You can’t be as ignorant as that statement makes you sound.

I'm not sure why that statement makes me sound ignorant. The government's duty is to uphold the rule of law within the constraints of the Constitution.

Liberty is more important than safety, and especially when the government is attempting to make the decision for us we know we are on the precipice of tyranny.

The government’s duty is also to PROTECT AND DEFEND THE UNITES STATES AGAINST ENEMIES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.

When the US is invaded by the ChiComs, I doubt I’ll see you on the front lines. But you talk a great game.

There is a huge difference. TikTok is not a main trunk line. You are suggesting that if the Russkies tapped my personal phone, it would be a threat to national security. False.

Normalcy bias is not a threat that the government is charged with addressing.

Enjoy your walk further down the slippery slope of government overreach, nanny statism, and hegelian dialectics.
Sigh....

... you must tend to the anal side to draw such a narrow position of my algology. A "trunk line" is a combination of many different lines (of communications), so to be perfectly correct for your benefit, Tic Toc is one of many lines (of communications) carried on the Internet (trunk line).

I have no clue about you or your circle of contacts in your electronic communications, but if you were a person of interest than yes indeed the ruskie's would have been interested in your phone conversations.

Ever worked in a Big Data analysis project? I have at a University where they used information from several social media sites and twitter and could draw up a very nice picture of users, their relationships with others and through analysis discovered some very interesting information.... and they had limited access. If they could have tied in their financial transactions from Amazon and credit cards, they would have been able to produce just about everything about an individual. Once done, they can slice and dice it to fit what ever grouping they need.

I have been on the internet since before Mosaic and the opening of the WWW, and am a very strong proponent of limited government and personal freedoms. The REASON I support the force sale of Tic Toc is because it is OWNED by a foreign power that is an enemy of everything this country was meant to be. I think the internet itself has been consolidated into to few trunks, ISPs and has already become much less free than just a few years ago.

I am also a strong believer in free enterprise, but that doesn't mean that when specific use cases are monopolies (like Facebook, Google, and several others) using their control of the service to silence freedom of speech, that I wouldn't back the power of the government to be used in the public's behalf to break them up. Same goes with only 6 major entities owning 85-95% of all media (TV, Radio, Print, Magazines).

Sorry, but if I was made king there wouldn't be a single critical material, service or product to this country that wouldn't be made in the USA. The Chinese and all other communist countries would be considered enemies at all times and my first focus would be on becoming free from the need to purchase a dam thing from them.

Good thing the Founders did not give us a king.

Great news, there is much that he should do to protect the U.S. from the inside and the outside. Think about it.

Now I see. You’re the kind of man who’d be happy as the United States were destroyed or invaded, as long as not one jot or tittle of the Constitution was ignored.

Got it.

The destruction of the United States has nothing to do with Chinese malware. It comes when Good men compromise Original Intent in the name of security.

A government strong enough to protect us from all dangers and suckle us from cradle to grave is strong enough to take it all away.

First off, Tik Tok is a rootkit level piece of software for your phone. Its even more invasive than the Facebook app. It's not just 16 year old girls looking for validation that use this program. You have "trendy" CEOs and other C level executives that want to be cool using this too. Imagine a country with the ability to listen in on Fortune 100 executive meetings or on the lead Project Manager with their meetings. The ability to blackmail people is astounding. Blackmail the CTO of a Fortune 500 company because he likes to do degenerate things his wife wouldn't approve of.

ROOT KIT??? Oh My God. It's worse than I thought it was. Yep, definitely a National Security issue. How it was even allowed into the country is proof we have sedition (and treason it's kid brother) at the highest levels. Cell phones are the easiest tech to hack. This Tik Tok is made to order.

Rootkit
Self-hiding computer software designed to enable access to restricted files/areas

A rootkit is a collection of computer software, typically malicious, designed to enable access to a computer or an area of its software that is not otherwise allowed and often masks its existence or the existence of other software. The term rootkit is a compound from "root" and the word "kit". The term "rootkit" has negative connotations through its association with malware. Wikipedia

Unfortunately, those two apps are a drop in the bucket.

China has reverse engineered so many things belonging to American companies, they probably have a lot of back doors out there.

Why let them steal.proprietary information and get away with it?

Who made the decision to let them make laptops for the US?

Aside from stealing information, I'd say a more dangerous threat is our domestic enemies, especially when they are elected and in bed with foreign countries actively giving away our secrets for monetary compensation.
