For the ex-military reading this thread, if you were a trigger puller in the Army, Marines, or Navy/Air Force special ops, there isn't much if anything there that you don't already know. I'm still glad the author wrote the book as it will help others get started understanding.

If someone is interested in a more in-depth view in civilian language, there was a book published years ago, Citizen Soldier, by Robert Bradley. It might be of interest as well.

Thanks!

Regarding the section in the Book "Prairie Fire" which was blacked out: do you have a reading list which would fill in the spot the author was unable to?

I think it was about tactics in Phase I. Look up the book he referenced by Rex Applegate. I believe that is why he referenced it.

If you (or anyone) have read the Concrete Jungle, Prairie Fire, or the two volume set on Civil Defense Manual I & II by Lawson, how would you compare them to Citizen Soldier?

THis book reads like you are sitting down drinking beers and asking advice from a SF guy. It is a quick read, easy read and doesnt bog down with the details. Fantastic overview and solid basics. He also points to where you can learn more. There is nothing new or unique in what he says and it all has been said elsewhere but this is a great start. It is going to be my loaner to friends that are looking for more info without get buried by the gear lists, detailed tactics and which camo pattern is the best.

Comparing the two, Prairie Fire versus Citizen Soldier, it is like the next step. Prairie Fire was the convincing and outlining general ideas. Citizen Soldier takes the next step, showing people without military experience, how to do things Prairie Fire indicated they need to do. It was also written by a Green Beret.

Here's the table of contents, its a quick read and a good overview. For $5.99 on Kindle, a bargain. Great link as always Doz!
