant genius/hero in George Washington; and now has raised up an egotistical, adulterer who was the unreasonably best hope to save our Republic--despite all that Hell and its minions throw at him. I trust Trump

After 48 hours, the poll stands at 2.76. One day left to vote and to let folks know why you voted as you did.

This too shall pass.
I suppose it’s too late to change my vote, but, having finished our errands in town, we are now in the bunker. Will stay here either until this burns out, or we have no choice but to go out. Praying daughter doesn’t need any trips to the ER (the urologist told me to take her in to be catheterized again if she goes more than about six hours without peeing during the day).

After 60 hours, the poll stands at 2.76. I am giving serious consideration to shortening the poll to two days. It seems that after two days, I have to go to page three to find the thread to update it almost every poll. Any thoughts?

12 more hours to vote or comment, folks.
